“Yes, you can,” Le Yao replied directly. “You can do whatever you want in your own place, Mom. You can plant whatever you want, but raising chickens is probably not an option because poultry are prone to disease. What if there’s bird flu or something…”
"Then we won't raise chickens, but I'll grow some tomatoes and eggplants for you." Liu Sujuan was happy. "You'll feel at ease eating them yourself then."
“Mom, we’ll eat together.” Le Yao smiled. “The rooms are all ready. Since Dad injured his leg, you can stay on the first floor, and my brother can choose his own room on the second floor…” The villa has three floors and more than a dozen rooms, which is enough to accommodate everyone.
"You mean we can move in too?"
"Do you mean you want me to live in such a big house all by myself?" Le Yao frowned.
“We…” Liu Sujuan hesitated, and couldn’t help but look at the man.
“My daughter is right. I’m worried about her living here alone.” Han Baozhu nodded. “Let’s stay here.”
"Okay." Liu Sujuan naturally listened to the man.
“That’s right, go and see what else we need.” Le Yao smiled.
Just then, Le Yao's old cell phone rang.
Le Yao picked it up and saw that it belonged to Han Xueqian, so she ignored it.
But the other party was clearly not giving up, and called back after the timeout period ended.
"Whose call was that?" Han Xiangdong couldn't help but ask.
"Han Xueqian's."
"Your older sister?"
"She doesn't deserve to be my sister." Le Yao laughed, looking at the persistently ringing phone, and finally answered, "Spit it out."
Han Xueqian was clearly taken aback and remained silent for a long time.
"If you don't say anything, I'm hanging up."
"Alan, Dad fell and is in the hospital now. Can you come over?" Han Xueqian took several deep breaths before she could speak calmly.
Is he dead?
“Alan, that’s your father.” Han Xueqian’s voice rose slightly. “How can you talk to him like that?”
"Does he treat me like a daughter?" Le Yao scoffed. "He seems to treat you, this burden, better than me."
“Alan,” Han Xueqian sighed, “I know you don’t like me, and I’ve never thought about improving our relationship. But, Dad is injured, and it’s only right and proper that you come to see him.”
Le Yao fell silent.
"Now it's the Orthopedics Department II at Renci Hospital." Han Xueqian gave the address. "You handle it." Then she slammed down the phone.
Le Yao was taken aback. She was always the one who hung up first. When did the other person become so assertive? She then shrugged, deciding not to care.
"Alan, is something wrong?" Liu Sujuan looked at Le Yao with some concern.
"It's alright." Le Yao shook her head. "Just take good care of my dad."
Liu Sujuan sighed. She knew that as a rural woman, she couldn't help her daughter even if she had problems. All she could do was take care of her family.
Le Yao didn't take Han Xueqian's words to heart at all. If Han Guosheng could die from the fall, it would save her a lot of trouble. But not long after, Zhou Yunmeng also called.
"Alan, he's still your father, no matter what grudges you have. I hope you can come and see him. Isn't that what you should do as a daughter?"
"Alright, I'll go over there tomorrow." Le Yao finally nodded. Han Guosheng was obviously not dead, so could she try to anger him to death?
If someone is so angry they die, they probably don't have to pay with their life, right?
