Chapter 7 Raising Money
Zhong Ping and her husband Li Chengsheng opened a seafood store in the vegetable market in the west of the city, selling all kinds of seafood. However, Li Chengsheng is a stingy person and will not easily give seafood to relatives from the Zhong family.
If they were brought back, they would definitely be those that couldn't be sold and were not very fresh.
After hearing what Zhong Li said, Li Chengsheng felt a little embarrassed, and a look of anger flashed across his honest and loyal face.
But Zhong Li ignored him, snorted and said nothing.
Zhong Ping, who was steaming hairy crabs in the kitchen, hurried out and whispered, "This time, they're fresh. Absolutely fresh."
Before she got married, Zhong Ping was timid. After she got married, she only gave birth to a daughter, Li Xiaojuan. Her in-laws often pointed fingers at her. Her husband, Li Chengsheng, was also a bully at home. Now she is even more timid and timid.
This time it was my younger sister who got divorced. They rushed back after hearing the news. She still mustered up the courage to ask her husband to bring back some fresh ones, but they only brought back a few smaller ones.
"Okay, okay, let's not talk about those things. Ping, you should sit down and eat." Zhong Xiong quickly stood up to smooth things over.
Zhong Li nodded to her husband Yi Mincheng and stopped talking.
Soon Zhong Ping's hairy crabs were steamed, and the children rushed over and each took one away.
There were still two left on the plate. Zhong Li stood up and picked one up for Zhong Hui: "Come, little sister, you eat it. My little sister has been wronged."
Zhong Hui smiled at her fourth sister, lowered her head and started eating crabs.
"I asked everyone to come back today. Firstly, we brothers and sisters haven't seen each other for a long time, so I asked you to come back and chat about family matters. Secondly, our Zhong Hui got divorced, so I asked you to come back and celebrate with us."
After Zhong Xiong finished speaking, the expressions of the people at the table varied, especially Li Chengsheng, who looked incredulous.
"A woman celebrating her divorce..." Li Chengsheng muttered softly.
Zhong Li glared at him: "What did you say?"
"No, nothing said?" Li Chengsheng hurriedly shook his head.
"Zhong Li, don't say anything first." Zhong Xiong called Zhong Li, but he looked at Li Chengsheng with a warning look.
After everyone at the table quieted down again, Zhong Xiong continued, "Our little sister is unlucky to have run into a scumbag like Ge Zhihua. Although she's divorced, we can't let others laugh at her.
This is what I thought. After the divorce, my younger sister was allocated a piece of land for housing, and we can't make money out of the old house. I thought, my brothers and sisters, please chip in and help her with the money to repair the house. Now that the houses in our village can be rented out, we can let our younger sister be a rent collector and make that Ge guy die."
"Brother, this is not good..." Zhong Hui felt a little embarrassed and quickly stood up to stop him.
"Why is it not good? We have five siblings and you are the youngest. Mom missed you when she passed away. I think it's a good idea. You can renovate the house and I will give you 30,000 yuan." Zhong Li was the first to support.
She runs her own clothing store. Her husband, Yi Mincheng, is a policeman who works for the government. They have a daughter, Yi Shu. Business has been good recently, and Zhong Li speaks with confidence.
Yi Mincheng also supported her: "Yes, my little sister's matter is ours. Our family will contribute 30,000 yuan."
Zhong Hui also wanted to renovate the house. She was so eager to become a landlady that she couldn't bring herself to refuse.
"Third sister, third brother-in-law, thank you. I'll write you an IOU for this money and I will definitely pay you back."
Zhong Li waved her hand: "Don't worry."
Zhong Xiong looked at Zhong Li and her husband with approval. He was the eldest in the family, and an eldest brother was like a father. He thought of his brothers and sisters helping each other.
With Zhong Li taking the lead, Zhong Qin and his wife Song Yuting looked at each other and the couple came up with an idea.
"Let's pay 20,000. We just bought a house in the city and we don't have much money at the moment," said Zhong Qin.
This is indeed true. They bought a house in the city two years ago. When buying the house, his brothers and sisters lent him money to a certain extent. He and his wife are very grateful.
Zhong Xiong nodded and looked at Zhong Ping and his wife. Zhong Ping had no say at home, so Zhong Xiong turned his attention to Li Chengsheng.
Li Chengsheng's scalp tingled under his gaze, but he still pretended to be in trouble: "Brother, my brother just bought a house, and we have already borrowed all the money. This is too unfortunate, haha."
Zhong Li rolled her eyes again. "Your brother bought a house? Your deadbeat brother, who's over 30 and hasn't worked a day in his life, can actually afford a house?"
Li Chengsheng quickly explained: "My family contributed some money, and my brothers also chipped in."
"Oh, you gave money to your brother when he bought a house, but you didn't give a cent to my little sister? Li Chengsheng, check your conscience. When you bought that shop, my brothers and sisters contributed a lot to you. I remember that my little sister, who was short of money at the time, even lent you 10,000 yuan."
As soon as Zhong Li said this, Li Chengsheng's face instantly became embarrassed. He wanted to say that the money had been repaid long ago. Zhong Ping muttered a few words beside him but still didn't say anything.
Zhong Xiong looked deeply at Li Chengsheng, then at Zhong Ping, shook his head, and continued to smile: "It's okay, if you have money, then help me. It's a give-and-take relationship."
Li Chengsheng was embarrassed, and Zhong Ping lowered her head and said nothing.
"As the eldest in the family, I will give Hui 50,000 yuan. Let's pool it together. We can't let our younger sister be gossiped about." Zhong Xiong made the final decision.
"Thank you, eldest brother, second brother and third sister. I'll write you an IOU for the money and I will definitely pay you back." Zhong Hui's eyes were slightly warm. Men are unreliable. It is family members who can be relied upon.
"What's there to thank? We're all family." Sister-in-law Yang Fangqin said with a smile, pulling Zhong Hui to sit down and eat.
The money issue has been settled, and the building of the house is also easy to deal with. Zhong Xiong is the contractor himself and has a construction team. He can just ask them to come over when the time comes.
There was some chatting and laughing at the table, and everyone was discussing what kind of house they wanted to build.
After the children finished their meal, they opened the box of milk that Aunt Meihua had sent them, took a bottle each, and ran out to play happily.
