Chapter 42 Upgrading Class A

Time passed quickly during the intense training, and in the blink of an eye it was the end of the month evaluation day.

On the day of the month-end evaluation, a tense atmosphere filled the corridor in the trainee rest area.

Ouyang Guang sat on the bench holding his guitar, his slender fingers unconsciously tapping the rhythm of "TATTOO" on the guitar case.

The sunlight slanted in through the window at the end of the corridor, casting a patch of tiny shadows under his drooping eyelashes.

"Next, Ouyang Guang." The staff's voice sounded in the corridor.

He took a deep breath, stood up with his guitar in his arms, and walked towards the stage.

"Today I'm going to perform CNBLUE's "TATTOO", an adapted version." His voice was particularly clear in the quiet examination room.

As the prelude sounded, his fingers danced flexibly on the strings. Different from the original version, this version added more improvisational blues elements, making the whole song more tense.

Ouyang Guang closed his eyes slightly and sang the first verse, "You penetrated into my heart like a tattoo." His voice was low and restrained, as if he was suppressing some emotion that was about to burst out.

As the music progressed, his performance gradually relaxed.

When singing the chorus, Ouyang Guang was completely immersed in the music. His voice was sometimes low like a whisper, and sometimes high like a shout, expressing the sorrow and persistence in the song vividly.

When he sang the high notes, he suddenly raised his head, his neck formed a taut arc, and the teardrop mole on the lower left side of his right eye became faintly visible as his expression changed.

In the first verse, he added his own arrangement. In this section, he sang in a more hoarse voice, moved his fingers quickly on the strings, and improvised blues notes to add several delicate layers to the original song.

Sweat dripped down his temple, sparkling in the spotlight.

In the final chorus, he completely let go of his voice, and the sense of power created by the resonance of his chest made several teachers sit down at the same time.

When the last note fell, he stroked the strings heavily with his fingers, making a short trill.

At the end of the performance, there was a brief silence in the judging room, followed by warm applause.

Han Sung-soo, sitting on the judges' panel, smiled with satisfaction and wrote something on the evaluation sheet.

"This arrangement," a teacher was the first to break the silence, "the key change before the chorus is very special."

Ouyang Guang nodded, his voice still a little unstable because of the singing just now: "I want to express the song's persistent and broken emotions that are hard to erase like a tattoo even if it's painful."

Teacher Han Sung-soo spoke and wrote something on the evaluation form: "The vocal range is well controlled, especially the jump in the transition, which is handled very cleanly. The emotional expression is also just right and very contagious."

Another teacher commented: "Ouyangguang, your singing is excellent. The voice control and emotional expression are very good, and it can be seen that you put a lot of effort into it." After hearing this, Ouyangguang bowed to the judges again to express his gratitude.

After the vocals, it was time for the rap review. Ouyang Guang chose the song "Remember The Name" which has a strong sense of rhythm.

He stood in front of the microphone, adjusted his breathing, and then began his performance. His pronunciation was clear and powerful, and his rhythm was precise, especially in the fast part, which made the judges nod their heads frequently.

"The flow is very stable," the rap teacher commented, "especially the speed change in the first section, which is very personal."

The last part was the dance assessment, and Ouyang Guang also gave his all.

As the music started, he quickly got into the mood, and every movement was clean and powerful.

His dance moves were in perfect harmony with the rhythm of the music and his expression was very devoted, showing the charm of dance to the fullest.

Especially the continuous breaking moves, he completed them smoothly, and the cushioning when landing was clean and beautiful.

When the last note fell, he struck a handsome ending pose and the audience burst into warm applause again.

"Ouyangguang," the dance teacher commented after his performance, "You have made great progress in body control, especially in the movement of core strength."

"The movements are very smooth and expressive, and he stands out in Class B."

After the assessment, the teachers gathered together to discuss. One teacher said: "Ouyangguang's performance this month is still very impressive. Both vocal music and dance have been further improved."

Another teacher nodded in agreement: "Yes, his confidence and composure on stage, as well as his understanding and interpretation of the work, are more mature than before."

After the evaluation, Zhang Yixing and others were already waiting outside. When they saw Ouyang Guang come out, they immediately surrounded him. "Xiaoguang, how is it?" Zhang Yixing asked eagerly, his eyes full of concern and expectation.

"I performed well, I am quite satisfied with myself." Ouyang Guang said with a smile, his face filled with joy, "I hope I can get some results."

"Of course there will be no problem! We knew you could do it!" Kim Seung-hyun patted his back excitedly and said loudly.

When the results were announced, Ouyang Guang looked at the report card and smiled happily, showing his fangs: "Vocal group, Ouyang Guang! Promoted to Class A!"

"Dance group, Ouyang Guang! Third in Class B!"

"Rap group, Ouyang Guang! Promoted to Class B!"

"That's great! We all got good scores in the month-end assessment this time, we must celebrate tonight!" Park Chanyeol suggested, "Let's go to the restaurant with special food last time and have a meal!"

"Oh!" Everyone responded with happy smiles on their faces.

In the evening, everyone came to the restaurant and sat around a large table, which was filled with a variety of delicacies, including delicious seafood, exquisite cuisine, and sweet desserts.

Everyone enjoyed the food and chatted happily. Kim Seung-hyun kept telling jokes, making everyone laugh. Oh Eun-hoon and Kim Jong-in teased each other, creating a very harmonious atmosphere.
