Chapter Four

The doctor Gu Ruini called arrived at the scene, followed by a driver who looked nervous and several burly men in black.

"Miss, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, but my friend fell and hurt herself. Take her to the hospital quickly."

Jiang Yixing had just made a show of herself and hurriedly waved her hand to refuse, but Gu Ruini didn't give her a chance to speak. Several people surrounded her and helped her into the car.

Gu Ruini stayed behind and spoke a few words to the bodyguard, who nodded in agreement.

Jiang Yixing sighed as he looked at the film set. It seemed the police would be arriving soon. He wondered if his first commercial shoot would even be possible.

When Zhang Meng received the call, he was completely stunned. How could his artist end up in the hospital while filming a movie?

On the drive to the hospital, Zhang Meng imagined many terrible scenarios, his palms sweating slightly. This was his most valued artist; she absolutely couldn't be harmed. Besides, Yi Xing was so young and had such a promising future. If anything happened to her, he wouldn't be able to face her parents.

When they arrived at the hospital and saw Jiang Yixing's leg wrapped in a small bandage, Zhang Meng was both angry and amused.

"Is this what you call serious injury?" Zhang Meng first looked at Jiang Yixing lying on the hospital bed. Jiang Yixing raised his eyebrows and waved his hand to indicate that it had nothing to do with him.

The butler sitting next to her stood up excitedly, “Of course! This is nothing serious! Our young lady has never been injured before! If Miss Jiang hadn’t saved her this time, she would have been the one who got hurt! And she might have even hurt her face! That would be a huge injury for an actress!”

Gu Ruini, who had been sitting on the sofa drinking coffee, stood up when she saw Jiang Yixing's agent arrive. She nodded vigorously, echoing the butler's words.

Jiang Yixing sighed, rubbing his forehead on the bed behind him.

"Okay, if there's nothing else, I'll take Jiang Yixing back." Zhang Meng, dressed in a black suit, had come all the way from another place and said, pushing up his glasses.

"No, he needs to be hospitalized for observation for a while longer," the housekeeper immediately disagreed.

Gu Ruini frowned and moved closer to Jiang Yixing, "Is this agent a real devil? Should we change agents?"

Jiang Yixing immediately shook her head vigorously. After spending several hours with this young lady, Jiang Yixing completely understood that she could never be polite when speaking to her, otherwise she would take it seriously. If she didn't want something, she had to refuse decisively, otherwise she would definitely force everything on her.

Under Zhang Meng's persuasive words, the butler finally relented and let Jiang Yixing go home.

Jiang Yixing was helped forward by the young lady. Although Jiang Yixing said that she could walk independently now, Gu Ruini still insisted on supporting her. Obviously, she had never supported anyone before, and the two of them walked very awkwardly, like two snails shuffling in the hospital corridor.

The butler and Zhang Meng followed behind. Zhang Meng listened as the butler recounted everything that had happened that afternoon. At the end, the butler stated frankly, "Our Gu family will provide appropriate compensation for Miss Jiang's advertising opportunity. If Miss Jiang has any questions in the future, she can call me directly, and I will do my best to help."

Zhang Meng took the business card and said that Jiang Yixing was only saving people out of instinct and had no intention of coveting the power of the Gu family.

The butler said, "Understood. Miss Jiang means well, but we can't let you suffer a loss. Now that Miss Jiang's leg is injured, she still needs to rest and recover. There will definitely be better opportunities in the future."

Zhang Meng instantly understood the butler's implication. Although it wasn't the first time he had encountered these truly wealthy people, it was the first time Zhang Meng had experienced the politeness of a rich family.

The butler looked at the two people in front of him, whose identities were unclear, and pulled out a small handkerchief from somewhere to wipe away non-existent tears from the corners of their eyes. "Miss has never taken care of anyone like this before. It seems that Miss really likes Miss Jiang."

Zhang Meng's lips twitched. Who's taking care of whom here?

Then he quickly went over and took Jiang Yixing's arm, "Thank you, but let me support her. I'm a guy, I'm strong."

Jiang Yixing quickly leaned against Zhang Meng, "Yes, yes."

Gu Ruini frowned slightly, a hint of worry showing on her round face. "Okay, hold her well and don't let her strain her legs."

Zhang Meng waved his hand, "Understood."

Zhang Meng arrived in his beat-up little car. The black car had a patch of paint chipped off the side. Zhang Meng smiled and said, "I haven't had time to get it fixed yet."

Zhang Meng had a refined appearance and a scholarly air. He wore frameless glasses, which added to his composed demeanor. Jiang Yixing sat in the back seat, observing her agent through the rearview mirror. Zhang Meng was an agent who had been in the industry for several years. He had broken through the competition and signed Jiang Yixing when she graduated from university.

Jiang Yixing was the most beautiful girl in her grade at the time, and she was very popular with talent agencies. Zhang Meng had to use all his persuasive skills to finally win her over. Zhang Meng's agency was one of the larger agencies in City B, with considerable financial resources.

Zhang Meng, as a manager with only three years of experience, is not particularly senior and doesn't have many good resources. Apart from Jiang Yixing, all his artists are second-hand clients.

Jiang Yixing was the only newcomer he was mentoring for the first time.

He was strict with Jiang Yixing, but he also cared for her and worried about everything.

At this point, he criticized Jiang Yixing's behavior on set that day.

“Jiang Yixing, you can’t be so impulsive in the future. You’re as skinny as a chicken, yet you try to save people! And that paparazzi, and that person who pushed you—can’t you think about your own safety first? If it hadn’t been Gu Ruini today, and it had been some other ordinary person, wouldn’t they have hated you too? What if they retaliated against you later? You just graduated, it’s normal that you don’t know how dangerous the world is, but you can’t be too kind! Let me tell you…”

Jiang Yixing was getting drowsy listening to the lectures, and couldn't help but recall the time she spent listening to the Grand Elder preach in the sect. Zhang Meng's voice was just as good as the Grand Elder's; both were put to sleep. In her mind, Jiang Yixing silently upgraded her impression of Zhang Meng to that of a very nice but talkative manager.

After Zhang Meng parked the car and looked back at the back seat, he realized that Jiang Yixing had already fallen asleep in the dark.

Zhang Meng was both amused and exasperated. He gently patted Jiang Yixing's shoulder and softened his voice, "We're home. Don't sleep."

Jiang Yixing suddenly woke up, saw Zhang Meng's face, and breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness it wasn't the Grand Elder!
