Chapter 2 Beating the Mother-in-Law

As for why Gu Xingze pretended to be aloof, the reason goes back to four years ago.

That year, Gu Xingze was twenty-four years old. He came to his friend's college to find him, but got lost because he was unfamiliar with the area.

After making several turns, he burst into Su Jin's practice room, and Su Jin entered his heart.

She wore ethnic costume, and every leg lift and arm swing was a perfect blend of strength and grace. Her dance skirt flowed and billowed with her movements, and her sweat shimmered like gold in the sunlight.

The ribbons on the fan in her hand transformed into a sharp, decisive gust of wind.

Su Jin's mentor at the time described her as: "That brat, she's got a lot of stubbornness."

Gu Xingze held his breath slightly, his eyes fixed on the spot, and didn't even notice his friend had arrived.

"Hey, what are you doing, peeking like a pervert?"

Gu Xingze was startled, looked up and laughed, "This door really does look like a door."

The friend rolled his eyes and looked into the room. "This is my student. I'm warning you, don't get any ideas."

Am I that kind of person?

The door suddenly opened, and Su Jin's fair face was covered in beads of sweat. "Teacher, is there something you need?"

Su Jin's mental state was not so worrying at the time; at least she looked like a normal person.

She glanced at the man next to the teacher, then looked away and said goodbye to the teacher.

Her first impression of this man was that he was someone with a strong sense of illicit activity.

The next time they met, this man proposed to her.

"Perhaps, would you be willing to marry me?"

After he made his request, a hint of joy flashed in Su Jin's eyes. It was this small gesture that made Gu Xingze mistakenly think that she liked his aloof demeanor.

In fact, Su Jin had just bound herself to the system and hadn't even started any tasks when this unexpected windfall came her way. Who wouldn't be overjoyed?

Unexpectedly, this marked the beginning of three years of her life as a good-for-nothing. Gu Xingze's mother looked down on her, but she couldn't do anything to her son.

So he could only vent his anger on Su Jin, and every time he saw Su Jin, he would make things difficult for her.

"You are blessed to marry into the Gu family. You must serve Xingze well and try to give the Gu family a son. Pour me some tea."

Old Madam Gu had an arrogant attitude. She disliked her daughter-in-law from a humble background. She was a dancer who couldn't help her son at all and might even use her son's money to support her own family.

Su Jin bowed and poured her tea. On the surface, she was a gentle and virtuous daughter-in-law, but inwardly she was grinding her teeth to powder.

"What famous college did you graduate from? You just dance for people's amusement, right? But you've learned a lot of skills, so it's not a waste that you went to so much trouble to marry into our family."

Old Madam Gu glanced at her sideways and found that she showed no signs of being angry at all, still smiling.

They're quite patient; their skill is truly profound.

She snorted coldly and turned to leave.

...

She lived like a servant for three years. No, at least servants get paid, but she didn't.

Even screenwriters couldn't write a story as tragic as hers.

"No money, no love, no life at all, I'm truly invincible."

Lin Shi remained silent for a long time, "The words may be rough, but the reasoning is sound, but your words are a bit too rough."

Su Jin leaned back in her chair at the law firm, feeling utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally, at the thought that all her efforts over the past three years had gone to waste.

"Shishi, I'm so tired. I feel like I finally got married, only to find out that my husband is a bottom on the side."

Lin Shi chirped along with her, "Your husband has this kind of thing going on? Do you know what people outside call him? The prince of Beijing's elite circles!"

Lin Shi laughed so hard she almost fell over. "A prince of the Beijing elite circle? I'd rather eat Shaanxi roujiamo!"

Su Jin gestured for her to shush, and the lawyer in front of her pushed up his glasses. "Ms. Su, in my opinion, if Mr. Gu insists on not getting a divorce, it will be very difficult to get one, because so far, there is no conclusive evidence that your relationship has broken down."

Su Jin raised an eyebrow. "Isn't it conclusive evidence that his relationship has broken down?"

Lin Shi and her lawyer were both taken aback.

"Do you have any evidence? Such as photos, videos, or transaction records?"

How could that be? Su Jin accidentally bumped into Gu Xingze standing with another woman on the street, and she wanted to stay eight hundred meters away, making it seem like she was the one having an affair.

After leaving the law firm, Lin Shi asked Su Jin, "What will you do if he really insists on not getting a divorce?"

Su Jin planned to go home first to pack her things, since Gu Xingze probably wouldn't be back at this time.

Upon opening the villa's front door, an unexpected person was sitting on the sofa in the center of the living room.

It was Madam Gu.

Her gaze swept over Su Jin as if she were looking at a fly. "Why are you only coming back now? Did you let Xingze come back hungry? You're always at home doing nothing and causing trouble all the time."

Su Jin's temple twitched. There was a nanny, but she was made to do these exhausting things, and what's worse, she wasn't paid!

Gu's mother is really carefree; isn't she afraid that in a fit of anger, she might poison them all with rat poison?

Although I didn't make any money, it wasn't a complete waste of time; at least I was tired.

While Old Madam Gu continued her incessant chatter, Su Jin gave Lin Shi a wink.

Lin Shi received the message. After so many years together, Lin Shi knew exactly what kind of fart Su Jin was going to fart as soon as she bent over.

Lin Shi walked over to her assistant, beaming as she chatted with him.

She subtly dismissed her assistant, and Su Jin blocked Old Madam Gu's view.

"I heard from Xingze that you're going to divorce him? Ha, you're just a secondhand item who has nothing to offer. Who will want you after the divorce?"

In recent years, Madam Gu has put on a good show, and Gu Xingze has always thought that the relationship between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is harmonious.
