Chapter Fifty

When Rong Hang called Jiang Yixing, Jiang Yixing was lying on the sofa playing on her phone.

Rong Hang's name lit up on the screen. Jiang Yixing sat up straight and swiped to answer the call.

"Rong Hang?"

The moment Rong Hang heard Jiang Yixing's voice, he breathed a sigh of relief. Although he could learn about Jiang Yixing's various activities online, he always felt that there was something between them.

Only when I actually hear her voice do I feel a sense of security, as if she were right beside me.

Making the call seemed to be an unconscious action; Rong Hang hadn't prepared his words and didn't know what to say for a moment.

While the Rong family members appeared to be sitting upright in the living room, they were actually listening intently to keep track of their children's romantic relationships.

"What's wrong?"

Jiang Yixing glanced at the screen, which showed that the call was in progress and had not been disconnected, but why was there no sound from the other end?

"I saw some defamatory rumors online."

Rong Hang glanced at the few people who moved in response to his voice, his brows furrowed, and finally he raised his hand to create a barrier.

Now no one in the living room could hear Rong Hang's voice.

Rong Chengzhang froze, shaking the newspaper in his hand. "This kid, is he afraid we'll eavesdrop?"

The others, feeling guilty, didn't respond and went about their own business.

"Ah, don't worry about that."

"Do you need any help?"

Jiang Yixing was taken aback. Rong Hang seemed to be becoming more and more humane?

"No need, it's almost resolved."

"I haven't heard you mention before that you already have... a Daoist partner."

The voice coming through the microphone was as cool and icy as water, with a brief pause that was almost imperceptible.

"Daoist partner??" Jiang Yixing repeated the word strangely. "No."

Jiang Yixing then remembered the differences between the cultivation world and the modern world, and realized that Rong Hang must have misunderstood something.

Jiang Yixing's voice carried a hint of amusement, "He's just an ex-boyfriend. Here, we can have many romantic relationships."

"Marriage is similar to a contract in the immortal realm, but nowadays even if you are married, you can get divorced."

Even though Rong Hang considered himself rebellious, he had never heard of such a concept.

However, after arriving in the modern world, he experienced so many shocks that changing his mindset was no longer difficult for him.

He was even secretly relieved that Jiang Yixing hadn't gotten married.

"I see."

Rong Hang concealed his emotional turmoil, his voice remaining calm and composed, "I was presumptuous."

Jiang Yixing laughed instead. Rong Hang's sense of propriety had always been strange. Sometimes when you wanted to get closer to him, he would unconsciously distance himself from you. And other times, when you felt that you weren't that familiar with him, he would be very kind to you.

Jiang Yixing felt that Rong Hang was like the legendary green tea man, seemingly there but not there, sometimes close and sometimes distant, which was why she had paid attention to him for so many years.

Jiang Yixing suddenly felt like teasing him, "Why are you suddenly concerned about this?"

Rong Hang panicked for a moment, then quickly came up with an excuse, "I'm afraid it will interfere with your cultivation."

After saying that, he added, "We are now in close contact, and if we want to find out the reason, we must not let it interfere with our cultivation."

As soon as he finished speaking, Rong Hang regretted it and bit his lip.

"I see."

Jiang Yixing found it rather boring; it was the same old routine again. She could hardly understand Rong Hang anymore.

Rong Hang and Jiang Yixing once regarded each other as rivals. At that time, Rong Hang truly regarded Jiang Yixing as the only one among his peers who could compete with him.

Rong Hang cultivated diligently from a young age and had a steadfast Daoist heart, while Jiang Yixing had many interests and was often distracted by other matters.

When they met again after a while, Rong Hang would always show a disappointed expression at Jiang Yixing's lack of progress in cultivation.

Jiang Yixing used to really dislike this guy; he was arrogant and always bossed her around.

But later, when Rong Hang fell to rock bottom, Jiang Yixing was the only one who was still willing to be close to him.

Those secret feelings of love grow in such moments, but how could Rong Hang, who has fallen into demonic ways, possibly be with Jiang Yixing?

No matter what he thought in his heart, Rong Hang always wore a cold expression.

Now, Rong Hang feels completely relaxed, free from hatred and pressure, and his suppressed emotions are naturally being released.

Having always suppressed his feelings, Rong Hang had never learned how to express love from anyone, but now he realized that he seemed to have chosen the wrong answer.

Murder was easy for Rong Hang, but communication was probably his weakest skill.

Rong Hang felt a bit speechless, then suddenly remembered what Rong Wei had just said, "Just say it directly!"

In a moment of impulse, the words were already out: "I want to know if you have a Daoist partner."
