After resting against the rock for a while, he began to lie on the tree and slowly pull the rope upwards.
However, he underestimated Director Qian's weight and overestimated his own arm strength.
Just as he pulled the person a meter away, his hands ran out of strength, and he continued on entirely out of brotherhood.
Just as Commander Zhu's arm veins were bulging from overexertion, Director Qian, who was suspended in mid-air, woke up.
When he woke up, he found himself hanging in the air and screamed in terror, "Ahhh, help me!!!"
Commander Zhu, who was already exhausted, was startled by the shout and let go. Then, a "thud" was heard from the pit, followed by Director Qian's cries of "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"
"Old Qian, how are you? Are you alright?" Commander Zhu called out to Director Qian, who was lying down below.
He didn't mean to let go. He didn't expect Director Qian to wake up at this time. You know, if you're a director, you should open your eyes and look up first. He was right above him, and he could see him as soon as he opened his eyes. He didn't know what he was shouting. But thankfully, it wasn't Mayor Liu who fell.
"It hurts, Lao Zhu, my leg hurts so much, I feel like my leg is broken." Hearing Commander Zhu's voice, Director Qian's fear eased a little, but when he tried to lift his leg, he found that apart from the pain, he couldn't feel anything else, and his left leg was completely numb.
Upon hearing Director Qian's words, Commander Zhu disregarded his own arm injury and immediately went down the rope to check on him.
Two minutes later, it was confirmed that Director Qian had indeed injured his leg, and at this point Commander Zhu dared not move him any further.
"Okay, you stay here and watch over Lao Liu for a bit. I'll go upstairs and find someone to rescue you." Both of them were injured, and he really couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't injure them again while he was on his own. The best way was to go back and find someone. He should have gone back to find someone; what was he doing all this time?
"Okay, you go back and find someone first, we'll wait for you here."
Seeing that Director Qian was in good spirits, Commander Zhu felt relieved and started climbing up the rope. However, as soon as he jumped and exerted force with his arms, he felt a sharp pain that spread throughout his body.
"Ouch..." The pain made him immediately release the rope in his hand, and by the light from the pit opening, he used his other hand to roll up his sleeve to check his injury.
"What's wrong? Is your arm injured?" Seeing his friend's actions, Director Qian, who was sitting on the ground, was also very worried. He grabbed his leg and tried to stand up to check his injury.
"Sit down." Commander Zhu needs to find out where he is injured first, so he doesn't have time to worry about him. He's afraid that if he loses his balance, he might get injured again, which would be troublesome.
After rolling up the sleeve, I looked at the red marks on my arm and touched the spot where I had felt pain.
Then Commander Zhu calmly sat down next to Director Qian.
"Alright, just wait, we can't get out of here now."
"Where are you hurt?" Seeing Commander Zhu sit down, Director Qian pulled on his arm to check him out. But the pull caused Commander Zhu to feel even more pain.
"Ouch... Hiss... Be gentle."
"Oh, oh, oh..." Seeing him like this, Director Qian was so frightened that he immediately let go of his hand.
"As expected, it's a fracture. Oh well, let's wait and see if they remember us when they come back after dark."
There's nothing we can do. They're all busy during the day, so no one will think about them. We can only hope that when they go back at night, they'll find out they're gone.
To their surprise, they waited until it got dark the next day.
Mayor Liu woke up midway through the process.
Huo Haocheng and his men searched carefully along the roadside.
"mayor...."
"Chief..."
"commander....."
They kept shining flashlights and calling out to each other along the way, but they still couldn't find the three of them.
"Captain, come and see if there are any untouched traces here?" Deng Yi, a former reconnaissance soldier, called out to Huo Haocheng and the others, looking at the marks under their feet.
Then, following the trail, they found a rope tied to a tree stump a little below the road.
"Come on, everyone shine your flashlights down. Gu Jinghe, you come down with me and take a look." Seeing that he had found a clue, Huo Haocheng put the flashlight in his mouth and then had the other flashlights shine down as well. If they came down, they would definitely see the light and be able to give them a signal.
Huo Haocheng and Gu Jinghe slowly slid down the rope and arrived at the edge of the pit.
Huo Haocheng took the flashlight out of his mouth and shone it down. "Commander Zhu, Mayor Liu, are you down there?"
"Commander, Mayor?" Gu Jinghe also called out twice.
The three people, who were fast asleep, vaguely heard someone calling them, but they thought they were hallucinating.
"Commander Zhu, Mayor Liu, Director Qian, are you coming down? Please respond if you hear me," Huo Haocheng shouted towards the bottom of the pit.
Seeing the ropes hanging from the logs at the pit entrance, they could tell that they were very likely to be coming down.
However, they couldn't be sure how serious their injuries were. If they were serious, Huo Haocheng and Gu Jinghe alone wouldn't be able to bring them up; they would need to call for others to come down.
This time, Commander Zhu really heard Huo Haocheng's voice. After confirming that it wasn't a hallucination, he immediately shook the two people next to him awake, saying, "Wake up, wake up! Commander Huo is here to see us." Then, he called out to Huo Haocheng above, "Commander Huo, we're down here."
