"Really?"
Su Jin reached out and touched his forehead briefly before pulling away.
"Hmm, no fever, but it looks pretty serious. Should we go to the hospital?"
She sincerely advised that his death would not do her any good.
Gu Xingze remained silent, stunned. Su Jin merely touched him lightly, as if she had taken his soul away.
"I……"
He wanted to say he was fine, but the words that came out of his mouth changed direction: "Um, I feel a little unwell, dizzy."
It wasn't just a little bit; he was seeing flashing black shadows in front of him. If it weren't for the wall supporting him, he would have collapsed long ago.
Su Jin glanced at the embarrassment on his face, which didn't seem fake. "Then... shall I take you to the hospital? I drove here."
Gu Xingze forced a smile. "Is that alright?"
Is it still okay for him to be alone with her in a room now?
She's still too kind.
Su Jin pointed in a direction, "The car is parked over there, I'll take you to the hospital."
Gu Xingze took a step towards that spot, during which Su Jin occasionally looked back and asked, "Are you really just suffering from a cold? You seem unsteady on your feet."
"I'm sorry, I walked too slowly."
What did he apologize for?
Su Jin didn't understand; she seemed to never be able to comprehend Gu Xingze's behavior.
Just like this divorce, it was completely unexpected for her.
Once in the car, Gu Xingze seemed to relax; or perhaps it was more accurate to say he had been tense the whole time.
He leaned back in the passenger seat without saying a word, his eyes closed and his brows slightly furrowed.
After the car stopped, Gu Xingze spoke up, "Can I go check on the bread later?"
Su Jin glanced at his pale, almost bloodless lips. "You should go to the hospital to get checked out first."
She had no intention of getting out of the car; taking him to the hospital was already a matter of conscience, and she felt she had no obligation to accompany her ex-husband to the doctor.
Gu Xingze unbuckled his seatbelt. The car was quiet. He asked her, "Will you date in the future?"
Su Jin adjusted her hair in front of the rearview mirror and replied casually, "Who can say what will happen in the future?"
She strongly agreed with what Shen Yanxiu had told her: "Feelings are something you can't control."
Gu Xingze was silent for a moment, then said, "Okay, thank you for bringing me here."
He opened the car door and got out, then stood there watching Su Jin's car drive away until it disappeared from sight.
...
Su Jin returned to that home, where she had lived for three years. It would be a lie to say she had no feelings for it, but she was only somewhat melancholy.
I called a moving company to take away the sofa and dining table I had my eye on; all that was left were my clothes and personal belongings.
After packing everything into the suitcase and finishing, I went downstairs and saw the refrigerator before remembering something.
Su Jin opened the refrigerator door and saw several dumplings neatly arranged on several lids.
She touched it very slightly, and the feeling was strange, like glass fiber piercing the skin. It wasn't very painful, but it was uncomfortably itchy.
She made a phone call to Lin Shi.
A dozen minutes later, Lin Shi arrived. She looked around the room and said, "It's so empty! You moved everything out?"
Su Jin nodded, "They've basically taken everything they wanted."
"No wonder the CEOs in those CEO romance novels feel their houses are empty after the female lead leaves. Of course they feel empty if she takes everything away."
Su Jin got up and opened the refrigerator. "Do you want some? The CEO made these dumplings."
Lin Shi looked at it with curiosity, "What? What kind of filling is it? I haven't had it in a long time, I'm really craving it."
Su Jin shrugged. "I don't know. I'm not planning on eating it. You can have it."
For a moment, she had the thought of throwing it away, but her conscience wouldn't allow it.
It's all someone else's good intention, and it should be used to its fullest potential.
Lin Shi looked at her and said, "That's true. The dumplings my ex-husband made always taste a bit strange, no matter how you look at it."
She raised the corners of her mouth and said, "Then I won't be polite, I'll take it with me."
Su Jin was on the phone with a real estate agent, saying, "Hey, Xiao Wu, I've got everything sorted out here. When would you like to come over and take a look?"
After hearing what was said on the other end, Su Jin responded with "Mmm," and then said, "See you later."
A short while later, a hurried figure opened the door. "Sister Su, I came right away after receiving your call."
She was a woman who looked young, not yet thirty.
Su Jin nodded. "Thank you for your help. See how much this can sell for."
"No problem, sis. This is my first order, I promise I'll do a great job!"
Xiao Wu tapped on her phone, "This can still make a lot of money, sis. Do you think this number will meet your expectations?"
Su Jin glanced at it and nodded. "Well, I have some furniture here that I can't take with me. It should be fine, right?"
"It's okay. People who buy second-hand villas are usually ordinary people or people with a little money. They don't care about this. Even if they don't use it, they can resell it."
After negotiating with the agent, Su Jin took Lin Shi straight to the used car market.
Lin Shi asked her, "What are you doing? Are you selling your house and car?"
“These things are useless to me. I’ll sell this Maybach and buy a car worth around 200,000 yuan.”
For some people, a car worth hundreds of thousands or tens of millions is something to show off or flaunt their status, but for her, it's useless; as long as she can drive it, that's enough.
The money in your hand is the only true measure of success.
...
Knock knock.
Su Jin opened the door.
Gu Xingze stood outside the door, carrying several bags of things. "Here you go."
Su Jin had no intention of accepting it, saying, "I can't accept it."
Gu Xingze lowered his eyes. "It's for Xiaobao."
The bread, breathing heavily, rubbed against his legs, as if asking him why he had taken so long.
Su Jin took the bags from his hands, some of which contained pet supplies and some items for her.
Flowers, skincare products, and some cakes.
When Su Jin saw it, she really wanted to ask him, "Is this also for dogs?"
But it sounds like he's criticizing himself, so I'd better not say hello.
Gu Xingze squatted down to tie the leash to the bread, and when he stood up, his vision went black and he almost fell on Su Jin.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Gu Xingze shook his head indifferently, "I didn't eat much, so I have low blood sugar."
Upon hearing this, Su Jin took out a box of small cakes from the bag.
"Eat something, don't get dizzy."
Gu Xingze waved his hand, "This is for you, I can't eat it."
Su Jin pushed the cake forward, "I don't eat cake much, you can have it. What's wrong with eating it? Did you put something in it?"
She meant to make a joke, but Gu Xingze's face instantly turned extremely ugly.
Gu Xingze snatched the cake from her hand and stuffed it into his mouth in big bites as if to prove something. He didn't care about his appearance, even though cream was stuck to his nose and mouth. He just kept swallowing it, probably without even tasting it.
"I won't do that... I really won't."
Su Jin was stunned. "Don't do that. I didn't mean it that way. I was just joking."
