Rong Hang was filming in the mountains of City A at that time, where the signal was only a pitiful one bar.
It took Rong Hang a while to see Jiang Yixing's message. He quickly opened the WeChat interface, raised his hand, but was speechless for a moment, only typing one word: "Hmm".
This one-word message took a long time to be sent out.
Rong Hang held his phone, slowly waiting for Jiang Yixing's reply.
When he expressed his desire to start acting, the Rong family began looking for opportunities.
Until recently, Rong Chengchang's former classmate, now a top-tier director in the film industry, Zheng Guiting, revealed that he was struggling with casting for his new film.
Rong Chengzhang made a quick decision and recommended his youngest son.
Zheng Guiting initially thought Rong Chengzhang was joking, after all, his youngest son wasn't in the entertainment industry.
Unexpectedly, Rong Chengchang spoke earnestly, and Zheng Guiting had no choice but to give him face and invite Rong Hang to audition.
After the script was handed to Rong Hang, he became very interested in the main villain character in the script.
Zheng Guiting, who had originally intended to give Rong Hang a minor role and simply do Rong Chengzhang a favor, never expected that Rong Hang would be one of the most important characters in the play as soon as he opened his mouth.
Zheng Guiting has been famous for a long time, and he treats his movies like his own sons. He can't just give away this kind of role because of a favor.
So, on the day of the audition...
Zheng Guiting, with a highly critical eye, criticized Rong Hang's performance but unexpectedly discovered a promising talent.
Even if he is not familiar with the camera, does not understand what it means to gradually build up emotions, and does not know how to use the small objects around him to control the rhythm.
But he is the kind of actor who is naturally gifted.
He immersed himself in the role, and from then on, the role became him, and he became the role.
Zheng Guiting went from being nonchalant to unconsciously sitting up straight.
Rong Hang's expression even gave him goosebumps; his understanding of the character was extremely profound, and his performance was extremely natural.
It almost made Zheng Guiting suspect that he hadn't received the script a few days in advance, but rather had studied it for several months.
Zheng Guiting deeply understands that there are too many good-looking people in the entertainment industry. Even someone with Rong Hang's looks could easily become just another face in the crowd without talent.
However, finding a truly talented actor is extremely rare!
This is a gift bestowed upon individuals by God; it is a blessing.
Zheng Guiting suppressed his excitement, his eyes shining behind his glasses. He was determined to have this actor.
Jiang Yixing, not receiving a reply from Rong Hang, put down her phone and turned to call out to Ning Zhou in the kitchen, "Did you just call me?"
Ningzhou poked his head out again, "Yes, set the plates out and ask them when they'll arrive."
Jiang Yixing said OK, first taking out the tableware from the kitchen and arranging them neatly, then finding Bai Mochuan's number on her phone.
Before the call could even be made, the doorbell rang.
Jiang Yixing opened the door, revealing Bai Mochuan's face, which had been completely covered.
He pulled down his glasses slightly, blinked, and exclaimed, "Oh!"
Jiang Yixing stepped back a little to give him some space, and Bai Mochuan walked in, carrying a bunch of desserts.
Jiang Yixing took it and placed it on the coffee table, reminding Bai Mochuan, "Wear the new blue slippers you bought."
"Oh, okay."
Upon arriving at his home in Ningzhou, Bai Mochuan was finally able to take off his hat, mask, and sunglasses, letting out a sigh of relief. "I was suffocating."
"What about Gu Ruini? Is it over?"
Jiang Yixing opened a bottle of iced cola and handed it to Bai Mochuan, who took it and gulped down a large mouthful. "Thanks."
Then he answered Jiang Yixing's question: "She, she finished earlier than me, she must have gone home first?"
Bai Mochuan recalled the image of Gu Ruini surrounded by her family's bodyguards and twitched the corner of his mouth.
Speak of the devil, and he appears. Bai Mochuan had only been sitting down for two minutes when the doorbell rang again.
Jiang Yixing's eyes lit up. "Ruini has arrived."
As soon as the door opened, it was indeed Gu Ruini.
Despite her small stature, she was carrying three large bags of packages, which seemed to be almost as tall as her when stacked up.
Jiang Yixing quickly took it; it was quite heavy. "You brought so much stuff?"
Gu Ruini nodded. "We've prepared some food at home."
While Gu Ruini was changing her shoes, Jiang Yixing and Bai Mochuan tidied up the food that Gu Ruini had brought.
The two exchanged a glance; this pile of ingredients was probably enough for the four of them to eat for three or four meals.
Once everyone had arrived, the three of them began helping Ningzhou prepare the ingredients.
As the sunlight outside gradually dimmed, the orange-red sunset cast a glow on the living room. Ningzhou carried the heart of the hot pot—the broth—out of the kitchen. The table was already laden with food, with space reserved in the middle for the broth.
There was also a small cart next to the table, which Jiang Yixing had bought online a few days ago, to store the dishes that couldn't fit on the table.
Ningzhou put the pot down, and as he sat down, Jiang Yixing led the applause.
"Thank you to today's chef, Mr. Ningzhou!"
"Whoa!" Bai Mochuan cheered in perfect unison.
Ningzhou raised his hands, feigning arrogance, and said, "Alright, let's eat."
The four raised their drinks and clinked glasses. The aluminum cans collided, making a crisp sound. The water droplets clinging to the outer wall shattered under the impact, and sunlight refracted through the tiny droplets, creating a rainbow of colors.
As summer draws to a close, chilled drinks paired with a hot pot create the most wonderful moments of the sweltering summer.
Amidst the peaceful scene, Jiang Yixing faced the crisp duck intestines and the smooth, tender beef, but what came to mind was Rong Hang's face.
Jiang Yixing clutched his chest.
Comparison is the greatest motivation for learning, and Jiang Yixing now deeply understands this.
