After Su's mother finished speaking, Su Jin's shoulders trembled, and she suddenly burst into laughter, even laughing until tears streamed down her face.
"Do you still see me as the child I used to be? You were forced to raise me only because of Grandma's old house."
The last veil of pretense has been torn away.
The expression on Su's mother's face was quite interesting; she thought Su Jin was unaware.
Su Jin said, word by word, "She made a will that you must raise me, otherwise her old house will not be given to you."
She picked up the fruit knife from the table, fiddled with it in her hand, and chuckled.
"You've been lying for so long, have you even started deceiving yourself? Now, get out."
Su's mother glared at her with resentment, stood up, put her hands on her hips, and said righteously, "Fine, we're here today because we want you to get Ranran into the entertainment industry and make her a star too. If you do it well for her, we'll never bother you again."
Su Jin laughed in anger, and kicked her mother, making her kneel down again. "Go to hell! You think I'd help her?"
Su Xingran ran up to her, crying, "Sister, don't do this. It's all my fault. Blame me if you must. Mom is the one who gave birth to you. How could you scold her like that?"
She looked at Gu Xingze while crying, and seeing his reluctant expression, Su Xingran became even more excited.
She grabbed Su Jin's hand and pleaded pitifully.
"Sister, please kneel down before me and forgive us."
She said that, but her knees were only half-bent.
That's true. How could someone who was pampered by her whole family grow up be willing to kneel down to a despicable person she's looked down on since childhood?
"Your sister is practically begging you, you worthless good-for-nothing, is your heart made of stone? Why don't you just agree?"
Gu Xingze found the scene absurd and laughable. He thought he was an idiot for thinking that this family treated Su Jin well.
Before he could even ask them to leave, Su Jin interjected, "It's true that it was wrong of me to swear, but even if we take a step back, haven't I been very kind to you?"
Did I stab you with a knife? No, right?
She brandished the fruit knife in her hand and approached Su's mother step by step, scaring her so much that she scrambled back.
"Since you say I'm crazy, you know you shouldn't mess with a madman, otherwise I could stab you to death and not go to jail."
Su Xingran stopped blocking her mother's way and had already retreated to the side to hide.
She turned her gaze to Gu Xingze and called out softly.
"Brother-in-law, please try to persuade my sister."
Su Jin pointed the knife at Su Xingran, who immediately fell silent.
"And you, a beneficiary of the system, why should a victim forgive you? Your shamelessness is just like your mother's."
Su Jin's face was contorted in a ferocious expression, and Su Xingran was so frightened that she cried out, "Brother-in-law, save me!"
Gu Xingze gently embraced Su Jin, slowly comforting her, "Wife, sweet wife, we can't kill people. If you're angry, I'll find someone to beat them half to death, okay?"
Su Xingran and her mother were both stunned. Was he even speaking human language?
Su Xingran lost her balance and tried to fall into Gu Xingze's arms, but he twisted her and she missed, falling to the ground with a thud.
Gu Xingze thought to himself, "What's wrong with this guy? Why does he always throw himself at me? Luckily I dodged in time, or I would have lost my chastity."
Su Xingran winced in pain, but she didn't forget her persona, tilting her tear-streaked face upwards to lodge her accusations.
"Brother-in-law, I... Mom did a lot of wrong things in the past, but I didn't do any of those things!"
Gu Xingze didn't even glance at her, took the knife from Su Jin's hand, and put it aside.
"You don't do it because you're too young and don't have the ability, not because you're so kind."
Su Xingran's face paled. "No, no... Brother-in-law, please help me. It's just a matter of you saying a word for my sister to become a star. Helping me is no trouble at all."
Su Jin watched her performance with great interest and said leisurely, "You are indeed quite suitable to be an actress; your acting skills are quite good."
"Also, it's no use begging him, because he's not the one who's helping me."
Su Jin didn't notice that after she said those words, not only did Su Xingran's face turn ashen, but Gu Xingze standing next to her also looked pale.
Gu Xingze secretly tightened his grip on her hand; no matter what, he would not let go.

Gu Xingze's expression went blank for a moment as he carefully buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling the scent of the shower gel.
Su Jin didn't stop him, her eyes glazed over, lost in thought.
Gu Xingze suddenly spoke, his voice low.
"Jin Jin, I'm sorry."
I was so sorry, I had no idea your life was so difficult.

"Is this what they call bringing your own investment to the production team?"
Lin Shi covered her mouth as she spoke to Su Jin.
The staff member who brought her the microphone pretended not to hear anything.
The show started filming today. The first episode is a pilot episode, and it will be filmed indoors for now. The director is letting the guests get familiar with the show first.
Su Jin shushed her and pulled her into the house in a hurry.
As the guests entered one after another, Su Jin didn't recognize any of them, but Lin Shi watched with great interest, quietly explaining things to Su Jin.
"Wow, that girl in jeans is Luo Feifei, a rising star born in the mid-90s. Her new drama with Shen Yanxiu just finished airing a few days ago. It seems she tried to create a CP (couple pairing) with him but failed."
