The phone rang, interrupting their conversation. Gu Xingze answered it.
Assistant Li: "Boss, which floor are you on? I've set up Madam's phone."
Su Jin took the phone. "Thank you. You can go up to the third floor."
Assistant Li: "Yes, madam."
Hang up the phone.
Gu Xingze composed himself and straightened his disheveled clothes, then gently hugged Su Jin.
"Let's live a good life together, okay? I'll change those bad habits."
Su Jin shook her head, saying nothing, yet it seemed as if she had said everything.
After receiving the phone, I thanked Assistant Li.
She called Lin Shi first, "Where are you? You just left me all alone like this, you really don't care if I live or die."
Lin Shi covered the phone receiver and said, "I'm dealing with the media. They asked if you want to be interviewed by them."
Su Jin asked cautiously, "It's not one of those unscrupulous media outlets, is it?"
"It's serious. They said they want to interview you about how you felt at the time."
Su Jin pondered for a moment and then agreed.
Anyway, staying in the hospital is pretty boring.
...
Su Jin sat on the hospital bed and smiled politely at the camera.
The reporter asked her, "Were you very scared at the time?"
Su Jin nodded truthfully, "No matter how much you say you want to die normally, when faced with such a major disaster right in front of you, you will still feel fear in your heart."
The reporter nodded in agreement. "We heard that you let your friend go first, and then you stayed behind to take Teacher Shen away. Why did you make that decision? Wouldn't it have been faster for two people to drag him away?"
Su Jin did not answer the question as quickly as she had answered the previous one.
Lost in her memories, she took a breath and continued, "She has a family, and she has a loving mother waiting for her."
The reporter was surprised by her answer.
Su Jin's eyes weren't fixed on the camera; instead, she looked at her fingers.
"Her mother is very good to me."
It's all contained in just one sentence.
The reporter understood perfectly, "You two have a really good relationship. I heard you've known each other for ten years. Ten years of friendship is truly rare."
Su Jin smiled and nodded, "That's why I cherish this relationship. I'm not someone who likes to build close relationships, so I don't have many close friends."
The reporter continued, with a slightly joking tone, "We've also heard about Mr. Shen and your story. What were your reasons for saving him back then?"
Su Jin didn't understand. "Saving people doesn't need a reason. Even if it was a complete stranger I didn't know, I would still have saved them."
She added, "Of course, except for people I have a grudge against."
The reporter asked curiously, "What would you do if someone was your enemy?"
Su Jin raised an eyebrow. "What else can we do? Of course, we'll kick him while he's down, so he'll never be able to recover for the rest of his life."
The reporter took it as a joke and laughed in agreement, saying, "Ms. Su is truly a person who has strong likes and dislikes."
Su Jin looked at the camera and said, "This world is not black and white, and everyone has different sides. But for me, my bottom line for my friends is not to betray the country."
...
The interview has ended.
Su Jin was browsing Weibo while lying in bed.
Because of what happened yesterday, her reputation has changed slightly.
Originally, some of Shen Yanxiu's fans disliked her, but after she posted about saving Shen Yanxiu online, these fans were ridiculed.
She saved your brother's life, and you still can't stand her?
If you're really a fan of Shen Yanxiu, you should swear on Su Jin's body twice.
[You say she's putting on an act? Why don't you try putting on one yourself?]
Of course, the majority of the criticism was directed at the production team.
[A life was almost lost, what was the production team thinking?]
[It seems Ji Yuanzhou has broken a leg, right?]
[Except for him, I'm quite worried about everyone else.]
Su Jin silently gave this comment a thumbs up.
And that night, she dragged Chen Yanxiu out and took photos of herself smoking Director Yan's cigarettes from various angles.
In the photo, there are red and blue lights behind her, and her silhouette is reflected in the darkness as she smokes, looking indifferent to life and death.
[Surviving a near-death experience is like filming a blockbuster movie]
[Su Jin: Taking a life-changing photo at 24]
[She's a bit like the protagonist in a movie who survives to the end; all her companions are dead, and only she manages to escape.]
What is Chen Yanxiu?
[The prey that Su Jin caught...]
Su Jin was engrossed in browsing Weibo when there was a knock on the ward door. She looked up and called out, "Come in."
"Little Violet, I've come to see you."
The person who entered was Lin Shi's mother. She looked just like Su Jin remembered her, a little chubby, wearing glasses, but she looked older than she remembered, with many white hairs in her hair.
Su Jin felt as if she had returned to her teenage years, back to the girl who went to her house after school to eat and do her homework, and was scolded by her for whispering with Lin Shi.
Instead of being someone who lives a terrible life and doesn't even know how to move forward.
Su Jin called out to her, "Auntie."
Lin Shi's mother responded and sat down, asking, "How are you feeling? How long will you be hospitalized?"
Su Jin replied obediently, "It's nothing serious. The doctor just wants me to stay in the hospital for observation for a while."
She patted her chest and said, "It's good that everyone is alright. Everything else is secondary."
After sighing, she frowned, grabbed Su Jin's hand, and said, "Next time you encounter something like this, don't worry about others, just get out of there first. Saving people isn't your responsibility."
Su Jin rubbed her nose; that familiar feeling was back.
"I know, it's because I don't want to see someone die..."
