Su's mother simply said "crazy woman" and ran away.
Lin Shi crawled out from the corner, still shaken, clutching a knife. "I wanted to kill that old madwoman, thank goodness she ran away fast."
Su Jin pouted, "You absolutely mustn't do anything illegal or disorderly. Lock the door after I leave."
"You too, be careful."
Su Jin said goodbye to her; the night air was dry and comfortable.
She opened the door to the villa and froze upon seeing the scene inside.
Gu Xingze came out of the kitchen with a smile on his face. "You're back. Dinner is ready."
He served dishes with exceptional skill, his fingers reaching behind his back to try and untie his apron, but he couldn't manage it after a long time.
She could only look at Su Jin with a wronged expression, "Could you... help me untie this? I can't untie it."
Su Jin was too lazy to expose him, so she reached out and tugged at it, causing the apron to slip off.
Gu Xingze wasn't wearing anything underneath, and his erections trembled before her eyes.
Gu Xingze blushed and stammered, "Sit down and eat. You must be hungry."
Su Jin felt something was strange.
It's as if everything was meticulously planned.
She sat down at the dining table and picked up her bowl and chopsticks to eat.
After only a few bites, she couldn't help but put down her chopsticks and ask, "Is something the matter? Why are you staring at me?"
Gu Xingze, like a child who had done something wrong, withdrew his gaze from her.
"I just wanted to ask... what did you do today? Honey, I'm just asking, it's okay if you don't want to tell me."
Su Jinming hadn't said a single unnecessary word, yet his behavior made it seem as if Su Jinming had bullied him.
"Take Lin Shi home."
Su Jin picked up her chopsticks again and started eating.
Gu Xingze noticed a thin line of blood on her palm.
"What happened? Are you injured?"
His pupils contracted sharply, and he stood up, took her hand, and turned it open.
Sure enough, there was a tiny scratch on it.
It was almost healed by the time I found out.
Su Jin thought back for a moment and realized that it must have been something that accidentally scratched her hair when she was slapped.
Gu Xingze pursed his lips fiercely, suppressing his tears, and went to get the first-aid kit.
He knelt down in front of Su Jin and carefully treated her minor scratch.
Su Jin felt he was being overly meticulous; the wound, which would heal soon, didn't need such careful treatment.
Gu Xingze raised his moist eyes.
"Honey, can you tell me what happened?"
Su Jin propped her head up with her palm and tilted her head to look at him. She actually wanted to ask, "Is this important?"
Why does he always try to interfere in his own affairs?
Wouldn't it be better to just leave each other alone like before?
But the exit remained uneventful. "I ran into my mom and slapped her a few times."
Gu Xingze's fingertips trembled as he held her hand, and he raised his hand to rub his sore nose.
"She said some very hurtful things again, didn't she? I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. Do you have any other injuries?"
Su Jin withdrew her hand, focused her gaze, and asked him, "What can you do even if you're here?"
Gu Xingze remained kneeling on one knee, his eyes fixed on Su Jin's face, filled with remorse.
Suddenly, she asked a question she didn't understand: "She's here to ask you for money, right? Because I didn't send them any money, she's bothering you."
Su Jin frowned, a sense of unease rising in her heart, and slowly asked.
"Have you given them money?"
Gu Xingze nodded. After the marriage, the Su family kept asking him for money, and he always gave it to them, after all, they were Su Jin's family.
But after learning that they were not treating Su Jin well, they refused to send the money.
Su Jin sprang up like a firecracker.
Pointing at Gu Xingze's nose, she said, "I wish I could trample them into a cesspool! And you actually gave them money?"
She was so angry she didn't know what to say to him.
"Isn't it said that loving someone is like growing flowers? Why did you water me with paraquat!"
Gu Xingze was so anxious that he immediately knelt on both knees, practically swearing to the heavens, "Wife, I haven't given them any more money since then, really! I didn't know before..."
Su Jin was so angry she felt like she was about to explode. She didn't even want to eat, so she pushed Gu Xingze away and went straight upstairs.
Gu Xingze was left all alone, facing the meal he had carefully prepared.
She barely ate anything; the food in front of her was practically untouched.
Gu Xingze couldn't help but feel disappointed, but then he remembered that his wife was still hungry, and he started to blame himself.
I've made her angry again. I'm so useless.
After clearing the food from the plates, I carried them upstairs and gently knocked on the door.
"Jinjin, you can be angry, but you can't skip meals."
There was no response.
Su Jin was wearing headphones and watching cute pet videos to soothe her soul.
The young woman in the video is holding a puppy in her arms and introducing it to the camera.
"A tiny, beige pine tree, with tiny ears, a pink nose, and a pink tongue."
The puppy was very active, moving around like a little flea.
The young woman picked it up by the scruff of its neck. "Its fur is very fluffy, and it's quite brave to lift it up."
The camera finally focused on the puppy, its innocent, dark eyes gazing at the camera, even giving it a flirty wink.
Su Jin's heart softened at the sight, and she wanted to pinch its cheeks.
The comments below were also very enthusiastic.
Sister, you must keep selling! I'll come buy from you after I graduate!
I'll sell everything I own to buy one.
[Boss, do you have any really brave little dogs here?]
[I need someone with absolutely incredible courage.]
Gu Xingze appeared suddenly behind her like a ghost. "Wife, would you like something to eat?"
Su Jin yanked off her headphones. "Are you crazy?! You scared me to death!"
Gu Xingze even complained, "I knocked on the door several times, but you didn't say anything. I thought something had happened, so I wanted to come in and check on you."
His gaze shifted to her lit phone screen, and he asked casually, "Honey, do you want a puppy?"
Su Jin put her earphones back in. "Yes, I want a puppy that's incredibly brave."
Gu Xingze lowered his eyes, making a futile protest, "Can we please not..."
Su Jin glanced at him. "It's my money, what's it to you?"
She had already decided to buy a small pine tree, then invite Lin Shi over, and move in once the house was renovated.
Su Jin knew that one day she would get her way.
Gu Xingze went along with her suggestion, "I have a friend who sells pets. I'll ask him to buy you one, okay?"
Su Jin thought about it and agreed. She didn't know any professionals, and it wouldn't be good if the puppy she bought was weak and sickly.
After making up her mind, she started to shoo people away.
"I'm going to sleep now. I have to go back to record a show tomorrow afternoon. You can go now."
Gu Xingze nodded hurriedly, "I'll leave right away. Remember to eat, or you'll be hungry."
Reaching the door, he glanced at Su Jin a few times with lingering reluctance, and said, "Goodnight."
