Chapter 60 Getting Furious: "I'll Die With You"

Chapter 60 Getting Furious: "I'll Die With You"

Cheng Shiyun sat next to him, picked up a summer homework book from the desk, and fanned herself.

What a terrible air conditioner! It's so unreliable, and it's still hot even after being on for so long. I'll have her dad replace it tonight.

A pleasant chuckle suddenly came from above.

Cheng Shiyun turned her head and saw Xie Shijin smiling.

To be fair, Xie Shijin has a very nice smile; the curve of her lips isn't too pronounced, and her voice is clear and melodious.

Cheng Shiyun didn't really understand what was so funny, but his gentle smile made her want to laugh too. She tugged at the corners of her mouth, then realized something was wrong and held back.

Xie Shijin handed her the cup: "Would you like some?"

"drink."

Why wouldn't she drink? She was dying of thirst, and she wanted to give him the first sip of water.

Cheng Shiyun lowered her head and took a small sip with demure composure. Just as she was about to speak, she choked on the water and coughed.

She shoved the cat paw cup back into Xie Shijin's hand, then reached for some toilet paper. But she stepped on the spilled water in the cup, slipped on her heel, and fell backward.

!!

I'm going to die.

Is she going to be killed again on the seventh day after her rebirth?

As expected, she didn't bump her head on the edge of the bed or fall to the floor. Instead, Xie Shijin grabbed her waist and they both fell onto the bed.

Cheng Shiyun's ears were burning hot; what kind of idol drama plot was this...?

Xie Shijin braced his uninjured elbow against her side, his tall figure looming over her like an impenetrable net, trapping her within.

He lowered his eyebrows and stared intently at her.

"It's an idol drama then," Cheng Shiyun thought, her heart pounding as she watched him, wishing he would get up quickly.

Xie Shijin seemed not to see the unspoken words in her eyes and lowered his head.

Cheng Shiyun thought he was going to kiss her, so she closed her eyes.

A slight warmth spread across my forehead.

Cheng Shiyun opened her eyes, and Xie Shijin pressed his forehead against hers, which felt warm.

Suddenly, it felt like a string of tiny wind chimes hung in my heart, tinkling softly as the wind blew through it.

Was it just her imagination?

She felt that Xie Shijin, at sixteen, was so inexperienced.

Will green apples grow on pine trees?

The young man had a lean waist and long arms. He held her in his arms and breathed deeply against her forehead.

The air around us was hot.

Xie Shijin still smells very good. Cheng Shiyun used to often take a deep breath of the air in his direction during class when he wasn't paying attention.

Especially in the summer, there are many boys in their class. After physical education class, Shiyun doesn't dare to go into the classroom at all. She always waits for him to come back before going in.

Cheng Shiyun had never been deskmates with any other boys before; he was the first.

Two years later, he developed a different smell.

Five-needle pine trees at Songshan Cemetery.

He must have visited her often, which is why he smelled of pine.

The warm scent of pine wood wafted from his nostrils, accompanied by a scorching heat.

Xie Shijin's eyes were a little moist, and her breathing was rapid, as if she was fighting with her for air.

"..."

Cheng Shiyun was so hot that sweat was seeping from the tip of her nose, and she suspected that she would suffocate if this continued.

She bluntly reminded him, "Don't press your hand down."

As soon as she spoke, his face smelled sweet. Xie Shijin unconsciously pursed his lips: "It didn't press down."

“…Oh, that’s good.” Cheng Shiyun subtly tilted her head, trying to avoid his gaze. “But you were pressing down on me.”

The girl was slender, and in the afternoon she changed into a pale yellow dress, the fabric of which was somewhat see-through.

Her narrow shoulders were slightly hunched, and her collarbones were straight.

Next, continue.

The slightly convex curve is the innocent outline of a girl just beginning to develop.

Like a delicate gardenia bud just emerging in early summer, held in place by a thin shoulder strap.

