The figure visibly stiffened for a moment.
Su Jin bent down and looked down at his face hidden under his hat.
"It really is you! Why didn't you say hello?"
Shen Yanxiu kept shrinking his body, as if trying to hide himself, but there was nowhere to hide.
Su Jin waved to him, gesturing for him to sit at the same table with her.
Shen Yanxiu hesitated for a moment, then got up and followed her with unsteady steps.
Sitting face-to-face at a table, Su Jin asked him curiously, "It feels like I haven't seen you in ages. What brings you here all of a sudden?"
Shen Yanxiu adjusted his hat. "I'm just passing by, having a meal."
His voice sounded so soft amidst the noisy chatter of the restaurant.
Su Jin could barely hear it.
"Oh, how have you been lately?"
Shen Yanxiu touched his arm through his clothes with his fingers, his eyes fixed on the two bowls of noodles.
"fine."
Su Jin noticed him looking at his own noodles and assumed he was too hungry because his food hadn't been served yet, so she placed one of the bowls in front of him.
"You eat, it's on me."
Shen Yanxiu was flattered and waved his hand, tugging at his sleeve, "No need, no need, your boyfriend will be here soon, I'll make him misunderstand."
Su Jin exclaimed, "I ate those two bowls myself."
She picked up one of the bowls, examined the still steaming noodles, and put them in her mouth.
Shen Yanxiu's eyes were steaming from the smell of the bowl of noodles in front of him.
"...I'm sorry, I don't know."
"It's okay, take off your hat and eat. Even if someone takes pictures of us, it's nothing. After all, we're still seen as a couple by others."
