Chapter 22 The Handsome Young Marquis

Precious medicinal herbs, rare jade artifacts, weapons, and calligraphy and paintings—a dazzling array of goods.

The bidding was fierce downstairs, and Lian'er and Li Dou watched the excitement from the railing, occasionally clicking their tongues in amazement.

Even after the last item was sold, there was still no mention of Daughter's Red wine.

Lian'er turned to look at Jiang Qingwan, who was almost asleep.

"Miss, how about we go to the restaurant and ask?"

How could a restaurant possibly have thirteen-year-old Daughter's Red wine?

Jiang Qingwan stretched, got up, and walked out.

Since it's not here, let's look again.

She said she would make it up, and she definitely will.

Li Dou quickly followed. Seeing that there was still food on the table, Lian'er quickly wrapped it all up and stuffed it into her clothes, which cost a lot of money.

Because she was packing her things, she was a little late and walked in a hurry. At the corner, she bumped into a guest who was coming out of the private room. The jade bottle that the guest had just received slipped from his hand and shattered on the ground.

"my darling!"

The man was terrified and grabbed Lian'er, whose face was pale with fright. "Who are you? How dare you smash my treasure! You're asking for death!"

He raised his hand as if to hit him.

Li Dou, who was in front, had already rushed over and punched the man in the side.

It was Ye Qi who told him that the spot that hurts the most when you hit someone.

The man screamed and fell back into his private seat, slamming his fist onto the table.

The people accompanying him were all stunned on the spot. When they came to their senses, they all rushed in to help him.

"Young Master!"

Li Dou stubbornly refused to run away, angrily explaining to the people inside.

"Lian'er is fine, you mustn't hit her."

Lian'er was so anxious she was almost crying. Helplessly clutching Li Dou's clothes, she knew she had caused a huge disaster. When she saw Jiang Qingwan coming over, she knelt down on the ground with a thud.

"Miss, I didn't mean to."

The man who had been beaten had already sat up, his handsome face contorted in pain, and his magnificent blue brocade robe was stained with dirt. He shoved away the person who was helping him up, and was about to lash out when he saw Jiang Qingwan's elegant and beautiful face. Instantly, his heart raced, his eyes widened, and he forgot to say anything.

The man standing beside him was also dressed in fine clothes, pointing at Jiang Qingwan and the other two and angrily rebuking them.

"You audacious scoundrels! How dare you attack the young master of the Marquis of Weiyuan's residence! Don't you want your heads?!"

There were not many Marquises of Wu in the Great Zhou Dynasty; most of them stayed on the surrounding borders to guard the territory.

This Marquis of Weiyuan was already in his sixties. He was granted permission to take up his post in the capital. He had a son late in life, whom he spoiled rotten. The son had no intention of following in his grandfather's footsteps and joining the army. Instead, he spent his days indulging in pleasure and entertainment.

Lian'er turned ashen-faced upon hearing that she had offended such a powerful figure.

“This matter has nothing to do with them. I beg you, Young Marquis, to punish me alone.”

She kowtowed repeatedly towards the inside.

"Li Dou, help her up."

Jiang Qingwan spoke calmly, then looked at the young marquis.

“She is my maid. Since the incident has already happened, I will compensate her however I am entitled to.”

The person who spoke earlier gave a disdainful snort.

"Pay? You injured the young marquis, so you'd better twist your heads off as compensation."

He had barely finished speaking when the young marquis beside him slapped him.

"Yu Chuan, how dare you speak to such a beauty?" He bowed to Jiang Qingwan, then casually flicked his fan. "My name is Guo Hao. May I ask your name, young lady?"

Jiang Qingwan stared at his face for a moment, then looked down at the broken jade bottle.

"How much silver did you spend on this?"

Guo Hao waved his hand dismissively.

"This little thing is nothing compared to you, my beauty. As long as you accompany me to the pleasure boat for a couple of drinks, this matter will be dropped."

"Miss!"

Lian'er was anxious to stop her; she would rather die than let her young mistress suffer such humiliation.

Jiang Qingwan raised her hand to stop him, then looked at Guo Hao's brow again, "You need to avoid water today."

Gao Yuchuan laughed and egged them on.

"Young Marquis, this young lady is trying to embarrass you with those words."

Guo Hao is a womanizer, and thanks to his handsome looks and generous spending, he has never been rejected by anyone.

He immediately felt embarrassed and his face darkened.

What if I insist that you accompany me?

At this moment, Su Liuer walked over from the side, interrupting with a charming laugh.

"Oh, who has upset our young master? Tsk tsk, how did this beautiful jade vase break? A thousand taels of silver gone in a flash. In Huai Lou, whoever breaks it has to pay for it."

As she spoke, she glanced at Jiang Qingwan, her eyes revealing a cryptic, scrutinizing gaze.

"If this lady doesn't have any money..."

"One thousand taels, I'll pay."

Jiang Qingwan took out the silver notes and handed them over readily.

“My men hit you because you hit my men. If you insist on arguing about right and wrong, I will see you through to the end.”

The more composed and unassuming she was, the more excited Guo Hao became. He used his paper fan to deflect the silver notes offered to him and even deliberately rubbed his hand against Jiang Qingwan's.

"I've said it before, today you must drink with me, otherwise..."

"Is the young marquis planning to cause trouble at my Huai Lou?" Su Liuer suddenly spoke, her smile alluring, but her eyes were filled with murderous intent.

No one knows who owns Huai Lou.

However, anyone who tried to cheat or sell inferior goods at Huai Lou, or engaged in forced buying and selling, met a tragic end.

Guo Hao was about to lose his temper when Gao Yuchuan stopped him.

Although they were all from prominent families, they couldn't compare to Guo Hao's ancestral protection. The waters of Huailou were too deep; if they got into trouble, it would be difficult to clean up the mess.

“Young Marquis is magnanimous enough not to hold your clashes against you, but this punch cannot be taken for nothing.”

Li Dou stepped forward and patted his chest loudly.

"Then beat them up back."

Su Liuer covered her mouth and laughed, feeling that this method was excellent.