Xie Shijin didn't respond to her or get up, and Cheng Shiyun turned her face away again.

Then she saw Xie Shijin's gaze linger on her chest.

Cheng Shiyun: "What are you looking at?"

Xie Shijin looked away as if he had been burned, not daring to look at her, and swallowed hard as he turned his face away.

"Get up!" Cheng Shiyun pushed him, but he didn't budge. "You're so heavy..."

Xie Shijin reacted a beat too late, and propped himself up on his arms.

Cheng Shiyun cried out in pain: "Hiss!"

He quickly lay down again, and Cheng Shiyun wanted to hit him: "Xie Shijin, what are you doing? That hurts!"

"...I didn't do anything." He looked down and felt wronged. "Your hair got caught on my sleeve."

Cheng Shiyun turned her head to the side, and it really was true.

Xie Shijin's shirt was probably a bit hot, so one button on the collar was undone. When he leaned over, it was loose and baggy, and you could see his narrow, taut waist and abdomen through the collar.

Cheng Shiyun blinked.

"...What are you looking at?" He paused for a moment, a little nervous.

He would be at a loss whenever she looked at his imperfect body.

Cheng Shiyun was not to be outdone. Her eyes darted around, but she pretended to be calm and said, "Look at you, it's not like you haven't seen it before."

Not only have I seen it, but I've also hugged and touched it.

She had touched those pale pink scars more than once, but each time she saw them, her heart would still sting. Cheng Shiyun said with a stern face, "Don't move."

Xie Shijin let out a breath: "...I didn't move."

"Don't breathe either."

"..."

She wanted to suffocate him.

So the green apple quickly turned into a ripe apple, and Xie Shijin's face gradually turned red. He was holding it in.

Cheng Shiyun turned her face away and began to untangle the hair that was tangled in his cufflinks.

After time reversed, she didn't die, and the scar on his wrist didn't grow back; it remained snow-white. While relieved, Cheng Shiyun was also very anxious.

She tried to untangle those few strands of hair twice, but couldn't get them out, and she lost patience.

Ugh, this is so annoying, I might as well just tear it apart.

Xie Shijin said in a low voice, "Don't talk nonsense."

Cheng Shiyun was angry with herself: "It can't be untied without tearing it apart."

Just then, she heard the sound of a door opening. She looked up and saw that Xie Shijin's expression had changed; he had heard it too.

It's not a hallucination!

Cheng Shiyun's fingers tightened, gripping his sleeve: "My parents are back?"

“Uncle Cheng?” Ni Jiaqi’s voice rang out in the living room.

Cheng Shiyun's eyes widened: "Ni Jiaqi is here!"

"?" Xie Shijin frowned, displeased. "Why is he here?"

Cheng Shiyun said in a low voice, "How should I know!"

"Cheng Shiyun? Aunt Ran?" Ni Jiaqi paced around the living room twice. "Why aren't they home? Where did they go?"

Xie Shijin pressed further, "How did he... get a key to your house? Did you give it to him? Does he come here often? Has he ever been into your bedroom?"

Cheng Shiyun covered his mouth: "Shut up."

His train of thought was completely disrupted. The girl's palm was warm and soft, and a sweet scent lingered in his nose.

He looked at her flustered appearance.

At this moment, they were the closest people to him, and he was no longer unhappy.

"Oh no, my phone, my phone." Ni Jiaqi will definitely call her if he can't find her. She didn't put it on silent. Cheng Shiyun glanced at the desk and said, "Bring me my phone."

"I can't get it." He only has one hand.

Cheng Shiyun quickly pulled off the two strands of hair and pushed him twice, saying, "Get up."

She was getting really anxious. Xie Shijin got up, took two steps, and locked the bedroom door from the inside.

At that very moment, Ni Jiaqi walked over and pressed the doorknob twice, and Cheng Shiyun's heart almost jumped out of her throat.

Ni Jiaqi knocked on the bedroom door: "Cheng Shiyun?"

