Chapter 491 Learn from Me?

Old Man Cai had no intention of waiting for Anna and headed straight for the tea plantation with Le Yao.

"Old Man Cai, aren't we going to wait for her?" Le Yao couldn't help but ask.

"What's the point of waiting? There are so many staff members, can't they just bring her over?" Old Man Cai's tone wasn't very friendly.

Le Yao could only smile awkwardly; this old man really had a fiery temper.

"Have you ever picked tea leaves?" Old Man Cai had a pretty good impression of Le Yao. Although the girl was very pretty, she seemed quite down-to-earth. At least her clothes and mannerisms made her look like someone who was there to work. Especially her hands, her nails were clean and neat, unlike the girl from before, whose nails were decorated in a gaudy way, with a few insects on them with their wings curled up. He didn't know what was so attractive about them.

"I have picked them." Le Yao nodded honestly, because in her previous life, she worked as a tour guide and led tours, including many eco-tourism experiences. She often picked cherries and strawberries, and of course, tea. She even fried tea.

After all, a tour guide is supposed to lead tourists through the experience, and if they don't know how, they are not competent. Therefore, they all go through preliminary research and simple training beforehand.

"Yes." Old Man Cai nodded.

"However, it's said that picking tea leaves in the morning is the best time, is that right?"

“Yes,” Old Man Cai nodded. “We usually pick tea leaves in the early morning.” He frowned slightly as he spoke. “But today, to accommodate your filming, we have to go into the tea garden in the afternoon.” He looked at the sky. “Fortunately, there’s no scorching sun today…”

"I'm sorry." Le Yao smiled apologetically. Now she seemed to understand why Old Man Cai had a bad temper; she had caused him trouble.

“What does this have to do with you? Besides, your film crew did provide compensation.” Old Man Cai sighed again. “Actually, if it hadn’t been exposed, our tea and other products wouldn’t have been able to get out of the market, and our villagers wouldn’t have been able to get rich. So, we understand…”

"Thank you, Uncle Cai." Le Yao really didn't know what else to say, so she could only say thank you.

"Haha, you're an interesting girl." Old Man Cai finally laughed.

By this time, the two had reached the foot of the mountain, where there were tea trees. However, Yueyao recognized them as artificially cultivated green tea varieties.

"Our Xixi Town has a good environment, mainly because of its good water, which nourishes high-quality tea trees..." Old Man Cai began to explain the knowledge about Xixi tea to Le Yao. "There are eight old tea trees that are over a hundred years old. The tea leaves made from them are simply... better than those that are touted as being of particularly high quality. However, during the turbulent period, four of them were burned down by the Red Guards, and now only four remain..."

"The tea gardens covering this mountain now all originated from those four old tea trees..."

"Later, we diversified our planting methods. We transplanted some green tea from Laoshan at the foot of the mountain, and it survived..."

"As the old saying goes: picking tea three days early is treasure, picking tea three days late is grass. Moreover, it is strictly forbidden to 'grow up the buds and pick,' 'delay picking,' or 'pick old tea leaves'..."

Le Yao listened attentively, nodding as she listened.

When Anna finished showering and getting ready, she found that Le Yao and Uncle Cai were gone. She asked them and found out that they had left long ago and that she had to go by herself. She almost swore, but took two deep breaths to calm herself down. Then she followed the program crew's directions toward the tea garden.
