Chapter Eighty

Ye Dong's usually refined face broke into an excited expression.

Jiang Yixing smiled at him and said, "Alright, let's start with you. Draw a talisman for me to see."

Ye Dong was taken aback, but immediately realized that Jiang Yixing was about to give a live demonstration!

"Okay...okay," Ye Dong said, finding it hard not to be nervous. But no matter how nervous he was, he couldn't miss this opportunity. He took out a smooth, flat yellow talisman and a dish of portable ink from his bag. This ink was specially made by the Alliance and was easier to store and attract spiritual energy than any natural ink. "Senior Jiang, please wait a moment."

Jiang Yixing nodded, watching as he laid out the things he was going to use on the ground: a talisman pen, ink, talisman paper, and a bottle of mineral water for washing his hands before summoning the spirit.

Jiang Yixing straightened his back. So... solemn? What big move is he about to unleash?

Jiang Yixing pursed his lips, watching Ye Dong slowly pick up his brush, take a deep breath, and with careful and restrained movements, slowly draw a fire talisman.

This fire talisman was the one Ye Dong was most skilled at using. After he finished drawing it, he solemnly handed it to Jiang Yixing, stealing glances at Jiang Yixing's expression in between.

Jiang Yixing took the talisman paper and squeezed the thin sheet. Times have indeed changed; even talisman paper has become easier to write on.

After examining it for a while, Jiang Yixing still couldn't figure out what was so special about Ye Dong's talisman. Deciding to learn through practice, he infused it with spiritual energy and tossed it into an open space.

A flash of light appeared, and a small ball of fire appeared in the air, about the size of a fist.

Jiang Yixing looked confused. That's it?

She asked the same question as many cultivators, "Then why not just cast a fireball spell?"

Seeing Ye Dong's shocked expression, Jiang Yixing silently swallowed the next sentence—it's even bigger than this fireball.

Ye Dong was naturally incredulous. He thought Jiang Yixing was also an expert, but he never expected her to ask such a hurtful question!

His lips trembled: "The talisman doesn't need to be prepared, you can just throw it at it, which saves time!"

Time! Every second counts in battle! That's the very reason for the existence of these rune masters!

Jiang Yixing frowned and waved to Rong Hang, who was focused on freezing cream puffs and juice in the pavilion. Rong Hang appeared in front of her.

Jiang Yixing asked Ye Dong for another talisman and handed it to Rong Hang, saying, "Take a look at this?"

Rong Hang examined it for a moment, "The talisman is incomplete, so the spiritual power cannot be condensed."

Jiang Yixing nodded affirmatively, she thought so too, but she felt it shouldn't be like this. If the art of talismans had declined to this extent, how could anyone still practice it?

Jiang Yixing drew another talisman for Ye Dong to see. He borrowed Ye Dong's paper and pen, but his drawing was even smoother than Ye Dong's. Before Ye Dong could appreciate Jiang Yixing's fluid movements, he watched as Jiang Yixing activated the talisman paper, causing a violent flame to erupt on the open ground, with a momentum comparable to the previous water talisman.

"Look, I only used less than a fraction of my strength, yet I was able to unleash three times the effect. That's what a talisman is all about."

Ye Dong gazed at the raging flames, the surging heat waves sweeping over him, as if he could feel the heat even here.

He was so shocked that he couldn't speak. So this was... this was the true nature of talismanic arts...

In a daze, Ye Dong recalled that his master had once told him when he was a child, "The most top-notch talisman masters can use talisman paper to activate spiritual power into more powerful spells."

Ye Dong's throat went dry, and he repeated his master's words: "Only the most top-tier talisman masters can achieve such an effect."

Jiang Yixing and Rong Hang exchanged a glance, both sensing that something was amiss.

This is clearly the meaning of the existence of talismanic arts. If most people cannot do this, then the extinction of talismanic arts will be getting faster and faster.

Jiang Yixing asked Ye Dong for a few talismans, "I want to go back and study them."

Then he smiled and said, "I'll draw a few more for you, as an exchange?"

"No, no, no!" Ye Dong quickly waved his hands. This was clearly taking advantage of someone else; how could he do such a thing!

However, in the end, Ye Dong still took several talismans drawn by Jiang Yixing himself home, thinking to himself with a happy heart: These are not what I wanted, but Senior Jiang insisted on giving them to me!

After giving Ye Dong his guidance, the remaining three naturally couldn't be left out. Jiang Yixing decided to assign Guo Linlu to Rong Hang, since he was a sword cultivator and would definitely be more adept at it.

Jiang Yixing was in charge of Zhou Xinghe and Guo Linlu. Both of them had solid basic skills, but they were not good at some minor things. Jiang Yixing gave them a few simple instructions, which earned him a pair of starry eyes from Zhou Xinghe and a less-than-pleasant expression from Guo Linlu.

Yu Wujian was in a terrible state. Rong Hang's icy demeanor made him tremble all over. Although Rong Hang's words were concise and to the point, his cold aura was something that ordinary people could not bear. Yu Wujian accepted Rong Hang's guidance with a mixture of pain and pleasure.

Jiang Yixing asked, "How do you usually deal with demonic beasts?"

Zhou Xinghe didn't know either. He turned to look at the other three. Just as Ye Dong was about to speak, Guo Linlu made his move, sending a fireball straight at the eyes of the trapped white tiger.

Jiang Yixing reached out to stop it, and the fireball subsided. Her face darkened, and she tilted her head slightly. Her voice was still clear, but chillingly cold, "What are you doing?"

Guo Linlu felt a sense of satisfaction. See? He was still afraid and didn't dare to kill, did he? He still lacked experience!

"We all have to do this to prevent the monsters from suddenly attacking and hurting people again."

Even Jiang Yixing chuckled. If the white tiger could erupt in her hands, then her cultivation as an immortal would have been in vain!

"The notification I received didn't say anything about killing Baihu."

"Just a pair of eyes," Guo Linlu said with a smile.

How easily, with just a pair of eyes.

For a white tiger demon living in the wild, losing its eyes is no different from losing its life.

Jiang Yixing's face darkened for the first time. "Life and death are matters for the Demon Management Bureau to decide. The White Tiger Demon didn't harm anyone, so it's definitely not worth losing a pair of eyes."

Jiang Yixing lightly tapped the white tiger's mourning hall, and the white tiger, mimicking the size of a cat, was locked in a cage that shrank accordingly.

The group was stunned by this move for a long time. It was so convenient; they had spent so much time figuring out how to bring this enormous creature back.

Jiang Yixing remained expressionless, slightly raising his chin and pointing into the depths of the forest, "There's another black bear demon on its way here, to give you a chance to hone your skills."

Jiang Yixing didn't even mention not harming the black bear. They couldn't even defeat the white tiger, and the black bear demon was much stronger than the white tiger, so naturally they couldn't possibly hurt the black bear.

Then Jiang Yixing returned to the pavilion and sat down. Rong Hang naturally sat opposite him. The lemon black tea was still cold. Jiang Yixing picked it up and took a big gulp, then observed the situation of the four people over there.

Guo Linlu was naturally unhappy after being rebuked, and he cursed Jiang Yixing for being cowardly. Who was he trying to impress with that arrogant attitude?
