Chapter Five: Why don't you just die?!

Xie Huanyu questioned through gritted teeth, smashing the empty glass onto the ground.

"Xu Yanshu, who do you think you are, daring to hit A-Huai?"

Red wine trickled down his head, instantly staining the man's suit and making him look utterly disheveled.

After regaining his senses, Xu Yanshu wiped his face with his hand, a deep chill lingering between his brows. He said coldly, "He deserved it!"

"Heh!" Xie Huanyu sneered upon hearing this, her tone mocking as she retorted, her eyes blazing with anger. "Xu Yanshu, are you never going to stop? Why don't you just die?!"

Something's fishy going on. If she'd known, she shouldn't have let Xu Yanshu come along. Otherwise, Ah Huai wouldn't have been chased and bitten by this mad dog for no reason.

Thinking that Ah Huai seemed truly determined to sever ties with her, Xie Huanyu became even more furious, her cold gaze seeming as if she wanted to torture him to death.

Seeing the woman's extremely harsh expression, Xu Yanshu unconsciously clenched his fists, and the veins on his forehead bulged one after another.

In fact, Lu Huai deliberately provoked her today. This self-directed and self-acted drama was not very clever, but the key point was that Xie Huanyu was more willing to believe Lu Huai.

Recalling Lu Huai's remarks, he smiled bitterly to himself. Perhaps it really is true that a forced relationship is never sweet.

Xie Huanyu arrogantly raised her chin at the man, "What, you want to hit me?"

That's unnecessary...

Xu Yanshu slowly loosened his fist, his shoulders slumped, and he coldly turned his head to the other side.

It's time to see things clearly.

Continuing to persist in this obsession will only demean yourself.

Xie Huanyu's eyes flashed with a fierce light: "Let me tell you, this matter will not be left like this. I will make you pay for what you have done."

After uttering such a harsh remark, Xie Huanyu shoved Xu Yanshu aside and strode away in her high heels.

Xu Yanshu stood there stunned for a long time before he came to his senses and gave a bitter smile to the air.

——

In the following days, Xu Yanshu did not see Xie Huanyu again. He thought she was probably busy coaxing Lu Huai.

He didn't care about any of this and started to handle his resignation handover on his own.

On Friday, Xu Yanshu went to the Xie family and formally told Xie Junyang about his intention to resign.

Xie Junshan waved his hand dismissively, "If you're really tired, I can give you a day off."

"If you have any complaints about your compensation, you can let me know, and I will try my best to meet your needs..."

Xu Yanshu shook his head and stated his position coldly.

"Uncle, I've made up my mind!"

He joined the Xu Group after graduation, and in the past few years, he has worked tirelessly for the company as the deputy manager, even experiencing so much pressure that he couldn't sleep at night.

He didn't want to continue working at such a high intensity, partly because of the decision to divorce.

Having decided to let go, he didn't want to have any further involvement with Xie Huanyu after the divorce.

The smile on Xie Junshan's face gradually disappeared, replaced by a sinister and cold expression. His steady tone carried a strong sense of reprimand.

Are you really going to be so ungrateful?

Xu Yanshu suddenly raised his head and met Xie Junshan's solemn and gloomy face. He shivered for no reason.

Previously, Xie Junyang had always been gentle and kind to him, a stark contrast to his current stormy demeanor...

At this moment, Xie Junyang's arrogant attitude was exactly the same as Xie Huanyu's.

After stubbing out his finished cigar in the ashtray, Xie Junshan gave a noncommittal snort and then said...

"Don't forget who sponsored your university education!"

"What, now that you've grown wings, you're thinking of going independent?"

When he arranged for his daughter to marry Xu Yanshu, it wasn't just to repay Xu's life-saving grace. More importantly, he saw Xu Yanshu's potential and wanted him to work wholeheartedly for the Xie family.

As it turns out, his judgment was absolutely correct. In recent years, under Xu Yanshu's leadership, the group has developed better and better, saving him a lot of trouble both inside and out.

Staring incredulously at the person in front of him, Xu Yanshu hesitated, a chill creeping from the soles of his feet to every corner of his body.

Thinking about it carefully now, many things don't seem as simple as they appear.

Although he has stepped down to a secondary position, he is still the chairman of the group.

Therefore, it was impossible for him not to know Xie Huanyu's indifferent attitude towards the company, yet he never criticized her; instead, he repeatedly put pressure on himself.

In terms of personal feelings, he seemed to be comforting himself, but in reality, he kept advocating that he would unconditionally compromise with Xie Huanyu.

He had always been grateful for the Xie family's financial support, but Xie Junshan's words now seemed to carry a hint of moral blackmail.

Does the financial assistance I received back then mean I have to work for the Xie family for the rest of my life?

“I know why you want to resign. It’s simply because Huanyu has been getting involved with that Lu family kid again recently.”

"Then I won't hide it from you anymore..."

"But in the end, it's also your incompetence. After three years of marriage, you still couldn't pull Huanyu's heart away from Lu Huai, and you still have the nerve to mention resigning to me?!"

Is this also his fault?

Xu Yanshu had originally intended to use this opportunity to inform the other party of his decision to divorce, but upon hearing this, he paused for a moment, then, without hesitation, asked in return,

"Are you implying that Xie Huanyu's affair was also my fault?"

It's ridiculous that he had gone to great lengths to keep Xie Junyang's heart condition a secret, only to find out that Xie Junyang already knew everything and was now blaming him for everything.

Snap—

Without saying a word, Xie Junshan grabbed an ashtray and smashed it at Xu Yanshu, who was caught off guard and instantly got a bruise on his forehead.

Xie Junshan, enraged, demanded, "Who gave you the audacity to speak to me like that?"

"Huan Yu only did what he wanted to do. If I hear you slandering her reputation again, I will never let you off easily!"

So, in Chairman Xie's eyes, he was nothing more than a pawn?!

Xu Yanshu seemed completely oblivious to the pain, never expecting that his previously highly respected father-in-law's true colors, hidden beneath his disguise, were so ugly. He was suddenly jolted awake from his daze.

Yes, he and Xie Huanyu are, after all, blood-related father and daughter, so how could he truly favor someone with a different surname like himself?

Thump thump thump—

After the knocking, Xie Huanyu pushed open the study door and walked in.

Noticing the bright red mark on Xu Yanshu's forehead, she was taken aback at first, then raised an eyebrow with schadenfreude.

He deserved it!

As if suddenly remembering something, Xie Huanyu's expression changed abruptly, and she questioned him irritably.

What did you say to my dad this time?