Xie Shijin leaned against the door, her eyes slightly raised, and smiled at her.

She had left the window open while the air conditioner was on, and the warm air made her face flushed, a feeling that also warmed his heart.

Cheng Shiyun shook her head at him, put her finger to her lips, and shushed him.

Then she made a choking motion, as if she was about to pounce on him and strangle him if he dared to speak.

Xie Shijin pursed her lips. What was there to hide?

The next second, the phone on the table started vibrating.

Cheng Shiyun quickly grabbed the phone, pressed the mute button, and then, as if inadvertently admitting her mistake, sent a message to Ni Jiaqi: [I'm not home, don't come looking for me!]

“Where did you go?” Ni Jiaqi sent her a voice message.

Cheng Shiyun didn't return. The footsteps outside the door faded away, and after a while, the sound of the door opening and closing came again.

"Have they left?" After waiting for more than a minute, Cheng Shiyun asked quietly.

Xie Shijin opened the bedroom door, glanced inside, then closed it again: "I'm leaving."

Cheng Shiyun slumped her shoulders and let out a long sigh of relief.

"When are you going to tell him?" Xie Shijin asked, regaining his composure.

Cheng Shiyun scratched her scalp, which was aching from being pulled: "What did you say?"

Xie Shijin choked: "..."

Didn't she like him? He wasn't just imagining things, was he?

She probably never even considered telling Ni Jiaqi that she liked him.

Yes, this is between the two of them, there's no need to tell anyone else, so he swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue: "...It's nothing."

Cheng Shiyun found him inexplicable.

Xie Shijin walked over, tucked his legs in, and sat down properly.

The air was thick and silent.

Cheng Shiyun went to close the window.

Her mouth was so dry and hot, so she grabbed the water glass on the desk and said, "I'll go get another glass of water."

"I'm not thirsty."

"Who said you got to drink it!"

Cheng Shiyun ran out of the bedroom without looking back.

Xie Shijin wanted to go out with her, but almost got slammed in the face by the door again: "..."

He had no choice but to sit back on the edge of the bed, taking deep, quiet breaths to try and calm his heartbeat and breathing.

It can't be flattened.

He took two sheets of toilet paper from the desk and wiped the water off the floor so she wouldn't slip and fall when she came in.

Cheng Shiyun hasn't returned yet.

I doubt they'll be back anytime soon.

He began to look around her room again. There were many things on her desk: a comb, hair clips, skincare products, summer homework, and a transparent glass jar for folding paper stars.

After scanning around, Xie Shijin's gaze settled on the teddy bear next to the pillow. It was quite large, and its right ear had fallen off and hadn't been stitched up yet.

He reached out and pinched his other ear.

It's so soft, it feels great.

...

Cheng Shiyun stood in front of the water dispenser and gulped down a large glass of water.

Xie Shijin stared at her for so long but didn't kiss her.

Is it that she can't kiss anymore?

She touched her lips; they were quite soft.

The same thing happened at the hospital last time. She closed her eyes and waited, but the kiss she was waiting for never came. She almost fell asleep while waiting.

After drinking a large glass of water, Cheng Shiyun went to the bathroom to check on herself and make sure her face wasn't red before returning to her bedroom.

Xie Shijin is looking at her photos.

That photo was taken when she entered high school, next to the wall of honor below the Boxue Building.

At that time, she had just entered high school and hoped that her photo from her first monthly exam could also be hung on this wall.

Ran Hongyin took the photos of her, and they were developed later.

It was an ordinary photo, nothing special, but Xie Shijin kept staring at it, even lost in thought.

Looking at his somber expression, Cheng Shiyun's heart stirred, and she asked, "Is my funeral portrait... this photo?"

Xie Shijin nodded and handed it to her: "Yes."

Cheng Shiyun sat down on the edge of the bed, holding the photo. Her fingers traced the frame, and she said with a hint of surprised delight, "It's actually quite beautiful..."

