The next day, before dawn, Huo Haocheng woke up and called his wife. After they got dressed, they took their luggage and went downstairs.
"Sister-in-law, this is my future nephew's New Year's red envelope. Please keep it for him."
After going downstairs, I saw Qian Ling already sitting at the table, with Ruan Shaohong helping to serve breakfast. It seems that this time, he really knows how to care for people.
Qian Ling didn't stand on ceremony and accepted the red envelope, saying, "Then, little sister, I'll thank his aunt and uncle on his behalf."
"You're welcome, our little baby. Grow up healthy and strong in Mommy's tummy!"
After chatting for a while, Ruan Ruan went to wash up and eat. Then Ruan Shaohong and Commander Ruan drove them to the train station.
As before, they boarded the train through the staff entrance. The difference was that as soon as they boarded, the train conductor came over with two plainclothes police officers.
"Comrade, I'm sorry to bother you, but we've come here to ask for your help. It's almost Chinese New Year, so there are a lot of people coming and going, and consequently, there are also more criminals. In the past two days, some of our Ministry of Public Security personnel have been injured, so there is a serious shortage of security personnel on this train. I just heard the train conductor say that there are several military personnel on the train, so I shamelessly asked the train conductor to bring us here and ask for your help. Could you please help us patrol for the next few days?"
The speaker was the squad leader from the Ministry of Public Security in charge of train safety. He was at his wit's end. Including himself, there were only six people on the train, which was a serious shortage of personnel. Just as he was worrying about this, the train conductor gave him an idea: go and find Huo Haocheng and his group to see if they could help.
So, they shamelessly came over.
After hearing the police officer's request, Huo Haocheng glanced at the others and then agreed.
"Comrade, we can help with the patrol, but we also have two wounded soldiers here who haven't fully recovered from their injuries during the previous mission. In addition, we also have a female comrade here. So, we can only arrange for the remaining people to take turns patrolling with you. We hope you can understand."
"I understand, I understand, it's what I should do. Thank you so much for your help, comrades. I'm really sorry to have troubled you."
After hearing Huo Haocheng's words, they all knew that this military team had just returned from a mission. Looking at Ruan Shaoke and Ruan Ruan sitting by the bed, they also knew that perhaps they had been a bit rash in coming here this time, but since they had already spoken and the other party had agreed, there was no reason to take it back. They could only help each other as much as possible.
In fact, Ruan Shaoke and Bai Sirui's injuries had almost healed, and new flesh had grown back. Huo Haocheng said this only to tell them that although the military and civilians are one family, they still have wounded soldiers. They shouldn't rely on them for everything; they should take care of their own affairs. They were just helping out.
After the matter was settled, the train conductor and the police officer went back first.
Huo Haocheng and his group returned to their carriages to pack their belongings.
Over the course of three days and two nights, they took turns patrolling with six police officers, consisting of four people each time. During this time, they apprehended two groups of human traffickers, rescued 15 children, caught two thieves, and helped more than a dozen people recover their stolen money and tickets. Many of these victims had earned a year's wages and were trying to take home to their families for a good New Year.
Upon arrival at Yuncheng Railway Station, the train conductor and police officers came to see them off and expressed their gratitude. They said that without their help these past few days, the train would have been in complete chaos.
After saying goodbye, the group walked out of the train station, first went to a state-run restaurant for a quick meal, and then took a bus back to the military base.
It wasn't the military that came to pick them up; there were just too many of them, and also because they had a lot of missions going on lately, and all the vehicles had been driven out, so they had to go back by themselves.
Fortunately, it's convenient to get around Yuncheng by bus, it's just a bit slow.
Perhaps it was because she hadn't taken such a long bus ride in a long time, or perhaps it was because the weather was too cold and the windows were all tightly closed, causing poor air circulation and all sorts of smells in the bus, but Ruan Ruan started to feel carsick not long after getting on the bus. Seeing her pale face, Huo Haocheng felt heartbroken.
This left her feeling listless after getting off the bus, so we had no choice but to carry her back.
As soon as they got home, Huo Haocheng put her on the sofa and let her rest. He covered her with a blanket to keep her warm, then boiled water and made her some sugar water. After that, he changed the sheets and blankets before carrying her into the room to sleep.
After settling his wife in, he began busily cleaning and tidying up.
In the afternoon, Gu Jinghe came over to help him and told him that Teacher Shen wanted to go out for dinner that evening.
When it was almost time, Huo Haocheng went inside to wake his wife. After she got dressed, he took the gifts he had prepared and went to his uncle's house.
"Ruan Ruan, what's wrong with you?" As soon as she entered the door, Teacher Shen saw her listless niece. In addition, Commander Gu had told her that Gu Jinghe and his team were able to complete their mission successfully and return safely thanks to Ruan Ruan's help. Seeing her like this, Teacher Shen thought she was injured.
"Auntie, don't worry, I'm fine. I just felt a little carsick today. I'll be fine after a nap." Looking at Teacher Shen's worried eyes, Ruan Ruan felt a warmth in her heart.
"Aunt, these are New Year's gifts we brought you from the capital. Take a look and see if you like them."
"Oh dear, why did you buy all this for us? It's such a waste of money! Don't buy it for us anymore, just buy more for yourself."
