Qin Run found it hard to believe.
"He's your boss? How could that be? This is a property of the Qin family."
"The Qin family?"
The guy understood.
"The person you're talking about bought the shop; it just changed hands this morning. If you have money, come in; if not, get out."
Lian'er stomped her feet in anger upon hearing this.
“Miss, these are all shops that you have carefully managed. They were sold off in just a few days. It’s such a waste of your hard work.”
Jiang Qingwan, however, remained largely unmoved.
Whether these shops are profitable or not, Qin Minglang would know if he had just checked the accounts. He wouldn't be in such a hurry to sell them unless absolutely necessary.
It seems that Su Yulan did not help Qin's father pay off his gambling debts.
The Qin family couldn't possibly come up with that much silver.
At this moment, one of Qin Run's companions saw Jiang Qingwan standing a few steps away and immediately tugged at her arm.
"Qin Run, isn't that your stepmother?"
Qin Run immediately turned his head, and upon seeing Jiang Qingwan, a smug expression appeared on his face.
He knew that this woman simply couldn't bear not seeing him.
The reason I didn't go to the Qin residence to beg him a couple of days ago must be because I was afraid of being kicked out, which is why I came to this street to block him.
He raised his chin, looking arrogant and domineering.
"Look at the kind of people you've hired! They can't even recognize their own young master, and they dare to kick me out. I'm going to tell my father when I get back, and he'll make sure all these people you've been raising are fired."
The people surrounding Qin Run were all his classmates from the academy, who knew quite a bit about the Qin family.
They whispered among themselves upon hearing this.
"Wasn't your stepmother divorced? How come the shop assistants are still working for her? Isn't your mother, the county princess, angry?"
"Yeah, be careful she doesn't transfer you to the Imperial Academy. You've already bragged about it, if she really doesn't transfer you, you'll lose face big time."
"You said you could take any stationery you wanted here, but the shopkeeper doesn't even recognize you."
Qin Run felt embarrassed and waved his hand, "Who said I can't take whatever I want? Take whatever you want, and someone will pay the bill."
With Jiang Qingwan around, when would he ever need to worry about money?
After saying that, he snorted coldly at Jiang Qingwan and strode into the shop first.
He was certain that Jiang Qingwan would obediently follow him in to coax him.
The shopkeeper tried to stop her, but then noticed the Yunxiu brocade worth a hundred taels on Jiang Qingwan's body and withdrew his hand.
Lian'er was furious when she thought about Jiang Qingwan's sacrifices for Qin Run over the past five years.
"You ungrateful wretch, miss, let's go, ignore him."
Li Dou was more direct.
"Night Seven taught me a spot where it hurts a lot when you hit someone, and I learned it."
Lian'er asked curiously which place it was.
Jiang Qingwan didn't say anything, but walked straight to the door and looked inside.
This shop was originally a cosmetics shop, but after Qin Run entered a private school, she turned it into a bookstore. The paper, brushes, ink, and inkstones she stocked were all of the highest quality, hoping that Qin Run could use them comfortably while studying.
Unexpectedly, Qin Minglang ended up selling it to raise money to pay off his father-in-law's gambling debts.
How ironic.
Qin Run caught a glimpse of her appearing at the door, which made him even more certain. He deliberately spoke loudly, "What kind of rubbish is this? It doesn't deserve to entertain me. Bring out all your best inkstones."
The classmate standing next to him looked on with delight.
"Qin Run, these fine inkstones cost over ten taels of silver. Are you really going to give them to us for free?"
Qin Run glanced at Jiang Qingwan again.
"Of course, if you don't want it, this young master will be unhappy."
The group was overjoyed and showered Qin Run with compliments, making him so proud he was practically strutting around like a madman.
The group quickly selected their items: Xuan paper, wolf-hair brushes, inkstones, and inkstones—everything was perfect.
The shopkeeper smiled and started calculating on his abacus, rattling off the amounts.
"A total of ninety-six taels."
Qin Run scoffed.
That's all the money I have.
He grabbed two more inkstones he usually used, turned around and shouted towards the door, "What are you standing there for? Come in and pay!"
Jiang Qingwan came back to her senses, her eyes gradually darkening.
Who are you? Do we know each other?
Qin Run was stunned.
Several classmates looked at each other, then turned to look at him.
"Qin Run, what do you mean? Why doesn't she acknowledge you? Who's going to pay for it? We don't have any. If you can't afford to send her, don't call us here. We're just getting kicked out and scolded because of you."
"That's right, let's put our things down and leave."
“If I stop playing with him, he’ll start bragging.”
Young people value their reputation most, and Qin Run's face instantly turned red as he grabbed the things and stuffed them into their arms.
"Who said we're not giving them away? Take them all!"
Fearing they would be asked for money later, the classmates grabbed their belongings and ran away in a flash.
After they left, Qin Run walked towards Jiang Qingwan.
"You just came to see me and try to appease me, didn't you? Now that I've given you a chance, you embarrass me in front of my classmates. You really don't know what's good for you!"
The shop assistants, fearing he would run away, warily blocked the entrance.
Jiang Qingwan glanced at him calmly, said nothing more, and turned to leave.
Qin Run panicked.
"Where are you going? I'm telling you, I'm really getting angry, so come back right now!"
Lian'er, unable to bear it any longer, shouted at the waiter in a clear voice.
“He can turn his back on the mother who raised him for five years, and you let him take so many things. If you can’t get your money back, remember to make a scene at the Qin family’s residence in Huian District. Oh, right, he’s studying at Yulin Academy. You can take him there too and let the teachers see what kind of trash they’ve raised.”
Qin Run was so angry that he started cursing.
"You lowly servant, do you even have the right to speak here? Believe me or not, I'll give you a beating!"
Lian'er rolled her eyes, scoffed, and turned to chase after Jiang Qingwan.
