Chapter 5 Divorce Certificate

Chapter 5 Divorce Certificate

Hearing that Zhong Hui would no longer ask about the child support, Ge Zhihua felt relieved and just wanted to go and complete the procedures quickly, because the demolition in Shangtuan Village would not wait.

He seemed to see piles of banknotes waving at him, and then he would have everything.

Zhong Xiong sneered. This brother-in-law, oh no, former brother-in-law, can only be described as short-sighted, stupid and unaware of it.

"Then, brother, Hui, shall we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau now?" Ge Zhihua tried his best not to laugh.

Zhong Xiong snorted, "No rush."

"Why?" Ge Zhihua was anxious.

"If you want a divorce, you have to sort out the things here first."

"Didn't I already agree? The house and land at home will be given to Zhong Hui and Linlin." Ge Zhihua looked anxious and couldn't wait any longer.

"Words are not enough. What if you change your mind later?" Zhong Xiong said in a deep voice.

Ge Zhihua's heart choked, as Zhong Xiong saw through his thoughts. He lowered his head guiltily and stopped talking.

Zhong Hui glared at Ge Zhihua, fortunately her elder brother was prepared.

"Second uncle, you are here, please come in and sit down." Just as she was thinking about it, she saw her eldest brother Zhong Xiong opening the iron gate of the house with a smile on his face.

Zhong Xiuwen, the Party Secretary of Xiatuan Village, walked in. He knew that Zhong Hui wanted to divorce, but he did not try to persuade her. What was there to persuade her? He had heard that Chen Shimei was trying to climb up the social ladder and was shameless in asking for money.

"Hmph." Zhong Xiuwen glanced at Ge Zhihua, and Ge Zhihua didn't dare to say anything.

Now, the village party secretary, village head, and accountant are all surnamed Zhong. As a person with an outsider surname, he dare not act rashly.

Seeing Zhong Xiuwen coming, Zhong Hui turned around and went to the house to get some water. Zhong Xiuwen waved his hands repeatedly: "I don't want to drink. Let's sort out your business first."

When Zhong Xiong heard this, he immediately went to the main room and moved a table out. Zhong Hui also moved all the stools out of the main room.

Soon, Xiatuan Village Chief Zhong Xiuqin and Accountant Zhong Xiushu arrived.

Although her second uncle said there was no need to pour water, Zhong Hui was not so tactless. She hurried back to the main room, brought out the kettle, and made some tea.

"How is it? Has the property been divided clearly?" Zhong Xiuwen asked after taking a sip of tea.

"It's clear now. Linlin belongs to Zhong Hui, and this house, homestead, and several acres of land all belong to Zhong Hui." Zhong Xiong replied immediately.

His parents had passed away long ago, and he was the eldest brother, so the affairs of his younger brothers and sisters were his responsibility.

Zhong Xiuwen nodded, without asking Ge Zhihua's opinion. He then quietly discussed the matter with the village chief and the accountant, and said, "That's fine. Zhong Hui is a woman, and even if she gets divorced, we can't make her unable to live."

"Now that the matter has been clearly sorted out, our village cadres will bear witness today. I'll have the accountant prepare a written document in triplicate, one for each party involved, and our village will also keep a copy. This way, there won't be any disputes in the future."

"Well, that's good. Second uncle is really far-sighted." Zhong Xiong praised with a smile.

Zhong Xiuwen glanced at him and swallowed the words that were about to come out of his mouth.

The accountant quickly drafted the written document and showed it to Zhong Xiong and Zhong Hui. Seeing that there were no problems, he asked them to sign.

Zhong Hui signed her name neatly.

It was Ge Zhihua's turn. Seeing that he was hesitant and didn't even pick up the pen, Zhong Xiong kicked him on the butt: "Hurry up, if you're late, they won't wait for you in Tuan Village."

Ge Zhihua felt a little embarrassed. He gritted his teeth, picked up a pen and signed his name.

Looking at the black and white words on the document, Zhong Xiong nodded with satisfaction.

