Su Jin laughed twice. "I won't go in, doctor. What would I do there... I wouldn't be of any help anyway."
The doctor smiled, but his tone left no room for refusal: "Family members, please come in."
Seeing that she couldn't avoid it, Su Jin gritted her teeth and stepped inside.
The doctor said to Gu Xingze, "Please excuse me for a moment, I have a question for your wife."
Gu Xingze winked at Su Jin, "What's wrong with my wife?"
Although I didn't understand, I still left my seat and closed the door behind me.
In the enclosed space, only Su Jin and the psychologist remained.
Su Jin spoke first, "Doctor, is there anything you want to ask me?"
After settling her in, the doctor sat down in his own seat. "During my conversation with Mr. Gu, I noticed that you seem to be in a more serious condition."
The doctor said this with a calm expression.
Su Jin, however, was different. She frowned and questioned her, "What do you mean?"
Su Jin felt like a living person who was suddenly told that they were actually dead.
The doctor seemed to have expected this, saying, "This is actually quite common. Usually, the person who comes to see the doctor is the one with the mildest illness in the family."
Su Jin stood up to leave. "Doctor, I think your diagnosis may be wrong. I think I'm fine, and the 'me' you heard from him is not the real me at all. Please don't use that as the basis for your diagnosis."
The doctor's tone remained as calm as ever, "Ms. Su, what is the real you?"
Su Jin's expression went blank, but she returned to normal in less than three seconds.
She pointed to herself, "The person standing here now is the real me, Doctor. I think you shouldn't try to understand a stranger from anyone else's words; those are all illusions constructed from words."
The doctor smiled and said, "If you don't mind, may I call you by your name?"
Please make yourself at home.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and said gently, "Su Jin, can I understand the real you? Not from others, but from your own words."
Su Jin hesitated for only two seconds this time, "No, I don't want to do that."
She wasn't seventeen or eighteen anymore; at twenty-four, Su Jin didn't want to trust anyone anymore.
If such a doctor appeared when she was a teenager, she might really cry and hug her, telling her about her pain and her resentment.
The doctor nodded and changed the subject, "Let's talk about your husband then, he's been talking about you the whole time."
Su Jin sat down again. "So what's wrong with him? Is he really sick?"
"Hmm... he's behaving like someone with separation anxiety, which usually only occurs in childhood."
The doctor smiled and said, "But he kept talking about you. I asked him to talk about himself, but he always ended up talking about you."
Su Jin placed her hands on her legs, her two thumbs overlapping each other repeatedly.
"So...what's wrong with him?"
The doctor leaned forward and said, “He told me that he couldn’t find the feeling of love for him in you, and I think that’s related to your childhood experiences and family.”
The doctor then steered the conversation towards Su Jin, and she frowned at her, asking, "What are you trying to say?"
The doctor didn't want to upset her, so he carefully chose his words.
"I want to say, Su Jin, haven't you felt love in a long time? Not from others, but from yourself."
Su Jin closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and asked a question that had puzzled her for a long time.
What's the use of love?
Why do I have to feel love?
The doctor shook his head. "It's not just about love. It's wrong that you don't want to feel any emotions. Humans naturally have feelings..."
Su Jin stood up angrily, the chair creaking loudly. "What do you know? Only by abandoning all feelings can no one hurt me!"
The air fell silent because of her anger.
"You've finally spoken your mind." The doctor was not surprised at all.
Su Jin laughed. "Why are people like you always like this? So self-righteous, telling me to feel love, to share love. Where is the love in that?"
She can now truly empathize with the villain's feelings. The hero says: There are still many wonderful things in this world waiting for you. Can't you feel love? Think about your parents, friends, and lover.
Villain: ?
Su Jin felt that way, so angry she laughed.
"If I could truly feel all emotions, I would have died long ago. How could I still be here talking to you about love?"
Su Jin looked directly into her eyes. "You look older than me, but how can you be so naive?"
“Su Jin, you have to live a normal life…”
She didn't want to waste any more time there, so she said goodbye to the doctor in front of her, "Goodbye. As for my husband's condition, you don't need to tell me anymore. Talk to him about it."
She realized that if he was sick, he should see a doctor; she wasn't a doctor herself.
She opened the door and bumped right into Gu Xingze, who had been lingering outside.
Gu Xingze thought she was feeling unwell, so he patted her back and comforted her, "It's okay, it's okay, don't be afraid, wife. I'm fine. The doctor said I just have a bit of neurasthenia, don't worry."
Although he really wanted Su Jin to love him more, he didn't want to hurt her in this way.
"Honey, don't be afraid. Let's go home, okay?"
Su Jin was held tightly in his arms, not even having a chance to speak. She felt so tired.
No need to explain further; this kind of well-intentioned misunderstanding is fine too.
"Xiao Jin? What did the doctor say?"
She broke free from Gu Xingze's embrace.
"Brother, you haven't left yet?"
Xie Yunhuai looked unwell. "Yes, I was worried about you."
The phone rang, and everyone looked at their phones simultaneously.
It was Xie Yunhuai calling. A second before he answered, Su Jin saw the word "Mother" on the contact list.
Xie Lan's indifferent voice came in, "They said you suddenly left the meeting? What did you go to do?"
Xie Yunhuai felt that she was just testing whether he was telling the truth. After all, if he wanted to know something, he could just ask his assistant.
"Come to the hospital."
There was a brief silence on Xie Lan's end.
"Is he with Su Jin?"
This time, without waiting for Xie Yunhuai's reply, she continued, "I want to see her. Please tell her."
A hint of panic finally appeared on Xie Yunhuai's deathly expressionless face. He glanced hastily at Su Jin, then pleaded in a low voice with the people on the other side, "Mom, don't hurt her."
Xie Lan teased, "My good son, I would never treat her like that."
I hung up the phone.
Gu Xingze was rubbing Su Jin's hands, muttering as he did so, "It's still summer, why are your hands so cold?"
Su Jin kept her eyes fixed on Xie Yunhuai's direction.
Seeing him walk towards her step by step, Su Jin asked in a low voice, "Brother, she won't do anything to you, will she?"
If she were to suffer an undeserved misfortune because of his visit, Su Jin's conscience would truly not allow it...
Can anyone tell her where to remove conscience?
Xie Yunhuai shook his head and forced a smile at her, "She said she wants to see you, tomorrow."
In fact, he had never been subjected to family discipline since he came of age. It was only because Xie Lan was angry at his stupidity that he resorted to family discipline again.
Su Jin agreed, "It's been a long time since I've seen Auntie."
