The car quickly drove into the Tsinghua Garden residential area.
The apartment is on the seventh floor, a two-bedroom unit of 75 square meters.
This community was redeveloped five years ago due to demolition. The homeowner was allocated four units: one for himself, one for each of his two sons, and the smallest unit that was left unoccupied was sold so that it could be used for his two grandsons' schooling.
The apartment was already fully furnished and wasn't rented out, so after a simple tidying up and furnishing, it was ready for immediate move-in.
"The furniture in the bedroom is from your room in the Xishan villa. I've moved it over here. The rest of the furniture was arranged by me. Take a look and see if you need anything..."
"I don't need anything, it's fine." Han Pengcheng looked around. The total area of the house was about the same as his previous room, but he felt quite cozy about it.
"Then you tidy up first, I'll cook." Le Yao said as she went into the kitchen, where she had bought some ingredients yesterday.
After Han Pengcheng had showered and changed, three dishes and a soup were already on the table.
"Let's eat," Le Yao gestured.
Han Pengcheng ate with great relish, finishing three bowls of rice in one go before stopping.
"What are your plans next?" Le Yao also put down her chopsticks.
"I want to find a place to work and study," Han Pengcheng said, looking at Le Yao. "I'm not young anymore, and I'm strong. I think I can support myself."
"Okay," Yue Yao nodded. "Do you need any help?"
"I...I want to try looking for it myself first, and then we'll talk about it if I can't find it."
“Okay.” Le Yao stood up. “You can clean up the dishes now. I’m leaving first. Call me if you need anything.”
"Okay." Han Pengcheng nodded, got up and saw Le Yao to the door. After watching her enter the elevator, he returned to his room. Just then, his phone rang. He hurriedly went over to look at it, and a look of disgust flashed in his eyes. He took a deep breath before answering, "Hello."
"Son, you're back?" Liao Hu seemed to be eating something while talking on the phone.
"Just got back." Han Pengcheng said casually.
"Why don't you come and see me?" Liao Hu seemed somewhat dissatisfied.
“I live in Han Binglan’s house, so I can’t just walk around.”
"Come over tonight, I have something for you to do."
"You'd better behave yourself. You should know that the police have been looking for you."
"I don't need you to teach me." Liao Hu's voice rose two octaves. "When I was out in the game, you were still nobody."
"I'll go tomorrow." Han Pengcheng said and hung up the phone. He then took a deep breath, his mind filled with Le Yao's words, "I hope you can be a good person too," and he felt incredibly conflicted.
Before Le Yao even left the residential compound, she received a call from an unknown number. She answered, "Who is this?"
“Alan, I’m your mother-in-law…”
Le Yao slammed on the brakes and stopped the car. Was she hallucinating?
"Alan, are you listening? I've arrived at Xiling Airport. Will you come pick me up?" He Rong was absolutely flexible and knew that she had to rely on her son at this moment. Even if she didn't like what her son liked, she wouldn't dare to show her displeasure.
"You dialed the wrong number, didn't you?" Le Yao swallowed hard. "I'm not married yet, so I don't have a mother-in-law." She then slammed the phone down, rubbing her arm. That Miss He must have gone crazy again, right? She was terrified.
