Han Pengcheng breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing Le Yao carrying groceries out, he hurriedly stepped forward to take the plastic bag and forced a smile, saying, "Second Sister."
"You've become so sensible, you know to greet me now, but why don't you go downstairs?" Le Yao raised her hand and patted Han Pengcheng's head. "Come on, I'll make you hot pot today."
"Hehe." Han Pengcheng smirked. "I was just about to go downstairs." He glanced at the stairs, then quickly pulled the man into the house and closed the door. But he was still on edge because he saw Liao Hu standing at the top of the stairs, looking at them menacingly.
"What's wrong?" Le Yao turned to look at Han Pengcheng. "Did something happen? You seem a bit strange."
"No...no..." Han Pengcheng quickly smiled, "It's probably because I've been too busy with schoolwork lately, and I'm not used to it..."
Le Yao didn't say anything more, but changed her shoes and went inside, but her brows furrowed slightly: "Someone's come to the house?"
"No..." Han Pengcheng hurriedly shook his head, "How could anyone possibly come here?"
Le Yao's expression darkened slightly, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she carried the groceries to the kitchen and said, "Clean up the table."
Han Pengcheng went over to clear the dining table, only to find two clear footprints on the sofa floor and mud stains on the coffee table. He was immediately disgusted, but he couldn't explain it, so he could only take a rag and mop and clean it up.
During the rest of the meal, Le Yao didn't ask any unnecessary questions. She only inquired about his studies and how he planned to spend the Chinese New Year.
Han Pengcheng gradually relaxed, only saying that he hadn't thought it through yet.
After dinner, Le Yao packed up and prepared to leave: "Think carefully about how you want to spend your winter vacation. If you'd like, you can come with me during the Chinese New Year."
"Okay." Han Pengcheng nodded.
"I'm leaving."
"Second Sister," Han Pengcheng called out to her hurriedly.
"What's wrong?" Le Yao turned around.
"Did you come here by yourself?"
"Are we going to bring a lot of people with us?" Le Yao frowned.
"No, that's not what I meant. I meant it's not safe for you to be alone so late." Han Pengcheng said, picking up his coat. "I'll take you home."
"Hehe, no need." Le Yao patted his shoulder. "You just need to study hard and be a good person. Don't worry about me."
"Then I'll see you into the elevator." Han Pengcheng was still a little worried.
Le Yao didn't say anything, which was taken as tacit consent.
After watching Le Yao walk into the elevator, Han Pengcheng breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly turned around and went back to his room. He picked up his phone and sent a message to Liao Hu. He really hoped that Liao Hu could leave Xiling City. Anyway, he had money, so he should find a place to live a quiet life under an assumed name and stop wandering around here.
Liao Hu didn't leave at all. He stayed hidden in the stairwell. It wasn't that he didn't want to leave, but that he couldn't leave at all because there were bodyguards waiting at the entrance of the building. He wasn't sure if he would be recognized, so he could only hide at the entrance of the stairwell on the third floor and wait for an opportunity.
They waited for two hours.
He finally breathed a sigh of relief when Yue Yao left, but he was freezing.
Le Yao walked out of the building and then looked back. If she wasn't mistaken, Han Pengcheng was lying. A man had just left before she arrived. Who could it be?
