"Xu Yanshu, you should be someone who can take a joke!"
"Bring it on, whatever tricks you have," Xu Yanshu said, taking a few quick steps forward and meeting Zhou Zehao's gaze without flinching. He spoke in a deep voice, then glanced back inside, adding, "But since this is a feud between the two of us..."
"Then let's settle this privately. There's no need to involve innocent people, right?"
Maintaining a superficial peace is possible, but he knows perfectly well that he and Zhou Zehao cannot achieve true harmony in the short term.
Since that's the case, then we might as well just deal with whatever comes our way.
No wonder he's the old man's son; his hypocrisy is exactly the same as Zhou Shengyu's!
A hint of mockery flickered in Zhou Zehao's narrow eyes. He nodded noncommittally, "Big brother is right, I'll remember that!"
Knowing it was getting late, Xu Yanshu didn't intend to say anything more to the other person. He gave them a cold look, then turned and drove away.
With the car window half-open, the night wind made him increasingly awake. Xu Yanshu thought about everything that had happened that day, his lips gradually turning downwards, and his eyes flickering between light and dark.
As he expected, most of the people present today did not buy into his sudden appearance as the eldest son of the Zhou family. Some questioned whether he was a counterfeit or shoddy product, while others suspected that he had ulterior motives.
So, next, many people will probably investigate my background and past.
Xu Yanshu frowned in resistance, but it seemed inevitable. He couldn't help but sigh helplessly.
As soon as Xu Yanshu stepped into the house, she was surprised to find that Uncle He was still awake.
"Yan Shu, you're back! I thought you were staying at the Zhou family's place tonight!" He Wen put down his phone and said with some surprise, then cautiously inquired, "Things should have gone smoothly over there today, right?"
This concern warmed Xu Yanshu's heart. He smiled at He Wen and readily replied, "Everything is normal, nothing went wrong!"
"It's getting late, you should get some rest!"
The only unexpected thing was that he didn't expect Xie Huanyu to be there as well.
The moment she finished speaking, her phone rang. Xu Yanshu subconsciously looked down and saw that it was Jiang Zhengyu calling.
"Okay, then you should get some rest too." He Wen readily agreed and then turned and went back to his room.
Xu Yanshu turned and walked onto the balcony, swiping to answer the phone as he did so.
"Hey, it's me!"
"How's it going today? Did that bastard Zhou Zehao cause any trouble?"
Xu Yanshu found this straightforwardness somewhat amusing. After a moment's thought, he replied, "Nothing major, just that Xie Huanyu was taken away by him!"
Mentioning this matter, Xu Yanshu couldn't help but feel annoyed. He took out his hand and tugged at his tie. This Zhou Zehao really seemed to thrive on chaos.
Xie Huanyu?
Upon hearing the name, Jiang Zhengyu on the other end of the phone couldn't help but swear. Since they couldn't do anything openly, Zhou Zehao had come up with such a disgusting way to get rid of people.
"As far as I know, my aunt seems to have gone too. If she sees Xie Huanyu, won't she have some misunderstandings?"
Xu Yanshu's eye twitched involuntarily, and his face immediately darkened. He had only thought that Zhou Zehao wanted to use this opportunity to sow discord between him and Xu Yanshu, and had not thought of this possibility.
There had been misunderstandings before, and now that he and Xie Huanyu were appearing together on such a solemn occasion, it was hard to guarantee that there wouldn't be any more misunderstandings.
...
Even though her daughter had been abroad for several days, Qin Yao took the initiative to make a video call to Qin Shengyi, who was overseas.
"Darling, are you settling in well over there? Just let me know if you need anything!"
"Well, it's alright, after all, it's not my first time here," Qin Shengyi answered truthfully, then seemed to suddenly remember something, "Mom, how's the management change going? Why do I feel like these people don't know anything about it!"
When asked about this, Qin Yao's face showed a hint of unease. The talk of changing personnel was just a pretext to send her daughter to the branch office.
"Such things should of course be done in secret. If word gets out beforehand, wouldn't that make everyone panic?"
That seems to be true.
Qin Shengyi nodded as if he understood, then pouted somewhat unhappily, indicating that he would not be able to return to China for the time being.
So should we tell Nannan about yesterday?
Qin Yao hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to hold off on mentioning it for the time being. Although she really wanted her daughter to completely let go of Xu Yanshu, she couldn't bear to see her daughter secretly heartbroken because of it.
The mother and daughter chatted for a few more minutes before finally ending the video call.
Qin Yao unconsciously let out a long sigh of relief. In truth, she wasn't sure if doing this would be too cruel to Nannan...
Just as she came to her senses, Ouyang Ming walked into the office alone from outside.
"Didn't we say we'd video call Nannan today? Let's take advantage of this time when we're both free..."
Qin Yao waved her hand, "We've already taken care of it, and Nannan is fine."
Has it already been played?
Ouyang Ming was slightly taken aback, then looked up at his lover with a rather resentful expression. He knew that she was also worried about their daughter, but she still insisted on making a video call when he was not around.
