Chapter 17 The Woman in the Stone Wall

Suddenly, footsteps and shouts came from the cellar entrance.

Song Xiwei suddenly stood up, exchanged a glance with Xiao Zhuang, and then her gaze lingered on the hairpin in Ao Qian's hair. She said to Ao Qian, "Young Master, please stay here and rest. Xiao Zhuang and I will guard the entrance to the cellar."

Aoqian showed no extra expression, simply saying, "I understand."

When Song Xiwei and Xiao Zhuang arrived at the cellar entrance, Xiao Zhuang's expression changed drastically. He used a secret telepathic technique to ask Song Xiwei, "Why did they suddenly surround this place! What exactly is going on?"

Song Xiwei didn't know what was going on either; the cellar was now surrounded.

As the crowd grew larger and larger, carrying torches, their intentions became clear.

Xiao Zhuang muttered helplessly, "We thought we wouldn't alert them. We've been as careful as we could, but we still attracted these people..."

Song Xi secretly scanned the crowd and suddenly noticed something amiss.

"Xiao Zhuang, don't make any rash moves. I roughly know what's going on." After saying this, Song Xiwei turned and walked towards the cellar.

Back in the cellar, they saw Aoqian standing against a wall, deep in thought.

Song Xiwei didn't speak to Aoqian. She simply walked to his side and stood there. Then, she raised her hand and waved it, and the wall disappeared.

A pregnant woman, still shaken, looked at Song Xiwei and Aoqian.

Ao Qian narrowed his eyes, remaining silent.

Song Xiwei also stared at the woman with a probing look.

Neither of them made a move. Instead, the woman, with difficulty and her pregnant belly protruding, curtsied to Song Xiwei and Aoqian, her voice filled with fear and pleading, "Two heroes, please pretend you didn't see me! I beg you! Save the child in my womb!"

The woman was about to kneel down when Song Xiwei stopped her. "You're unwell, no need for formalities. Let's get straight to the point: who are you? Why are you here? Are those people outside looking for you?"

The woman wept, her face streaked with tears. "I am the wife of an outer disciple of the Dragon Bone Branch, named Yuan Qi. Last month, a powerful figure suddenly spoke to our sect leader, and he ordered me to be imprisoned. I heard they intend to sacrifice my unborn child to the new Demon Lord. My poor child..."

Aoqian remained silent, while Song Xiwei pondered how much truth was in the woman's words.

The woman, seemingly desperate, grasped Song Xiwei's hand as if it were a lifeline, pleading, "Please, two chivalrous gentlemen, help my child. I'm willing to be your slave in my next life..."

Caught off guard, Song Xiwei's hand was grabbed by the woman. Considering that the woman was pregnant, she didn't push her away. Instead, she held the woman's hand back and comforted her, saying, "Don't get agitated. This matter needs to be discussed carefully."

It is a noble cause to reform a young man, but one cannot stand idly by when encountering a pregnant woman in need of help.

However, the matter of Aoqian is already very troublesome, and now that there is another pregnant woman to take care of, things become even more complicated.

The woman was terrified that she would be pushed away and lose her baby, so she gripped Song Xiwei's hand tighter and tighter, almost pressing herself into Song Xiwei's arms.

Aoqian didn't know why his focus was on this.

He had no sympathy for the woman's plight. In Chidu, such things were commonplace; it was always a case of the strong surviving and the weak bowing down in submission.

He originally intended to eliminate the woman hiding inside the wall while Song Xiwei was away, but Song Xiwei noticed.

As he watched Song Xiwei and the woman named Yuan Qi clasp hands tightly together, another voice seemed to be clamoring in Aoqian's mind.