Xie Shijin was right.

She was smiling happily in the photo; you wouldn't know it was a funeral portrait unless you knew it was her last.

Her dad really knows how to choose a portrait for her funeral.

Cheng Shiyun looked at the photo again and again, and said, "When I die, I want this photo to be my funeral portrait."

Xie Shijin's eyelashes trembled, and she frowned: "Don't say that."

His attitude was somewhat resistant, or rather, he reacted to the pressure.

"Can't you say death?" Cheng Shiyun looked up at him, smiled, and revealed shallow dimples on her cheeks. "But everyone dies."

Whether you're twenty, forty, or eighty, you'll eventually die.

Although she has died many times, Cheng Shiyun still feels quite sad at the thought that she will be buried in Songshan Cemetery one day: "After I die, I will not be able to see my parents anymore, and I will be very lonely."

If she hadn't met Xie Shijin, she would probably have turned into a cat or snake and died a messy death in the end.

"I'll stay with you," Xie Shijin said.

Cheng Shiyun was taken aback: "Why are you keeping me company?"

Xie Shijin sat down beside her, took her hand, and spoke calmly and earnestly.

"I'll die with you."

Through his deep, bright pupils, Cheng Shiyun seemed to see him again two years later.

Cheng Shiyun knew he meant what he said.

She felt a long-lost sensation of palpitations and burning pain.

Perhaps he felt the same way every time she casually mentioned her life or death, and Cheng Shiyun finally understood that such things should not be joked about at all.

"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!" Cheng Shiyun covered his mouth. "Who wants you to die with me?"

They haven't even had a proper relationship yet, so she can't bear to see him die.

...

In early August, half a month after Guo Renyi's attempted murder.

After completing the evidence collection, the police formally requested the procuratorate to approve the arrest of Guo Renyi.

Yang Shengnan called and said that Guo Renyi was guilty of intentional homicide. The facts were clear and the evidence was conclusive. In addition, he had forcibly raped/sexually assaulted/molested multiple underage female students. With multiple crimes combined, he would most likely be sentenced to 25 years in prison or life imprisonment in the first instance.

Yang Shengnan also said, "Feng Yue wants to see you."

Feng Yue is currently being held in a juvenile detention center. Her parents haven't visited her in over a month, and she doesn't even have a change of clothes. It was the police officers at the detention center who contacted the community women's federation, who delivered two sets of clothes to her.

It sounded pitiful, but Cheng Shiyun refused: "I have nothing to say to her."

Feng Yue probably wanted to apologize to her, but she didn't want to hear it.

Feng Yue may have cried for her after she died.

But her parents shed even more tears.

Guo Renyi said that it was her kindness and soft heart that killed her. Cheng Shiyun felt that he was right, but if she could do it all over again, she would probably still do the same thing. It wasn't that she hoped Feng Yue would have a change of heart, but rather that she wanted to be able to face herself without guilt.

Whether Feng Yue cries her heart out or sincerely repents, Cheng Shiyun will never forgive her, so there's no need for her to see her again.

After time was reversed, Xie Shijin saved more than just Cheng Shiyun.

In the original timeline, one night in early August 2016, Xie Pingxue, while drunk, followed and threatened a female student with a heart condition, causing her to suffer a sudden heart attack and die. Xie Pingxue was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

This time, the girl suffered a heart attack but was rescued in time and did not die. However, Xie Pingxue was still detained. Xie Shijin instructed the girl's parents to sue Xie Pingxue for the crime of provoking trouble and to file a lawsuit for more than two years.

Cheng Shiyun learned about this several days later.

She then explained why Xie Shijin hadn't contacted her these past few days; it turned out he had been following Xie Pingxue.

He's always like this; when something dangerous happens, he takes it upon himself to not tell her. Cheng Shiyun is planning to confront him tonight.

The family of three finished watching the movie and had dinner, and returned home at 7:30 pm.

