When Jiang Yixing entered the practice room, the music inside was deafening.
As soon as Jiang Yixing opened the door, he felt a different atmosphere.
The room was divided into two groups of people, standing on either side, clearly separated.
Jiang Yixing noticed that Tao Yating and Zhang Zhimin were in one of the groups. She walked between the two groups and saw that both groups looked unhappy.
Most people greeted Jiang Yixing upon seeing him.
"Hello, teaching assistant."
Jiang Yixing nodded. "What's wrong?"
No one answered her. The two groups looked at each other and fell silent for a moment.
Jiang Yixing walked to the sound system and turned off the music, and the practice room suddenly became quiet.
Zhang Zhimin was the first to answer the question: "There was a slight problem with the arrangement of the performance."
As soon as Zhang Zhimin finished speaking, a curly-haired girl opposite him retorted, "There's a problem. You guys are clearly not this style, so why do you insist on taking this song?"
Zhang Zhimin wasn't one to be trifled with, and she snapped, "Are you blaming me? Our two teams competed fairly. What's wrong with us liking one song?"
Jiang Yixing glanced at the person arguing with Zhang Zhimin, who was none other than Vivian Hsu, whose name was consistently ranked high in the list.
Although her ranking consistently hovered within the top fifteen, the number of spots for the final debut was far less than fifteen, so her chances were rather slim.
At this moment, Vivian Hsu also seemed to be in a bad mood, which Jiang Yixing guessed was related to her rather dangerous ranking.
Bai Rao stood behind Vivian Hsu, her expression also not good, but her tone was much gentler than Vivian Hsu's.
Bai Rao: "I know you like this song too, but our group has more vocalists, so I think we can perform this song better. The other song is more dynamic, which I think is also very suitable for your stage presence."
After Bai Rao finished speaking, Jiang Yixing roughly understood what had happened.
This final performance will be broadcast live. The production team has also opted not to assign any singing or dancing segments, instead allowing the contestants to perform everything themselves.
The conflict arose during the song and dance assignment. After listening to two songs, the two groups discussed for a while and ended up choosing the more difficult and soothing song. The melody of this song was melodious and definitely not the style of Zhang Zhimin's group.
Zhang Zhimin is ranked among the top in her group, she is almost an all-rounder with no weaknesses, and her dance skills are very strong, so she is indeed more suitable for the second song with a dynamic melody.
Vivian Hsu's group wasn't as strong as Zhang Zhimin's, but fortunately, they had Bai Rao and Vivian Hsu, two recognized vocal powerhouses, whose eyes lit up when they heard the first song.
This song was practically tailor-made for them. They weren't afraid of a difficult song; they were only afraid of not finding any highlights or getting on camera.
Moreover, given their vocal abilities, they should have no problem completing this performance. The soothing melody doesn't require any difficult dance moves, which would also help address their lack of dance skills.
Their group immediately decided to choose the first song, but unexpectedly, Zhang Zhimin and her group also wanted to choose this song.
Vivian Hsu immediately panicked. Their team's ranking wasn't as high as Zhang Zhimin's, and if they really had to compete, they might not be able to beat them. But she couldn't afford to lose this opportunity!
When Vivian Hsu saw Jiang Yixing enter, her anxiety intensified. Everyone knew that Jiang Yixing had a good relationship with Zhang Zhimin and Tao Yating. Jiang Yixing would definitely side with them!
After listening to Bai Rao's words, Tao Yating spoke slowly and deliberately: "Everyone attaches great importance to the last performance. Our group also wants to show our fans another side of us and let them know the results of our hard work."
Vivian Hsu was anxious and said directly, "Wouldn't the second song be better? That one better showcases your dance skills."
Tao Yating remained unmoved, saying, "Our vocals are actually quite good, but we've never had the opportunity to showcase them."
Vivian Hsu looked at Jiang Yixing, who hadn't spoken yet, and thought to herself, "But our dancing skills are really lacking!"
Bai Rao: "How about we sing a few lines a cappella and see who's more suitable?"
Bai Rao was very confident in her abilities.
Jiang Yixing finally spoke up, "Bai Rao's method is good."
"This is the final performance. Our two groups are not competing to see who is better, but to present a better stage to all the audience."
Jiang Yixing looked at the two groups and said, "The fact that you've made it this far fully proves your abilities. I think both groups should perform both songs and see what happens."
Bai Rao and Vivian Hsu exchanged a glance, realizing that things were going badly. They were fine with performing the first song, but with their abilities, they were definitely no match for Zhang Zhimin and the others when it came to the second one!
Jiang Yixing: "It's not about giving the first song to whoever performs the best. Instead, we'll see what each of your groups is best suited to perform and then redistribute the roles."
Vivian Hsu breathed a sigh of relief, but was still slightly worried about the fairness of Jiang Yixing's judgment.
"You guys prepare first, I'll contact Teacher Mao to be a judge."
Now everyone is fine.
However, Jiang Yixing still reminded everyone: "Please put your heart into preparing for both pieces. Don't just do a perfunctory job because you don't like the pieces."
Everyone readily agreed. Of course, they wouldn't dare to do that, since their every move was being filmed by cameras. How could they possibly be perfunctory?
Jiang Yixing quickly contacted Mao Helin and arranged to video call him back in 15 minutes.
Time was tight, and the two groups barely had time to rehearse their dance routines. They could only carefully study the rhythm of the music before preparing to go on stage for a freestyle.
Jiang Yixing connected to the video call and held up his phone to film everyone.
The first group to perform was Zhang Zhimin's group.
Surprisingly, their vocal abilities are actually quite good. Even though they can't hit some of the high notes yet, the overall performance of the song is quite good.
Bai Rao's group was the second to perform. She and Vivian Hsu completely carried the group, and their high notes were beautiful and clear. However, apart from Vivian Hsu and Bai Rao, the other members of their group did not have such outstanding singing skills, and their overall performance was not as good as Zhang Zhimin's group.
Jiang Yixing took out his phone, adjusted the camera to point at himself, and then discussed it with Mao Helin for a while.
After Vivian Hsu finished her performance, she felt even more dejected. She glanced at the members of Zhang Zhimin's group and realized that none of them were dragging the team down. Although some of their vocal abilities were not as good as hers, they were so harmonious as a whole.
Vivian Hsu felt that her group was doomed and that they definitely couldn't compete with Zhang Zhimin and the others.
But there was no time for them to be sad, as the performance of the second dance piece soon began.
