Chapter 58 What is your relationship?

After activating her invisibility shield, Song Xiwei continued to activate her perception.

Closer and closer, more and more, it seemed as if the entire city of Huicheng was being taken over by a strange creature.

When Song Xi opened her eyes, she looked at Ao Qian with a somewhat confused expression, "Young Master, have you ever seen such a thing before!"

Song Xiwei drew what she had just perceived.

Aoqian stared intently at what she had drawn, but shook his head. "I've never seen anything like it before."

Song Xiwei's expression was solemn. "I've never seen anything like it before! It doesn't look like a demon, a monster, or a ghost, yet there are so many of them! And they exude a strong evil aura! What exactly are they?!"

Soon, without Song Xiwei needing to sense it, those things had already appeared in their field of vision.

Fortunately, after dark, there were no people wandering around the streets, and no one was setting up stalls. The monsters came in dense swarms, making strange wailing noises.

It's fortunate that no one was attacked.

However, there are exceptions. A few stray cats were unfortunately caught in the crossfire of a monster army while foraging for food.

Song Xiwei witnessed several stray cats being corroded and swallowed by those things in the blink of an eye.

"Oh no!" Song Xiwei exclaimed as the creatures suddenly stopped and headed towards her. "The invisibility shield is probably useless. Those things don't have eyes; they rely entirely on their senses. I should have stayed in the inn! It's much more dangerous outside!"

Song Xiwei realized she had made a mistake.

She looked at Aoqian with great shame, "Young Master, this is my first time serving as someone's subordinate, and I lack experience. I will definitely learn from this lesson. But don't worry, I can handle those monsters! You stay here, I'll go and deal with them!"

Before Song Xiwei could make a move, Ao Qian interrupted her, saying, "Song Xiwei, I don't blame you."

Song Xi smiled slightly, "I know, Young Master, wait for me to come back!"

After saying this, Song Xiwei, no longer looking at Ao Qian, leaped down, pushed the monsters with a palm strike from a distance, and then headed in another direction.

In the blink of an eye, Song Xiwei had completely disappeared from Aoqian's sight.

The night breeze was cool, and the night in Huicheng was very dark, especially after Song Xiwei left, making it even more desolate.

After a full half hour, Song Xiwei finally returned.

She said to Aoqian, slightly out of breath, "Young Master, we're safe for now. You've kept me waiting."

Aoqian didn't speak, but stared at Song Xiwei from head to toe.

Song Xiwei quickly moved her limbs and said to Aoqian, "I'm not injured. Those monsters are strange. They didn't attack me on their own, but they could spin silk, just like spiders weaving webs. You know, I almost got caught in their web just now. It was really close!"

"The internet?" Ao Qian's expression changed slightly, as if he suddenly remembered something.

Song Xiwei sensed that Aoqian seemed to know something, so she rested her chin on her hand and asked Aoqian, "Has Young Master discovered something?"

"Song Xiwei, what is your relationship with Ze Lin?" Ao Qian suddenly asked.

Song Xiwei shook her head slightly. "You mean that cousin who took your place—no, your half-brother, the one who's temporarily sitting in your seat? My knowledge of him is limited to you, Shaojun! What's wrong? Why do you ask?"

Ao Qian fell into a brief moment of contemplation. After a pause, he suddenly spoke up: "I don't understand either. But, according to you, the keeper of these web-weaving monsters is no ordinary person; only Ze Lin could do it."
