Chapter 18 Blinding His Dog Eyes

"Huaiyuan? Just accompany your wife shopping and don't spend too much money! Isn't Ke Rou's family very rich? Let her pay for it herself."

"Me? I was just chatting with Aunt Du downstairs. What nonsense are you talking about? I didn't say anything nonsense. Ke Rou is much better than that Jiang Tong! Of course I have to show off! Yes! I'm going to brag to the whole world about my new daughter-in-law! She's better than the last one! That bitch Jiang Tong probably thinks my son can't find a new wife!"

Wang Chungui's voice is very shrill; it sounds harsh even through a microphone.

Xu Huaiyuan frowned as he paced back and forth in front of the counter. He said with dissatisfaction, "Mom! Just shut up your smugness! Don't make a scene."

Wang Chungui on the other end of the phone was still raising her voice, "What?! So what if I show off? I hope it gets back to her ears! I just want to infuriate that Jiang Tong! I want to see who can't live without whom, even though she's old and faded and divorced!"

Because the volume was too loud, other customers nearby couldn't help but frown and look at Xu Huaiyuan, which made him quite embarrassed. He immediately took his phone and walked towards the store entrance. Although he told his mother to keep a low profile, he was secretly pleased.

After two chaotic months, no one expected that he would remarry, and his new wife was six years younger than him. He seemed quite pleased with himself.

Thinking of Jiang Tong's disheveled state at the end, he felt less reluctant to let go. He also felt embarrassed thinking about how he had fawned over Jiang Tong after the divorce. Now, seeing his life back on track and even receiving help from his new wife's family, he felt great!

Xu Huaiyuan was radiant, no longer the disheveled man he had been after the divorce. "Mom, please stop talking. Me back then? I was just not used to it. Who could be as heartless as Jiang Tong? Even though she's become a haggard housewife, I still cherish our past relationship."

He had a decent appearance, but he had a sleazy, petty demeanor about him.

Jiang Tong had just arrived nearby when she heard Wang Chungui's loud voice on the phone, which almost triggered her PTSD overreaction. Just hearing her voice was unpleasant, which shows how disgusting this former mother-in-law was.

Xu Huaiyuan also called him disgusting.

She seemed unable to reconcile her childhood sweetheart with the current Xu Huaiyuan. Her former lover was fresh and shy, while the current one was greasy and sleazy, his face swollen from gaining weight.

More importantly, it's a change in mindset. In the great melting pot of society, not many people can maintain their original aspirations, and Xu Huaiyuan's heart has indeed changed.

He became snobbish and glib, and after marriage, he became increasingly unfamiliar to Jiang Tong, as did she herself, who became unrecognizable.

Everything indicated that the two were not suited to be together, and I'm glad I made the decision to leave decisively.

Jiang Tong didn't want to run into him, because even looking at him made her feel disgusted. She took the opportunity to get off the escalator in the mall; she had come here to go shopping.

After getting married, she rarely went shopping, and she bought all her necessities online.

Not now.

Now, after finishing her commissioned writing assignments, she makes a point of going out for a stroll.

Buy yourself and your daughter some new clothes, occasionally order a cup of coffee or milk tea, or buy some books and add a few potted plants to the balcony.

Jiang Tong is trying to find "life" again, even though today was a bit unlucky as she ran into her ex-husband.

Xu Huaiyuan suddenly saw her too. As if by telepathy, he turned around and caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye, which made his heart race. While he was still in a daze, he subconsciously followed her.

Then they spotted this familiar yet unfamiliar figure—Jiang Tong, wearing a beige, modernized cheongsam with a traditional Chinese style, her long hair tied up with a hairpin. She was even wearing makeup; her eyeliner elongated her originally upturned eyes, making her look bright and playful, and her plum-colored lipstick also enhanced her complexion.

She was carrying a bag in one hand and drinking the latest milk tea in the other.

one person?

She looks even more striking than she did in college. She's lost her student-like air, and her features are more serene, giving her a beauty that transcends the mundane.

Xu Huaiyuan ignored his mother's phone call urging him to hurry up and prepare for pregnancy. He instinctively chased after her, his heart pounding in his chest.

The "thump-thump" made him feel as if he had returned to the time when he loved Jiang Tong the most. However, his running movements were a bit clumsy now. Although he exercised, his sporadic efforts had not yielded much effect.

But pursuing her is enough.

"Jiang Tong—!!"

After Xu Huaiyuan followed the escalator, he watched Jiang Tong descend and noticed her turn around. His eyes lit up and he smiled happily.

Jiang Tong's eyes were unfamiliar. This scene had happened countless times before. Xu Huaiyuan liked to call her name the moment he saw her. At first, she would be moved and then show the same smile as him.

But now her eyes were completely unmoved, and she even felt a little disgusted to see him running so breathlessly, but she didn't speed up and leave immediately.

They maintained their own pace.

Not wanting to see Xu Huaiyuan is one thing, and avoiding him is another. He doesn't deserve for her to avoid him.

Jiang Tong didn't turn back. She took out her phone to check her schedule. Next, she was going to get the small cake. Hanhan had won first place in the drawing competition, and she said she wanted to celebrate at home with Zhou Jiaqi and other new friends.

She didn't want to delay anything.

Seeing that Jiang Tong didn't react, Xu Huaiyuan immediately chased after her when the escalator landed, causing the people around to chuckle, thinking that the two were in love.

Playing this kind of chase scene.

The next second, Xu Huaiyuan grabbed Jiang Tong's hand and said happily, "Jiang Tong? What are you doing here? You've changed so much since I last saw you."

He spoke breathlessly, his eyes even gleaming with excitement.
