On the afternoon before the end of the May Day holiday, Han Baozhu and Liu Sujuan finally brought Shuo Shuo back.
Although he was only gone for two days, Shuo Shuo had logged into several accounts that were blacklisted compared to before he left.
In the countryside, things aren't as fussy as in the city. All the children run around in the mountains and fields. Especially when the weather gets hot, the boys are covered in sweat and mud when they go out. Shuo Shuo is no exception, but this is actually good for his condition.
Nowadays, unless there are special circumstances that trigger him, Shuo Shuo is no different from any other child.
Summer vacation is over this year, and it's time to send him back to school.
"Where's my brother?" After hugging and kissing Shuo Shuo, Le Yao realized that Han Xiangdong hadn't returned.
"Don't mention that awful thing." Liu Sujuan waved her hand. "Let me tell you, from now on, I'll pretend I never had that son." After saying that, she went straight back to her room.
"Dad?" Le Yao looked at Han Baozhu in surprise.
"When we went back and met Nie Baozhen, your mother and I both thought she was a good person. Although she wasn't particularly pretty, we were looking for a virtuous wife, weren't we?" Han Baozhu lowered his voice. "But your brother disagreed. He said she was too dark-skinned and even called her 'Black Girl,' which made her cry."
Le Yao: ...
"Too dark? How dark can it be?"
"Ahem." Han Baozhu coughed twice. "To be honest, I think it's alright. At least it's not as dark as Africans."
"Ahem." Le Yao couldn't help but cough twice. Compared to Africans? How dark would they be? "That means it's not meant to be."
“Yes.” Han Baozhu nodded. “But your mother is anxious. After all, you… never mind, because Liangzi already has a child, and he’s a year younger than your brother.”
“Dad, you have to talk to Mom. She can’t compare herself to others. Look at the city, how many men in their thirties and forties are still unmarried? Men aren’t in a hurry.”
"I said the same thing, but that old woman wouldn't listen," Han Baozhu said, shrugging.
Le Yao chuckled.
“You’re a reasonable man, so from now on, you can cook and do your own laundry.” Liu Sujuan had come out at some point and had obviously overheard this.
"Wife." Han Baozhu exchanged a glance with Le Yao, then hurriedly got up and walked to Liu Sujuan. "You're a woman, and I'm a man. Aren't we a perfect match?"
"Hmph!" Liu Sujuan turned around and walked back towards the room.
Le Yao quickly gestured to Han Baozhu to hurry inside. Once the couple was back in the house, everything would be easier to discuss.
Han Baozhu followed him back eagerly.
Le Yao smiled, then took out her phone and called Han Xiangdong. It rang twice before he answered: "Alan, my mom left me in the village. There are no more cars available. I'll go back tomorrow."
"I thought you just didn't want to come back."
“How could that be? I just told Nie Baozhen, ‘We’re not a good match. I’ve always thought of her as a younger sister,’ and then Mom got angry and left without waiting for me.”
“Mom’s still angry when she got back.” Le Yao couldn’t help but laugh. “You should be more careful in the future. I’ll have someone pick you up later.”
"No need, it's convenient for me to take a bus back. I'll arrive tomorrow at noon, and then I can just take a taxi back." Han Xiangdong was utterly helpless. He was determined never to go on blind dates again. When he looked for a girlfriend, he had to find someone he liked; otherwise, it would be settling. He was not going to settle.