Cheng Shiyun quickly dashed into the bathroom, had a battle with the bottles and jars, and then came out clean and refreshed.

"Taking a shower so early?" Ran Hongyin brought out freshly squeezed watermelon juice from the kitchen.

"It's so hot, I feel better after taking a shower."

Watermelon juice is sweet and refreshing, and Cheng Shiyun gulped down half a glass before going into her bedroom to take out the two new dresses that Ran Hongyin had bought for her while shopping yesterday afternoon.

The freshly washed dress is comfortable and fragrant; she's going to wear it tonight.

Which one should I wear?

I'm having trouble making decisions.

Cheng Shiyun took out the new phone. Although she said she didn't want a new phone, she was still very happy that Cheng Jinghua bought it for her.

She had also transferred the tabby cat keychain to her new phone. She opened Xie Shijin's chat window: [Poke]

Which one looks better?

Cheng Shiyun sat at her desk, cupping her face in her hands, waiting for a reply.

She turned my phone screen back on after it was off, and two minutes have passed! Why hasn't she replied yet?

Cheng Shiyun couldn't wait for the missing person to return, so she grabbed two skirts and ran to the living room.

Cheng Jinghua was sitting on the sofa watching TV when Cheng Shiyun called out to him, "Dad, which show do you think is better?"

“They all look good.” Cheng Jinghua turned around and smiled. “My daughter is so beautiful, she looks good in anything.”

hehe.

Men are all like that, they're just going through the motions.

Cheng Shiyun stopped asking him and turned to Ran Hongyin, holding up two dresses in front of her: "Where's Mom?"

Ran Hongyin's gaze was complicated as she said, "You're not allowed to go out tonight."

"Why?" she asked, her shoulders slumped.

Ran Hongyin smiled slightly: "You're really going out?"

Cheng Shiyun was startled.

Oh no, we've been tricked.

Cheng Shiyun bit her lip, trying to cover up her misunderstanding: "I want to go downstairs to buy ice cream."

“There’s some in the fridge.” Ran Hongyin pressed the remote control and changed the channel. “Your dad bought a whole case of these yesterday, all of them are your favorite foods.”

Cheng Shiyun: "...Then I'll go downstairs to throw out the trash."

Ran Hongyin didn't say anything, and Cheng Shiyun went over to look at the trash can.

Empty.

She's throwing air.

Since her accident, Ms. Ran has been keeping a closer eye on her.

Cheng Shiyun smoothed her hair, the ends of which were still wet from the blow dry, and then sheepishly returned to her bedroom, carrying her skirt.

As soon as I closed the door, the phone on my desk lit up.

Xie Shijin replied to her message: [White.]

Cheng Shiyun chuckled; she also thought white looked better.

The phone on the sink flashed, and Xie Shijin glanced down at it.

Cheng Shiyun asked him, "Where did you just go?"

Looking in the mirror.

His lips were a little red, as if he had been hit.

He had just washed his face, and his hands were still wet. Typing with one hand was a bit slippery, and he accidentally typed the wrong thing several times: "[Can we video chat tonight?]"

The video can cover the mouth.

Cheng Shiyun: [You don't want to see me?]

Cheng Shiyun: [Okay, I won't go. I don't want to go out anyway.]

Cheng Shiyun: [I'm not going to video chat anymore, I'm going to sleep.]

Cheng Shiyun: [Good night.]

Cheng Shiyun: [zzZ]

"..."

Xie Shijin: [I want to see you.]

Xie Shijin: [I'm going out.]

Xie Shijin: [Five minutes.]

He can run a ten-minute walk in five minutes.

He opened the bathroom door and bumped into his grandmother coming out of the bedroom.

He changed into clean clothes, and there were still water droplets on his hair, indicating that he had just taken a shower.

"Where are you going?" Grandma goes to bed early. She'll come out to watch TV for a while, and then she'll be getting ready to go to bed at nine o'clock.

