Chapter 40 New Trainee

Time passed quickly like flowing water, and in the blink of an eye it was already late May.

The cherry blossoms in Seoul have long since withered, and the air is filled with the scent of early summer. The trees along the streets are becoming more lush, and the sound of cicadas is beginning to be heard intermittently.

Ouyang Guang shuttled between school, company and dormitory every day, leading a high-intensity life. His schedule was filled with study and training, leaving him with almost no free time.

In the past two months, his vocal music and rap have been ranked first in Class B and Class C respectively, and his dance has also entered Class B this month. The speed of his improvement has made the teachers couldn't help but admire him.

In the eyes of many practitioners, he is a powerful yet difficult to approach existence.

On weekends, when school is on vacation, Ouyangguang spends the whole day training in the company.

The sunlight slanted in through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the practice room. The strands of hair on Ouyang Guang's forehead were soaked with sweat and stuck to her brow bones.

He stared at his movements in the mirror, took a half step back with his right foot, lowered his left shoulder, and drew a neat arc with his right hand to the beat.

The speakers were playing a dance song choreographed by the company, with a tempo so fast that it was hard to breathe.

"Do it again." The dance teacher clapped his hands, "Ouyang Guang, your wave is not smooth enough."

Ouyang Guang nodded, said nothing, and just silently returned to the starting position. The music started again, and his body moved to the beat, this time paying special attention to the continuity of his waist movements.

Three hours of continuous training made his calf muscles tremble slightly, but he didn't even frown.

"Okay, that's all for today." The teacher finally announced the end of get out of class, "Everyone will practice for two extra hours before the assessment next week."

The trainees collapsed on the ground in twos and threes, only Ouyang Guang went straight to the corner, picked up the mineral water and drank half a bottle in one breath. He wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand and glanced at the clock on the wall - 12:30, there was still half an hour for lunch.

"Hey, Xiaoguang!" Wu Sehun rushed over from behind and hung on his shoulders, "I'm starving. There's spicy fried pork in the Tian Canteen."

Ouyang Guang staggered after being knocked by him, and shook his shoulders in disgust: "Get down, it's too heavy."

"Junmyeon said we'd eat together later," Wu Sehun insisted, nagging him to leave, "Seunghyun and the others are already in the cafeteria."

"Brother Junmian came to the company today?" Ouyang Guang was a little surprised!

Maybe it’s because I’ve waited too long. After my brother Junmian was admitted to university, I rarely see him in the company.

The company cafeteria is always bustling with people. Ouyang Guang walked through the crowd with his plate and saw from afar that Zhang Yixing's table was already full of people - Kim Seung Hyun was telling a joke, Kim Junmyeon was laughing so hard that his eyes narrowed into slits, and Park Chanyeol was clapping his hands exaggeratedly on the table.

"Xiao Guang! Over here!" Zhang Yixing waved at him.

As soon as Ouyang Guang sat down, Jin Shengxian came over mysteriously and said, "Did you hear that there are a few trainees from the company?"

"Oh." Ouyangguang picked up a piece of spicy cabbage and showed no interest.

"Yes, I heard there are two very good ones." Kim Seung-hyun lowered his voice, with a little gossip excitement in his eyes, "One is a very good singer, and the other..." He paused and smiled mysteriously, "seems to be from China, and is very beautiful, like a little deer."

Wu Se-hun interrupted: "Don't you know Yixing? What's his name, Lu?"

"Lu Han," Zhang Yixing nodded, "He's from Beijing, and he's really good-looking."

Ouyang Guang was not very interested and lowered his head to continue eating.

"Hey, Xiaoguang, aren't you curious?" Kim Seung-hyun waved his hand in front of him.

"What are you curious about?" Ouyang Guang didn't even raise his head.

"Hey, you Chinese here to practice! Aren't you guys from the same hometown?"

Ouyang Guang then put down his chopsticks and said expressionlessly: "I'm busy! I don't have time!"

He never cared about the various gossips in the company, especially the future practice - no matter how outstanding their abilities or looks, it had nothing to do with him.

Now, he only has two things in his mind: study and training. The first thing he does when he opens his eyes every morning is to plan the training plan for the day in his mind; in the evening, after training, he returns to the dormitory and reviews the next day's homework.

This almost paranoid focus allowed him to keep the first place in the company's monthly evaluation while attending classes at school. The teachers all said that Ouyang Guang had a fighting spirit, like a tireless little animal, always running forward.

"Xiao Guang, you should relax a bit." Zhang Yixing has been advising him recently, "Training should be a combination of work and rest."

But Ouyang Guang just shook his head: "Brother Yixing, compared to you, I am still far behind."

He knew clearly that in this competitive road, he would be eliminated if he was not careful.

New people come and go every day. Those once promising trainees may leave the company because of a failed assessment. Ouyang Guang does not allow himself to be one of them.
