"Didn't you ask me why I support her entering the entertainment industry?"
Xie Yunhuai straightened his collar and said calmly, "Because I respect her choice, I will always be her support."
Gu Xingze laughed in anger, "You call yourself a backer? What gives you the right to say that?"
Xie Yunhuai wanted to laugh, but the pain from the wound on his lip made him hold back, and his voice remained flat.
"Based on my understanding of her, do you know who she cares about most?"
Seeing his blank expression, Xie Yunhuai understood.
"You really don't know anything. She was her deceased maternal grandmother. I was the one who stayed by Xiaojin's side until her death. I witnessed every single one of her joys and sorrows. What about you?"
Gu Xingze had never participated in or possessed that past, and he was dying of jealousy, but there was nothing he could do about it.
I can only blame myself for meeting her too late.
Xie Yunhuai made no attempt to hide the mockery in his eyes, "You know nothing and yet you're spouting nonsense. Do you really like her?"
In Xie Yunhuai's eyes, no one was good enough for Su Jin, not even himself.
By entertainment industry standards, he should be Su Jin's die-hard fan, and a toxic one at that.
Gu Xingze was speechless, his defense weak and ineffective.
"I just don't want her to go to that kind of place."
Xie Yunhuai chuckled softly, “The entertainment industry is nothing more than capital operation, and I am the capital.”
His gaze fell on Gu Xingze as he sized him up. "As far as I know, the Gu family has no involvement in the entertainment industry. It's like being in a completely different world. You can't help her, but I can."
...
Gu Xingze didn't even know how he got back; he only remembered rushing towards Su Jin as soon as he saw her.
"Wife, do you love me?"
Su Jin's back finally broke after a long day of work.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Gu Xingze's eyes welled up with tears. "If I and your brother fell into the water, who would you save?"
Su Jin suppressed the urge to roll her eyes.
"What's gone?"
The next day.
Because she was going to a talent agency interview, Su Jin had arranged to meet Xie Yunhuai in advance and got into his car.
Gu Xingze stood behind Su Jin, staring at him with a venomous look.
"Brother, let's go."
Su Jin tilted her head in confusion, feeling a chill on her bottom, as if something was staring at her.
Su Jin turned her head and immediately saw Xie Yunhuai's broken lip. She asked in surprise, "Brother, what happened to your face? Did you get hit?"
Xie Yunhuai lowered his head, feigning sadness, and said, "It's nothing."
"What do you mean 'nothing'? Your face is ruined!"
Xie Yunhuai pursed her lips tightly, "Maybe your husband is too angry. Don't blame him, it's not his fault."
Su Jin slammed her hand on the table in anger, but forgot that she was in the car and bumped her head. She cried out in pain, clutching her head, and sat back down.
"Why did he hit you?"
Xie Yunhuai said sarcastically, "It's all my fault. I took it upon myself to arrange for you to join the entertainment company, which is why your husband was unhappy and hit me."
As expected, Su Jin was slightly angry. "Why is he unhappy? I knew he was just acting in front of me."
Xie Yunhuai touched his lips, hissed, and sounded utterly broken.
"Brother, don't worry, I'll have him come and apologize to you. How can someone hit someone for no reason?"
Xie Yunhuai gave a soft "hmm," and said, "Don't be angry with him. It's nothing for me to let him hit me once. I don't want to cause discord between you and your husband because of me."
"What are you saying? When have we ever had any feelings for each other?"
They picked up Lin Shi midway, and as soon as she got in the car, she pulled Su Jin along.
"Slap me twice, let me see if I'm still dreaming!"
"OK".
Upon hearing this, Su Jin obediently swung her arm in a wide arc.
Lin Shi immediately chickened out, "Stop, stop, stop, do you really want to kill me?"
Xie Yunhuai watched her make a fuss with a smile.
Lin Shi quietly asked her, "What happened to his face? Who hit him?"
"My husband hit me."
Lin Shi took a step back, staring at Su Jin in disbelief. Judging from her expression, she must have been imagining a whole drama unfolding in her mind.
Su Jin calmly explained, "It's because he was unhappy that I went out to find a job and beat up my brother. Just like his mother, he thinks that I'm embarrassing him by going into the entertainment industry. He doesn't even realize that not many people know that we're married."
Although they were not secretly married, very few people knew Su Jin's identity. She and Gu Xingze were not from the same social class. Even if someone knew that President Gu had a wife, they could not find out who she was. Why?
Since Su Jin has no background whatsoever, what's the point of investigating her?
Lin Shi leaned closer to her, squinted, and asked, "Do you really think your husband hit him because of this?"
Su Jin frowned, thought for a moment, and said, "What else can we do?"
"You're incredibly insensitive."
Su Jin blinked. "Who invented the term 'dullness'? It sounds much better than 'lacking in common sense'."
They were supposed to be going for an interview, but it was really just a formality. With Xie Yunhuai around, they couldn't possibly fail.
The interviewers pulled out Su Jin's graduation projects from her year and praised them highly. They had assumed that those who got in through connections were not capable, but now it seems that she is an exception.
One of the interviewers asked, "Why didn't you come after graduation? Your qualifications are quite good; you could be considered excellent. You would have had a better chance if you were younger."
Su Jin said with a straight face, "I didn't attend any extracurricular classes when I was a child, and I have no interest in working when I grow up."
"......"
"Then why come now? What has changed you?"
Su Jin looked up and saw Lin Shi outside the glass door shaking her head frantically, her hands clasped together, begging herself to be normal.
"Because the entertainment industry has what I want."
That's true.
...
After the interview, Su Jin felt it was too easy; all the things she had prepared were useless.
For example, talent shows.
She looked down at her phone, fiddling with her Weibo account. She thought for a long time in the nickname field before typing:
Take this blow from my big butt!
Su Jin laughed for two hours before she was willing to change her name to this one.
"Jinjin, do you think I'll have a scandal right after entering the entertainment industry? Or the kind of scandal where no one gets hurt?"
Lin Shi leaned against her like a little bird.
"You have no idea how many people I've cursed in the past—my boss, my colleagues. I always did it secretly, but what if someone finds out?"
Su Jin put down her phone and said seriously, "Baby, just be yourself and don't pay attention to what other people are saying. If they insult you, just treat them like they're insulting a dog!"
