"I don't know, I can't remember anything..."
The boy clutched his head, looking pained.
Song Xiwei gently took the boy's hand. "If you can't remember, don't think about it. How about I come up with a name for you on the spot?"
The boy nodded, seemingly confused.
Seeing Song Xiwei stare at the boy from head to toe, her gaze finally settling on the dark blue feathers adorning the end of the boy's hair ribbon.
Song Xiwei thought he looked quite good with his hair tied up like that. "Kongyu, how about I call you Kongyu?"
“Kongyu? I like that name.” The boy smiled.
Song Xiwei and Kong Yu went from being completely unrelated to becoming partners.
Kong Yu really liked following Song Xiwei; he would go wherever Song Xiwei went.
Song Xiwei was escorting a group of injured cultivators to a safe place.
At first, Kong Yu didn't suspect anything. Along the way, he and the other cultivators got along peacefully, and everyone treated each other the same.
Kong Yu always felt that there were several cultivators watching Song Xiwei with predatory eyes.
That feeling made him very uncomfortable.
Privately, he asked Song Xiwei, "Did you meet those cultivators along the way?"
"They're pretty much like you. Most of them are injured and have nowhere to go, or they've gotten lost in the desert. We'll save as many as we can, they've had it tough too." Song Xiwei, only twelve years old, is kind-hearted and never thought that the people she saved had ulterior motives.
Kong Yu swallowed back the words he was about to say, but after hesitating for a moment, he still tried to remind Song Xiwei: "You'd better be careful. There are so many cultivators; what if they have ulterior motives..."
"Plotting something against me? What could I possibly want from me?" Song Xiwei reached up and touched her face, thinking to herself that she was already dressed as a man, so there shouldn't be any trouble for her.
Song Xiwei said, "Aren't you overthinking it? Everyone is doing well, looking out for each other along the way, and it's been quite lively."
Kong Yu said no more.
But he clings to Song Xiwei every day, watching her even more closely than before.
A sandstorm swept in, disrupting everyone's rhythm.
Several cultivators suddenly experienced a decline in their health and were on the verge of collapse.
The group has been trapped in the cave for half a month, and the sandstorm shows no sign of stopping.
In search of water and food, Song Xiwei had no choice but to leave the cave alone.
Kong Yu naturally wanted to go with her, but Song Xiwei refused, saying, "It's too dangerous outside. You stay here. Also, you and the others need to look after each other and wait for me to come back, okay?"
Kong Yu didn't want her to leave on her own, but she vaguely sensed that these cultivators seemed to be plotting something behind the scenes.
He intended to stay and gather clues, so he decided to play along and stay.
Sure enough, not long after Song Xiwei left, those cultivators revealed their true colors.
It happened very quickly and suddenly.
Kong Yu belatedly realized that those cultivators had actually approached her with a purpose from the very beginning.
He also brought a magical artifact that could devour the power of a primordial spirit, intending to ambush her and devour her primordial spirit power.
Song Xiwei had never displayed her primordial spirit power, and Kong Yu didn't know why these cultivators would want to get their hands on it.
He was bound by these cultivators, feeling anxious and worried that Song Xiwei would be plotted against by these treacherous cultivators upon her return.
Just as they were wondering how to send a message, something went wrong with the cultivators.
The devouring artifact malfunctioned because it required the blood of those cultivators to activate it, causing several cultivators to collapse from exhaustion.
Kong Yu never expected that she would be captured and used as a substitute.
