When the three kids were in junior high school, they had already started to grow taller. By the age of eleven, all three of them had already surpassed the 1.6-meter height mark.
Children of this age almost always grow taller after a short period of time apart.
Although Jiang Tong and Zhou Yuansheng are busy, they often pay attention to their children's growth and have hired a professional nutritionist to arrange their three meals a day.
However, the nutritionist doesn't live in the small apartment downstairs; she basically lives upstairs with Uncle He and the others.
As the three kids grow up, they'll spend more time upstairs, where the study is better equipped to help them focus on their studies. But if Jiang Tong and Zhou Yuansheng are home occasionally, the three of them will stay downstairs.
It's another morning.
The sky was just beginning to lighten.
Hearing a noise in the living room, Jiang Tong carefully moved Zhou Yuansheng's hand away from her waist. The man woke up almost immediately, so she could only give him a comforting kiss, "The children seem to be up. I'll go check on them and come right back."
Hearing her say that, Zhou Yuansheng finally relaxed his furrowed brows, kissed Jiang Tong's hand, and was reluctant to let her go so he could take a nap.
We've been married for so many years.
Their feelings for each other did not fade; on the contrary, they became more and more inseparable.
They even have to go on business trips together.
Their friends all laughed at them for being so lovey-dovey. Jiang Tong initially felt shy and embarrassed, but after developing a thick skin, she simply gave up.
Let them tease us.
She quite enjoys the clingy, cat-like behavior of men, or perhaps she's drawn to Zhou Yuansheng's tendency to show weakness towards her; even though they're not young anymore, they often get all lovey-dovey.
It's a little bit of fun in a relationship.
Jiang Tong tiptoed out of the room and saw Zhou Jiaqi putting on his shoes at the entrance. The young boy was wearing his school uniform and was very handsome. His eyebrows and eyes were particularly delicate, and his mixed-race features were becoming more obvious as he grew up. His features were very three-dimensional, and he was definitely the number one heartthrob at school.
But today, the well-behaved school heartthrob seemed to have something on his mind. His brows were furrowed, and his delicate features were shrouded in a layer of vexation, making him quite unhappy.
"Jiaqi? Why are you up so early? Aren't you going to eat breakfast?"
Jiang Tong glanced at the wall clock. It was only 6:10. It was still early. Besides, the three kids usually went to and from school together.
She guessed that the three kids were having a fight, but she didn't know who was fighting with whom.
As the children grew up and entered adolescence, the three kids would occasionally bicker and argue, but they usually resolved it themselves and made up quickly.
Jiang Tong and Zhou Yuansheng never interfere in their children's affairs, since it's better for children to handle their own problems than for parents to meddle.
When Zhou Jiaqi saw Jiang Tong, his expression softened, and he called out, "Mommy."
This child has never had a strong personality since childhood, unlike the decisive and efficient Zhou Yuansheng. He is sensitive and delicate, and is also a well-behaved student in the eyes of his teachers.
Jiang Tong noticed that he was in a low mood, so she went over and asked with a smile, "What's wrong?"
As she spoke, she raised her hand to touch his forehead. When a mother sees that her child is in a low mood, she always subconsciously checks whether the child is sick; it's almost an instinctive reaction.
But when she touched his forehead, he didn't have a fever. Zhou Jiaqi still looked a little aggrieved.
Jiang Tong simply sat down beside him and asked, "Is something bothering you? Do you need Mommy to help you cheer you up? Or do you just need a hug?"
When Zhou Jiaqi was little, he was very attached to Jiang Tong, but as he grew older, he learned to avoid suspicion. Jiang Tong would no longer hug or kiss him casually. At most, she would give him a hug when he was feeling down. Similarly, Zhou Yuansheng treated Hanhan and Peipei the same way. He would at most pat his two daughters on the head, and rarely even hug them. So, their family started their children's sex education quite early.
By the time the three kids were five or six years old, they already understood the difference between boys and girls, what sexual harassment was, how to keep their distance, and how to protect themselves, because this sense of propriety is something they must learn to grasp.
Zhou Jiaqi looked dejected, and later quietly confided in Jiang Tong that their school had organized a debate competition, and because he hadn't performed well, their affirmative side lost to the negative side.
He felt that he was holding Hanhan back, which then developed into an inferiority complex about whether he was not good enough, and he didn't even know how to face Hanhan.
Of the three kids, Hanhan has always been number one in academics. Jiaqi and Peipei take turns being number two and number three, respectively. Peipei is alright, though she doesn't put all her effort into studying. She has a lot of other things to do, like modeling, music, and dancing. But Jiaqi is always chasing after Hanhan, and sometimes he can't catch up and inevitably feels disappointed.
Jiang Tong felt a little embarrassed after hearing this. She couldn't understand the world of top students. Her grades used to barely pass the first-tier university entrance exam. She had no chance of getting into 985 or 211 universities. She never expected the children to be so ambitious.
I suddenly remembered that when I held a parent-teacher meeting for the children before, many parents wanted to learn from her and asked her how she raised her three children to be so outstanding.
It has consistently ranked in the top three.
Jiang Tong always says it's because the children work hard on their own, and that she and Zhou Yuansheng really haven't worried much about their children's studies, but those parents don't believe it.
However, her only wish for her children was that they be safe, healthy, and happy. So she reached out and touched Zhou Jiaqi's hair, "Oh dear, baby, what am I supposed to do when you say that? If you're not considered excellent, then what is?"
Jiang Tong's words made Zhou Jiaqi laugh. He was a little embarrassed by the praise, so Jiang Tong continued to talk to him, "No one is perfect. No one can guarantee that they are absolutely excellent. Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Daddy and Mommy just hope that you are healthy, safe, and happy."
