"system"
Back in her room, Ruan Ruan lay on the bed, listlessly calling out to the system that made her forget the day.
"You finally remembered me!!"
The system materialized, floating above Ruan Ruan's head, looking at her with a mournful expression.
"I just haven't figured out how to tell my brother yet."
Seeing the system looking so badly bullied, and with its naturally big, bright eyes filled with tears as it looked at you, Ruan Ruan felt a sudden pang of guilt.
"Okay, okay, hug me, a hug will make you feel better."
Ruan Ruan hugged the system, gently stroking its fur with her small hands. Even though Ruan Ruan's hands were smaller than those of a normal adult, she could still cover the system's back with one palm.
"Hey, you're too small! Can't you grow a little bigger? I don't even get the feeling of petting a cat yet."
"Host, please get this straight. I'm a system, not a cat. Have you fallen for another cat? Don't you love me anymore? No wonder you ignored me all day; you have another cat now. You're so fickle, always changing your mind, falling in love with the same one... ugh..."
The system's little mouth was still chattering on and on, but Ruan Ruan had already manually shut it up.
That's enough.
"How come I never realized you were so talkative? Tell me, what did you do today?"
Something's definitely fishy going on. The system was working fine yesterday, but today it's acting so unreasonably and saying such sarcastic things. There's no way it didn't do something.
"Um, um, I just glanced at some 'domineering CEO novels'."
Ruan Ruan gave the system a look that said, "I've seen right through you." Just a moment ago, the system was throwing a tantrum, but now it's all shy and bashful.
Ruan Ruan let out a long sigh
“ε=(′ο`*))) Sigh”
"Why would you, a system, need to look at this?"
Ruan Ruan was very puzzled
"I was bored, and you weren't looking for me, so I had to go out and have some fun by myself. Then I saw a young girl in a courtyard reading a book, and she was laughing happily while she was reading. I wanted to see what she was reading, so I followed her and started reading too."
As the system spoke, it spread out its front paws, indicating that it didn't want to see it either, but she insisted that I see it.
Which courtyard did you go to?
"It's a large courtyard not far from that big tree, where many men and women live."
Seeing Ruan Ruan's immediately serious expression, the system stopped fooling around and earnestly spoke to her.
"Educated Youth Compound"
"It should be"
You know, reading these books now would get you reported, but then I thought, the people in the educated youth compound and the Red Flag Brigade can't be confused; the educated youth are all managed by the educated youth office! If something happens in their own compound, the brigade leader will at most get a few words in the way.
"Do you still remember what the person reading the book looked like?"
"Hmm, she has a round little face, her eyes crinkle when she smiles, and a small mole below the corner of her mouth—you can't really see it unless you look closely. Today she's wearing a light blue dress, and she seems quite relaxed. In the afternoon, everyone else went to work, but she was the only one sitting on her bed reading."
As she read, she muttered to herself, "Only a fool would do the work himself. Why not just find a peasant to help? Peasants are so cheap; just smile at them, say a few nice words, and they'll happily go and do the work." She said this with great pride.
Upon hearing the system's description, Ruan Ruan tried hard to recall the female educated youth in the educated youth compound. There were now three female educated youth and four male educated youth in the compound. Originally, there were a few more educated youth, but some of them had been there for too long, two or three years, and they didn't know when they would be able to return to the city. They couldn't rely on their families, so they resigned themselves to marrying men from the village.
Ruan Ruan roughly guessed who it was; it seems appearances can be deceiving! But this was her own business, and it was better to avoid trouble. However, fearing that the trouble this person caused might be discovered, she decided to have the system keep an eye on things.
