The two burly men holding down Qin Gong recognized Jiang Qingwan and loosened their grip slightly.
“Madam Jiang, since you’re here, let’s go inside and have a chat. Besides the silver, he also pawned a lot of other things. If you want to redeem them, you’ll need to negotiate a price with the owner.”
Jiang Qingwan looked at Qin Jiagong.
In just one night, the auspicious aura on this person vanished.
Bad luck is plaguing him; he always loses when he gambles.
She was curious about what the Qin family had that could be used as a countermeasure.
To prevent Qin Gong from becoming a gambler, she rarely added valuable items to the mansion. Even the storeroom contained only commonly used items that weren't worth much.
When Qin's father saw that she was delaying in giving him the money, he stamped his feet in frustration.
"You unfilial brat, why don't you make them let go?"
Jiang Qingwan ignored his shouting and waved to Liu'er.
"What did he pawn?"
Liu'er is very good at reading people's expressions.
Seeing that Jiang Niangzi's attitude was different from usual, fearing that she would not give him money, he immediately said, "Those are all exquisite items, jade, calligraphy and paintings, ornaments, and oh right, there is also an inkstone. The master said that only princes and ministers can afford to use them. These must be the treasures of the mansion."
Jiang Qingwan said calmly, "The Qin family doesn't have these things. Aren't you afraid of being implicated for accepting stolen goods?"
"You're talking nonsense!"
Qin's father roared angrily, his face dark.
“That was a congratulatory gift from officials when my son Minglang held a victory celebration banquet. You, a lowly divorced woman, have no taste for such things.”
“Oh…” A smile slowly bloomed on Jiang Qingwan’s lips. “If those officials knew that you had used the congratulatory gifts they sent to gamble, I wonder what they would think.”
Qin Jiagong felt uneasy and urged him in a low voice.
"You know this, so why aren't you paying up?"
Liu'er, however, was concerned with another question: "Madam Jiang, what Master Qin meant by 'a divorced woman' is..."
Jiang Qingwan raised an eyebrow slightly. "As you've heard, I'm no longer a member of the Qin family, and I won't concern myself with the money he owes. Tell your boss that some things are better left unaccepted; it's safer to exchange them for money as soon as possible. The Qin family is large and powerful, and they care about their reputation; they won't shortchange you."
After saying that, he turned and left.
When Qin's father saw that she really didn't care, he was both anxious and angry. "Come back here! As long as you give me the money, I will allow you to become a Qin family woman again."
Jiang Qingwan didn't even turn her head, and casually waved her hand.
Spoiled food, whoever wants to eat it can eat it.
Seeing that she refused, Qin Gong started cursing again.
"You'll regret this. My son doesn't want you, and no one will want you in the future, you shameless woman... Ah! Don't hit me, don't hit my face."
Two burly men dragged the man back to the casino.
Liu'er ran to Zhang Biao's room and told him what had just happened.
Those who can run a casino in the capital city are certainly aware of these things. He immediately slammed his hand on the table and said, "Let's go, take the people and the stuff, and head to the Qin residence."
...
Chaos reigned within the Qin residence.
Su Yulan sat in the main seat with a gloomy face, while Qin Minglang knelt below, bound hand and foot.
Zhang tried to stop them several times but was stopped each time. Frustrated, she sat on the ground and threw a tantrum, crying and shouting.
Qin Minglang's head was throbbing from the noise, but he dared not break free of the ropes. He crawled two steps on his knees to get closer to Su Yulan.
"Lan'er, I really didn't lie. It was Jiang Qingwan, that bitch seduced me. I... I don't know how I took off my clothes, but I swear, I really didn't touch her."
Chunmei exclaimed, "Miss, what if the young master also becomes unable to move suddenly, just like me? This Jiang Qingwan is really strange."
He was already worried that Su Yulan wouldn't believe him, so upon hearing this, Qin Minglang immediately went along with it.
"It's not that I can't move, it's that my whole body is weak. My clothes must have been torn off by that bitch. I only had the strength to break free and jump off the carriage to preserve my chastity because I was thinking of Lan'er."
Su Yulan's face was still very pale.
"Jiang Qingwan is just an orphan girl from the countryside. Does she really have the ability to immobilize a second-rank military general like you?"
Qin Run, who had been hesitant to offer any advice, suddenly asked, "Mother, could it be poison? She said the medicinal food she made for me was good for my health, but it made me vomit everything I ate. Was Father also poisoned?"
That makes sense now.
Su Yulan's expression softened slightly, and she angrily threw the ruler she was using to hit someone on the ground.
"You've been to the battlefield, how come you have no sense of vigilance? This rope can't possibly hold you? Don't play the victim with me."
Seeing that she had calmed down, Qin Minglang quickly tried to appease her.
“You are my Lan’er, my wife. If I make you angry, how dare I get up if you don’t say anything?”
Seeing that her son lacked any heroic or domineering presence, Zhang was so angry that she pounded her chest.
She had always been pampered by Jiang Qingwan, and had never suffered such humiliation.
"What a tragedy, what a tragedy! Even if my son really did that, so what? My son is the pillar of the Qin family!"
Qin Run, being very perceptive, quickly went over to help her.
"Grandmother, please don't make things worse. Father and Mother will handle it themselves. I'll help you back."
He gestured for his maid to help.
Just as they pulled the person up, they heard deafening gongs and drums coming from outside the mansion gate.
Immediately afterward, the butler rushed in, tumbling and crawling.
"It's terrible! The people from the Sifang Casino have brought you here with a bunch of thugs, demanding your money. They're shouting outside. General, you'd better go and take a look!"
Qin Minglang was so shocked by the series of provocations that he felt his vision go black.
But since he was his own father, he couldn't just ignore him, so he could only grit his teeth and look to Su Yulan for help.
Su Yulan's anger, which had just subsided, instantly flared up again. "You want money again? No way!"