He added, "Second Uncle, since this homestead belongs to Zhong Hui, why not get her a homestead certificate? That way it will be more convenient."

"It costs money to get a homestead certificate. We are all in the village anyway, so there is no need for that, right?" Zhong Xiuwen disagreed, thinking it was unnecessary.

Zhong Xiuwen is the cousin of Zhong Xiong and his siblings. He watched them grow up and wanted to do good for them.

Although Zhong Xiuwen felt it was unnecessary, Zhong Xiong insisted and Zhong Hui agreed, so Zhong Xiuwen agreed.

Watching them excitedly discussing the procedures for changing the homestead certificate, Ge Zhihua was so depressed that his teeth were almost broken.

After they finally finished discussing it, he said hesitantly, "Well, Hui, should we go and handle the paperwork?"

"Call me Zhong Hui from now on, don't call me anything else." Zhong Hui felt as if she had eaten a fly and was disgusted.

Ge Zhihua looked embarrassed, afraid that Zhong Hui would not go with him to handle the formalities, so he nodded immediately: "I understand."

Zhong Hui didn't want to see him again, so she immediately went to the room to find her ID. Accompanied by Zhong Xiong, she and Ge Zhihua went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to go through the divorce procedures.

The red book was changed to a green book, and in just two days, she became a divorced woman. Zhong Hui looked at the divorce certificate in her hand, still a little dazed.

Zhong Xiong patted his little sister's shoulder and said, "From now on, you'll have your big brother."

Zhong Hui tilted her head back and smiled. Yes, she still had her elder brother. After leaving Ge Zhihua, her life would be good in the future.

"Let's go home. Your sister-in-law has prepared a table full of dishes. Let's celebrate." Zhong Xiong waved his hand and pulled Zhong Hui into the van.

Ge Zhihua, who fell behind, saw that they didn't even look at him and the van drove away, and his face turned red with anger.

He picked up the divorce certificate and read it carefully. Only then did he feel better and felt that the beating was worth it.

Afraid of being delayed, Ge Zhihua limped and generously called a taxi to Shangtuan Village.

When they arrived at Shangtuan Village, Ge Zhihua paid the fare despite the pain, and strode towards Wang Guimei's convenience store without caring about the pain in his body.

"Have the government officials arrived? Are they really going to demolish the house?" Ge Zhihua asked impatiently.

Wang Guimei glanced at his bruised face. Just then, someone came in to buy cigarettes. She could only suppress her unhappiness and give the cigarettes to the person first.

"Hey, who is this? I haven't seen you for a day, and how come you have bruises on your face?" Wang Daming, who was buying cigarettes, said jokingly.

Only then did Ge Zhihua remember his own face, and he quickly lowered his head and stopped talking.

Wang Guimei was a sharp-tongued person, and she immediately said, "What's it to you? You're nosy. Pay me last month's cigarette bill first."

Wang Daming is a henpecked man who doesn't have much pocket money every month. As soon as he heard Wang Guimei asking him to pay for cigarettes, he took the cigarettes and ran away.

"Don't worry, I'll give it to you next month, next month." Wang Daming said as he ran.

Wang Guimei rolled her eyes and said, "If you don't give it to me next month, I'll go to your house and ask your wife for it."

After saying this, Wang Daming ran even faster. Wang Guimei then looked at Ge Zhihua and asked, "Are you divorced?"

Ge Zhihua quickly took out the divorce certificate from his pocket and said, "Divorced."

Then he hurriedly asked, "Is the demolition office here?"

Wang Guimei frowned. "No, the government officials did come this morning, but they talked about the village's sanitation issues and didn't mention demolition."

Ge Zhihua felt a little disappointed, but after thinking about it, he felt relieved: "It's okay, this just gives us some time."

Wang Guimei lowered her eyes: "Yeah."

"Then let's go get the certificate tomorrow." Ge Zhihua said excitedly.

Wang Guimei lowered her head, not knowing what she was thinking. After a long while, Ge Zhihua couldn't help but feel nervous, and finally nodded.
