Su Jin drove her Audi, with stacks of money in the back seat.
Several police cars disguised as taxis followed her car at a distance.
The phone rang, and she reached out one hand to answer it.
Is that a police car behind you?
Su Jin steadied herself. "What are you saying? I don't understand."
The kidnapper said impatiently, "Stop pretending, shake off the car behind you, or I'll kill the hostage right now."
"...October really went all out against me."
Su Jin stepped on the gas, and the car sped through the traffic. She hadn't driven so fast in a long time, and she felt her blood boiling.
After passing several traffic lights and making many turns, we arrived at the designated location.
Su Jin got out of the car, carrying a bag of money, and went into the abandoned factory.
Opening the dilapidated door, Su Jin suspected that this place didn't even need a bomb; a few kicks would have been enough to make it collapse.
Three masked thugs stood in front of her, along with Gu Xingze and Shen Yanxiu behind her.
When Gu Xingze saw her, his eyes immediately welled up with tears. "Jinjin, you really came..."
She still had her own interests at heart, and was willing to risk her life to save him.
One of the kidnappers pressed a gun to his temple and yelled, "Shut up!"
Su Jin took a step back. "You really have guns? Where did they come from?"
The kidnapper chuckled.
"This gun is... no, why should I tell you? You're not a police officer."
“Ah Jin…” Shen Yanxiu said weakly, “Don’t worry about me, I’m not worth it.”
Another kidnapper pressed a gun against the back of his head, saying, "Tsk, you think we don't exist? Do you think this is some kind of romantic drama?"
Su Jin threw down the bag of money. "There's 2 million in cash in here. The rest of the money is in my car. I'll take it, and you can let them go."
The man who looked like their boss flashed a standard villainous smile.
"Don't be so naive, there's something I forgot to mention."
The eldest brother walked behind Gu Xingze and Shen Yanxiu.
"You can only take one of them with you. The other one will be our hostage."
Su Jin closed her eyes, unable to bear it any longer.
"...You guys are the ones who are really acting in an idol drama."
As the kidnapper made this demand, the recording device hidden under Su Jin's long hair crackled.
That was a backup plan that the police had prepared for her.
No wonder they sent Su Jin alone, no wonder they kidnapped her but didn't contact her family.
It turns out there was a whole drama waiting for her.
When Gu's mother heard the news, the sky seemed to fall on her head.
"No! No way! He has to be chosen..."
She also knew that the chances of her son being selected were extremely slim.
After all, Su Jin hated their family so much.
The kidnapper didn't wait. He brandished the gun in his hand. "So, Miss Su, what's your decision?"
He put one hand on Gu Xingze and the other on Shen Yanxiu.

Despite being attacked for being older, Shen Yanxiu was not angry at all and smiled, "I'm only two years older than you."
Gu Xingze's chest heaved. "Haven't you heard of a generation gap that's three years apart? You're so much older than her, you probably can't understand what she's saying, right?"
This really did strike Shen Yanxiu.
He was only half-understanding what Su Jin was saying.
Shen Yanxiu remained silent, while Gu Xingze, like a victorious rooster, raised his chin high.
"Ridiculous, someone like him wants to be her lover?"
The three kidnappers listened with great interest.
But Su Jin couldn't stand it at all. "Go, you three, gag those two."
"ah?"
Although the three kidnappers didn't understand, they still obediently shut them up.
The eldest brother still retained some rationality: "Hurry up and choose, or I'll shoot them both!"
The police officer told her through her earpiece to calm the kidnapper down, and that they would arrive soon.
Su Jin took a deep breath. "I choose... Shen Yanxiu."
Gu Xingze's tears fell like starlight, his arrogance from before gone.
It's alright, Su Jin is just too kind-hearted; she can't bear to see Shen Yanxiu tied up.
The kidnapper laughed loudly, "As expected, a wife can't compare to a lover."
As they spoke, they began to untie the ropes binding Shen Yanxiu.

Su Jin spoke up to stop her.
The kidnapper looked at her, puzzled.
"You release whoever I tell you to release? You're so obedient, are you hired by me?"
The kidnapper was completely baffled, not understanding what she meant by that.
Su Jin crossed her arms and sneered, "If I were you, I would kill whoever they say they want to release, and make them lose the person they love most."
Shen Yanxiu was stunned. So, he was being used as a shield...
He thought Su Jin cared about him more.
The kidnappers were momentarily confused about Su Jin's purpose. Did she want them to release the hostage, or did she not want them to release the hostage?
"Boss, what do we do?"
“I think she makes a good point. Why didn’t we think of that at the beginning? She’ll just kill whoever she chooses.”
"Idiot! Can you even kill someone?"
As they were discussing, Su Jin gave Gu Xingze a meaningful look.
I hope he understands what I mean.
The kidnappers couldn't reach an agreement after discussing it for a while, so they returned to their original positions. "Ahem, so who do you really want to choose? We're still true to our word; we'll release whoever you choose."
