Chapter 172 A Gift Without Burden (1/2)

Sehun and Jongin sneaked back to the hat shop. This time, without Chanyeol around, they could finally ask about prices openly.

When the shop assistant smiled and announced "65,000 yuan," the two of them gasped simultaneously.

"Too expensive!" Sehun blurted out.

Jongin was still saying, "How about we pick out some other hats..." before Sehun had already found the perfect theoretical support for his words.

He crossed his arms, raised his chin slightly, and adopted a mysterious expression:

"Wouldn't it be pointless to just buy him what he wants?" His tone was full of confidence that "I understand the philosophy of gift-giving."

“That’s right, that’s right!” Zhong Ren immediately understood and nodded hurriedly, not forgetting to add, as if to cover up his mistake, “It’s not because it’s too expensive.”

Sehun immediately chimed in, waving his hand dramatically, "Of course not, what's so expensive about it?" as if 65,000 was just small change to him.

At this moment, Zhong Ren secretly looked at the price tags of other hats and was shocked by the prices again, his eyes widening in surprise.

The two stood there in the shop for a long time, like two statues who had been frightened into silence.

"Should we go to another place?" Sehun finally broke the silence and offered a practical suggestion.

“Okay, let’s go somewhere else.” Zhong Ren readily agreed.

"Okay." Sehun bowed to the shop assistant as he turned around, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, please stay a while." He left with impeccable manners.

As soon as they stepped out of the store, the two immediately began to comfort themselves.

Shi Xian put his hands in his pockets and said seriously, "I can't have anything that would be a burden."

Jongin immediately touched his heart and continued the scene: "That's right, it will make the other person feel sorry for you."

"You have to feel at ease when you receive gifts." Sehun also touched his heart in agreement.

“The person giving it will also feel at ease.” Zhong Ren continued to refine this “burden theory.”

"That's right, that's right."

"Both sides need to feel at ease."

"That's right."

They spoke of their self-created "burden-free gift-giving theory" with great conviction, as if they weren't the ones who had just complained about the price.

“What can I buy, that kind?” Sehun began to think of alternatives.

“Buying food doesn’t seem like a bad idea,” Zhong Ren offered a practical suggestion.

"The others are all quite a burden."

“That’s right,” Zhong Ren concluded, “Let’s keep it simple.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jongin turned his head and his eyes suddenly lit up!

In my line of sight, an older woman was setting up a stall by the roadside to sell jewelry.

"Oh, isn't this kind of place pretty good?" He thought as if he had discovered a new continent.

"Oh, what is this?" Sehun exclaimed exaggeratedly, and the two of them were instantly attracted by this treasure warehouse.

"What price range are these?" Zhong Ren asked, his first question revealing his caution after being intimidated by the high prices.

The auntie replied enthusiastically, "It's 5,000, but I can make it a little cheaper."

"I want to buy a gift for my older brother." Jongin clenched his hands, striking a pose like an obedient younger brother.

"The kind that won't burden people," Sehun quickly added, highlighting their core requirement.

The older woman chuckled, "You're quite polite." She then walked over to their side to organize the goods.

The two began to carefully select one, with Sehun pointing to an extravagant headdress and saying, "He doesn't like this kind of look."

Jongin chimed in, "It's relatively simple." He clearly knew his older brother's preferences very well.

Just as they were engrossed in choosing, Sehun suddenly remembered a crucial question and nudged Jongin with his elbow: "But did you bring your wallet?"

"You didn't bring it?" Jongin's eyes widened instantly, and he pointed a thumbs-up at Sehun, his face full of disbelief.

"I only brought my card, I can't swipe it here, can I?" Sehun gestured with his hands as if he were swiping a card, looking innocent.

Amid the auntie's hearty laughter, Jongin spoke up, "Oh, is that so? Thinking about that?" His tone was full of helplessness, as if to say, "How could I possibly go shopping with someone like you who didn't bring any money?"

Sehun bent over, clapped his hands, and laughed, finding the situation utterly ridiculous.

Amid the aunt's well-intentioned scolding, Jongin reached into his pockets with both hands, only to realize in despair, "Oh really, I didn't bring my wallet!" He slapped Sehun's arm hard, feeling both annoyed and amused.

The two had no choice but to put down the carefully selected jewelry and bow repeatedly to the woman, saying, "Goodbye, sorry!" As they turned to leave, Zhong Ren didn't forget to save face, saying, "We'll come back with the money!"

"Take out the money and come back!" the auntie still greeted him warmly.

After successfully "brainwashing" the roadside stall owner, the two mischievous maknaes continued to wander along the tree-lined road, like two happy little dogs searching for treasure.

"I didn't expect that, you have to swipe a card." Jongin rubbed his nose, still feeling annoyed about missing out on the roadside trinkets.

"What a pity." Sehun's tone was full of regret for missing out on a hundred million.

“It’s hard to find something that doesn’t carry any burden!” Jongin continued to marvel at their “gift-giving philosophy.” Then, turning his head, his eyes suddenly lit up as if he had discovered a new continent. He pointed to the other side of the street and said, “I think that’s a good place.”

Sehun followed his gaze and saw a convenience store.

“There must be some hidden gems in that kind of place,” Zhong Ren said confidently, as if the convenience store were some kind of high-end boutique.

“It seems like it would be a good fit.” Sehun agreed wholeheartedly, and the two instantly reached a consensus.

"Oh, here, here!" Zhongren exclaimed, and the two of them ran excitedly toward the convenience store like children who had discovered a candy store.

For them, this is practically a second treasure trove—how perfect! And they can definitely pay by card!

Upon entering the convenience store, the two headed straight for the shelves to begin their "treasure hunt."

Standing in front of a row of daily necessities, Jongin began his "burden-free" sales pitch.

"Playing on the computer for a long time will hurt your eyes," he analyzed seriously, then picked up a huge family-sized bottle of contact lens cleaning solution, exclaiming with exaggerated disgust, "Using such a large bottle is quite cumbersome at this time." It was as if the bottle of cleaning solution weighed a ton.

"Oh dear~ this won't do." Sehun shook his head in agreement, looking like the gift was too heavy a burden.

“No way,” Jongin said definitively, then quickly picked up a small travel-sized bottle next to him and held it high like a trophy, the small bottle completely in his hand.

"That's why we need to use something small! Small!" he said smugly, "We need something small so we won't feel burdened."

Sehun applauded enthusiastically from the side, then took the small bottle and examined it carefully, trying to find more advantages: "And this..."

“It looks great.” Jongin took it back and put it down, completing the first “burden-free product” certification.

Sehun continued, "Chanyeol hyung wears contact lenses, doesn't he?"
