Chapter 169: Hang up anyone who bullies your mother
It was late at night and Yuntai Village was silent, but the lights were still on in the village chief's house, and low crying sounds could be heard from inside from time to time.
When Shao Qiaolan woke up, her whole body was in terrible pain. She moved her fingers and felt her whole body was frozen.
She was lying on the ground, and no one cared about her.
She sat up feeling aggrieved and turned to look into the room. Her mother-in-law was taking care of her two daughters. Song Nian was holding a talisman in her hand and her face looked much better, but Song Ting was still pale.
She hurried forward and asked her mother-in-law, "Why isn't Tingting well yet?"
The mother-in-law spat at her and said, "Niannian is fine because I gave her the talisman, but Tingting doesn't have it. Where is the talisman on you? Where did you get it?"
Shao Qiaolan was so frightened that her legs went limp: "I, I don't know where I lost it..."
Her mother-in-law pointed at her angrily and said, "Even if your own talisman is lost, what about the ones in your father-in-law's room? I've been home the past few days, and no one has been visiting us these past two days. Could it be that the talisman has grown wings and flown away?"
Shao Qiaolan opened her mouth to defend herself, but in the end nothing came out.
Her mother-in-law ignored her and focused on taking care of the children. Shao Qiaolan sat there like a wandering spirit, and after a while she said, "With the talisman, they can be saved?"
Granny Song rolled her eyes and said, "Your father-in-law is gone, so just pray that Mr. Fu is willing to give us a few more talismans."
Shao Qiaolan perked up a little. She thought to herself, Mr. Fu seemed to love this concubine very much. If she could establish a good relationship with her and let her ask Mr. Fu for the talisman, there would definitely be no problem.
Thinking of this, she rushed to her room, packed the clothes and jewelry she bought in a small package, and ran out with it.
Perhaps because of her good luck, she didn't encounter anything strange along the way. Although it was a little scary how quiet it was outside, she still arrived at Xie Zaozao's house safely.
*
Late at night, there was a hurried knock on Xie Zaozao's door, and she frowned in her sleep.
Fu Yanzhi beside her woke up earlier and covered her ears with his hands. She was almost woken up by the noise, but in the end she fell asleep again in a daze.
Fu Yanzhi kept holding his hand like this until the knocking sound outside stopped, then he let go and opened the door.
The door creaked open and Shao Qiaolan was standing at the door, shivering with cold.
"Sir, I, I beg you...you..."
Fu Yanzhi closed the door again with an expressionless face.
Shao Qiaolan was almost on the verge of tears, so she went forward to knock on the door again. But just as she raised her hand, she heard a cold voice in her ear: "If you wake Zao Zao up, you will bear the consequences yourself."
Shao Qiaolan shuddered all over and dared not move, but she was unwilling to leave just like that. She thought of the poor child at home, and also of what her father-in-law had told her about how great Mr. Fu was and how he must be respected.
How powerful could he be, running to this remote place to keep a mistress?
Shao Qiaolan gritted her teeth and thought to herself that for the sake of her child, she was not afraid of anything. She rushed over and knocked on the door. She must wake Xie up early. At worst, she could kneel down and kowtow to her. She would not be indifferent!
Thinking of this, she raised her hand high.
As a result, the moment her hand fell on the door, the door knocker turned into a huge python, opening its mouth to bite her. Shao Qiaolan was about to scream, but found that she could not make any sound. She could only watch as the snake wrapped around her tightly and climbed up the tree next to her.
It's over, she's going to die!
Shao Qiaolan closed her eyes tightly, but after a while she found that the snake did not swallow her. There was no other sound in her ears, only the rustling sound of snowflakes drifting by. She bravely opened one eye and secretly looked at the snake that was wrapped around her.
But she found that the snake had turned into a rope, hanging her on the tree and tying her tightly so that she could not struggle or make any sound.
Shao Qiaolan hung outside for most of the night and almost froze to death. At dawn, the door was pushed open and Fu Yanzhi walked out of the house and stood under the tree looking at her.
"Stop arguing?"
Shao Qiaolan's face was frozen, she couldn't laugh or speak. She wanted to cry but remembered that there were already a lot of ice chips on her face from crying last night.
Fu Yanzhi: "Did you enjoy spending the money from selling the talismans?"
Shao Qiaolan's eyes widened in horror, wondering how this person knew this? She had clearly been very careful when she went to town.
She didn't dare to move or speak. Today she finally understood why her father-in-law asked her to respect this banished immortal-like man in front of her.
He was so handsome that she could not associate him with those powerful mystics. She remembered that there was an old mystic in the village who was missing an arm, his left ear was badly broken, and his left face was completely destroyed. These were injuries left from exorcising demons. It was said that if a mystic worked for a long time, he would always suffer injuries of one kind or another.
This man doesn't look like a mystic.
But the pressure emanating from him made her tremble with fear. She was in a state of panic. What could she do? If her parents-in-law knew that she had sold the talisman and spent the money on herself, and that her two daughters had become like that, how would they scold her?
Shao Qiaolan was frightened and afraid and dared not move.
Fu Yanzhi sneered and ignored Shao Qiaolan. The Shikigami who went out to gather information had not returned yet. He didn't plan to let Xie Zao do anything, so he simply got up and did it himself.
Shao Qiaolan watched Fu Yanzhi cooking porridge in the kitchen and even steamed two bowls of egg custard.
Then he boiled some hot water, mixed it carefully, and brought it into the house. Xie Zaozao's drowsy voice came from inside: "I don't want to get up. I'm too lazy to move."
Then came Fu Yanzhi's voice: "Eat something before going to sleep."
The sound of washing faces came from the room, and then Fu Yanzhi came out with a basin and poured out the water. He turned around and grabbed a kid from the room and combed his hair.
Although his movements were a bit unfamiliar and clumsy, he was truly taking care of them.
Shao Qiaolan's eyes were bleeding from watching this.
Are men always so nice to their mistresses?
Her gaze was probably too explicit, and Fu Yanzhi noticed it, and gave her a cold look. She cried out and quickly shut her mouth, not daring to speak again.
Little Xingsu sat obediently under the eaves, wrapped in a furry little cloak, yawned with his little hands covering his mouth, and saw Shao Qiaolan.
"Hey, Dad...Uncle, there's a person hanging on the tree."
"I hung it up."
"Why?"
"Bullying your mother."
Fu Yanzhi gave Xiao Xingsu a simple ponytail and patted his shoulder: "Anyone who bullies your mother in the future will be a bad person. Hang them on the tree."
"Then...what about the people my mother bullied?"
"Pretend not to see."
Xiao Xingsu nodded vigorously: "I will remember it."
Shao Qiaolan looked at the father and son with eyes filled with resentment. They were both men, so why did her husband only curse her along with his parents-in-law every day?!
Fu Yanzhi packed up Xiao Xingsu and asked him to go into the house to eat, when a Shikigami came back to report the news. However, the more Fu Yanzhi listened, the more solemn his expression became, and he looked at Shao Qiaolan with a strange look.
Then, he put Shao Qiaolan down and asked, "Did your father-in-law go out to look for me last night?"
Only then did Shao Qiaolan realize that she had not seen her father-in-law the entire night before.