Xie Shijin changed his shoes at the door, picked up the trash bag by the door, and said in a calm voice, "Throw away the trash."

Grandma said, "It's not in the way of us, just throw it away tomorrow."

"...I just did it on a whim."

Is it on my way or just passing by? Grandma saw through it but didn't say anything, just waved her hand and said, "Okay, be careful. Are her parents home? Should we bring them some fruit?"

Xie Shijin said, "I'm not going to her house."

"Where to? It's so hot outside, don't take them too far."

"..."

Grandma's smile was kind and gentle: "Alright, alright, Grandma won't ask anymore, go on your way."

After he left, Grandma went to the balcony window.

The boy ran downstairs, faster and faster, his white clothes fluttering in the evening breeze.

Xie Pingxue and He Sumei divorced early, and Xie Shijin was abandoned by the couple when she was eight years old. Xie Pingxue would come and cause trouble every few days, disrupting the peace of the house. His grandmother rarely saw him so happy.

Her grandson was a man of few words, but even from such a distance, she could feel his joy and excitement without him having to say a word.

...

A quarter past eight o'clock, Xie Shijin sent her a message saying that he had arrived, and Cheng Shiyun tiptoed to open the bedroom door.

As they reached the door, Ran Hongyin turned around and gave her a thorough once-over: "Where are you going?"

“Xie Shijin said… he has something to give me.” Cheng Shiyun immediately stood at attention. “He’s coming to find me downstairs, he won’t go too far.”

Ran Hongyin checked the time again and relented, "You must be back before ten o'clock."

"receive!"

"I love you, Mom! And I love you, Dad!"

In the blink of an eye, they disappeared without a trace.

The living room was quiet. Cheng Jinghua came to her senses and asked, "Is your daughter dating someone?"

Ran Hongyin said worriedly, "You'll be in your second year of high school soon, early dating is not allowed."

"Didn't you also date me when we were in high school?" Cheng Jinghua teased her. "Is it only allowed for officials to set fires, but not for ordinary people to light lamps?"

He said, "Xiao Xie is a good kid, rare in his composure and maturity, and his grades are also good."

Ran Hongyin wasn't worried about her daughter being led astray. She said, "I'm afraid she won't be able to distinguish between gratitude and love."

In such a life-or-death situation, it's easy to fall into the "suspension bridge effect," mistaking dependence and gratitude in dire straits for genuine affection.

Once she calms down, this misunderstanding will be harmful to both herself and the other person.

Cheng Jinghua listened and felt that his wife's concerns were not unfounded. He nodded thoughtfully, "We should find an opportunity to have a good talk with her."

...

At eight o'clock on the other side, Ni Jiaqi went out carrying a box of peaches.

It was sent by someone from his hometown. They said it was grown by their own family and hadn't been sprayed with pesticides. His parents asked him to send a box to the Cheng family.

His family used to live in the teachers' apartment building; Cheng Shiyun lived on the fourth floor, and his family lived on the third. Last year, his father made money in business, so his mother quit her teaching job and moved away. Now the two families live quite far apart; it takes about twenty minutes by taxi.

The car stopped in front of the teachers' apartment building. Ni Jiaqi paid the fare, opened the car door and got out. Suddenly, he saw a girl dressed like a butterfly fly down.

Ni Jiaqi was overjoyed, thinking that Cheng Shiyun had come to pick him up. Just as he was about to speak, he saw her skipping away without even turning her head in his direction.

Enraged, Ni Jiaqi went after her to settle the score.

Cheng Shiyun noticed Xie Shijin from afar.

In the evenings, her parents would occasionally stroll around downstairs after dinner. Cheng Shiyun was afraid of being seen by them, so she chose the school gate as the meeting place. But every time she walked out of the community gate and turned a corner, she would see Xie Shijin. He always came to pick her up.

Xie Shijin stood by the wall. Behind him was an enclosed flower bed where he could rest and cool off, but it was covered in dust. He didn't sit down or play on his phone; he waited for her to come out with great anticipation.

Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket.

Cheng Shiyun said it would take another two minutes to arrive.

All right.

He was thinking of going upstairs to find her.

Cheng Shiyun deliberately said she was late, then tiptoed onto the flower bed, and quietly reached out to cover his eyes when he wasn't looking.

Standing on the flower bed, she was much taller than him. Cheng Shiyun bent down, rested her chin on Xie Shijin's shoulder, and whispered in his ear, "Guess who I am?"

A few meters away, Ni Jiaqi, who witnessed the entire scene, stared wide-eyed, his whole body stiffened, and the peaches he was holding suddenly lost their sweetness.

...

Xie Shijin blinked, her long, soft eyelashes brushing against her palm.

She smells so good.

He was standing in the shadows, with a streetlamp behind him. He could see his shadow on the ground. Knowing she was coming, he pretended to be caught off guard and startled, not daring to move: "Is that Cheng Shiyun?"

The girl's voice was even deeper: "No!"

“Little cloud,” he said.

Cheng Shiyun released her grip, her voice annoyed: "Don't call me by my nickname."

Xie Shijin turned around and looked up.

Cheng Shiyun wasn't really angry; she stood with her hands behind her back, looking down at him.

Xie Shijin was tall, and he always had to look down when he spoke to her. Finally, she had a chance to look at him like this.

This angle definitely makes your face look smaller.

Cheng Shiyun's gaze lingered unconsciously on his face, from his sharp brow bone to his high nose bridge, and then to his slightly pursed thin lips. The young man's features were handsome and well-proportioned, every part of him was just right, comfortable and pleasing to the eye, making it hard to look away.

Her gaze was like a pair of hands gently touching his face.

Fortunately, he had washed his face and taken a shower.

Xie Shijin glanced at her smooth, bare, slender, and straight calves: "A new dress?"

"Hmm, you have good taste."

Xie Shijin said, "So beautiful."

He didn't use fancy words, but his praise was genuine.

Cheng Shiyun knew he was sincere; she could see his eyes light up even in the dim light.

Xie Shijin grabbed her knees and lifted her down, then opened his arms and hugged her tightly.

Having not seen each other all day, he held her very tightly, and Cheng Shiyun felt a little pain from his embrace, but she subconsciously hugged him even tighter, so tight that she wanted to bury herself inside him.

After hugging him contentedly for a few minutes, Cheng Shiyun looked up and suddenly noticed that the corners of his mouth were red.

"You hit Xie Pingxue again?" Xie Shijin didn't like his father, so Cheng Shiyun simply called him by his name.

Xie Shijin said gently, "No, we didn't fight."

"What happened to your mouth?"

No wonder I didn't want to meet her; I was afraid she would come after me.

Xie Shijin said, "It's like getting a sore throat."

"Do you think I'm stupid?" Cheng Shiyun pinched his chin, looking him up and down as if checking for injuries on other parts of his face. "Tell me honestly, who started it?"

After being glared at by her a few times, he was starting to feel overwhelmed.

"I didn't lay a hand on her." Xie Shijin grabbed her hand and cupped it in his palm. "I'm not lying to you, I was just really angry."

Cheng Shiyun raised an eyebrow, half-believing and half-doubting: "Why would you suddenly get a sore throat?"

Xie Shijin pulled her domineering hand over and pressed it against his chest: "...What do you think?"

I call her every night, and I dream about her every night.

But in his dreams, there were no longer cold, rainy days and endless, dark roads.

It was her bright face and her cheerful smile that struck me.

It's hard not to get a sore throat every day like this.

Beneath her palm, his heart pounded rapidly, each beat a deep thud against her hand.

Xie Shijin tightened his grip on her wrist, feeling her pulse beating in sync with his own.

She was also tempted.

This delightful discovery made him smile.

Xie Shijin: "Now you know?"

Cheng Shiyun pinched his arm: "Still laughing."
