Hearing Qinghui's words, Zheng Qing became even more restless.
"What does His Majesty mean? He actually wants to capture Yun Han alive!"
Song Yushu's expression was also unusually solemn.
“I’m not worried about being captured alive while besieged, but I am worried about the imperial edict. The emperor’s move is too ruthless; it’s going to destroy him outright.”
She turned to look at Qinghui.
"Did Qingwan say anything?"
Qing Sui shook her head.
"The princess sent me back first; she must have a way to leave the palace."
Zheng Qing snorted.
"The palace is heavily guarded. Even if she knows some mystical arts, she, a woman, probably wouldn't be able to get out. Moreover, I think this time, it was this woman who implicated Yun Han."
"Shut up!"
Enraged, Song Yushu twisted his ear.
"Don't let me hear you say another bad word about Qingwan, or I'll make you regret it."
Zheng Qing was unconvinced, but he knew he was in the wrong and dared not provoke him.
"What do we do now?"
Qing Sui said, "I have already notified Ye Qi and the others to go and look for him. I will also go and find out some information. If we can find the prince in advance, everything will be much easier."
Song Yushu nodded.
"Okay, go ahead."
Qinghui took her leave.
Zheng Qing said solemnly, "Madam, I will go to the palace now to sound out the Emperor's opinion."
Song Yushu shook his head.
"Didn't you hear what Qinghui said? The palace is under lockdown; you can't get in at all. Besides, the Emperor Emeritus is critically ill, and the Emperor has been suppressed for so many years; he probably can't take it anymore."
Zheng Qing slammed his fist into a nearby stone pillar in anger.
"That Mo Yunzhao is so ungrateful. If Yun Han hadn't insisted on not becoming emperor back then, he wouldn't have had the chance to ascend the throne."
Song Yushu glared at him.
"That's the emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty, how dare you say such a thing?"
Zheng Qing stiffened his neck, looking indignant.
“What is there that I dare not say? Although I am not Yun Han’s biological uncle, I am Yan Yan’s sworn brother. I know a lot about what happened between Yan Yan and the Emperor Emeritus back then. Yan Yan died for the Great Zhou, but the Emperor Emeritus couldn’t even protect her body. He also allowed Yun Han to be bullied in the palace for many years. Unfortunately, I was on the border at that time and was powerless to do anything. Now, I absolutely cannot let them harm Yun Han again.”
Song Yushu sighed.
"We can't rush this matter. Let's wait and see. If Yunhan really appears and is captured and taken to the palace, we will fight to the death."
Because of the imperial edict, the entire capital was on high alert.
The city gate had been taken over by Sun Ke's men, and a number of elite soldiers had surrounded the city wall.
He sat at a tea stall by the city gate, glancing disdainfully at Qin Minglang not far away.
Suddenly, he threw the teacup in his hand over.
"Useless! How did you brew this tea? Brew it again!"
The guard at the city gate immediately kicked Qin Minglang and fawned over Sun Ke.
"General Sun, this fellow was punished to guard the city gate and has been resentful ever since. He really needs to be taught a lesson."
He then turned and yelled at Qin Minglang, "Aren't you going to go make some tea? Do you want to get beaten up?"
Qin Minglang was filled with rage.
But there was nothing they could do but swallow their anger and go over to make tea again.
Sun Ke deliberately grabbed his wrist and pressed it onto the table, letting boiling water pour directly onto the back of his hand.
Qin Minglang screamed in pain.
This made Sun Ke burst into laughter.
"With such limited abilities, you dare to be a second-rank general? It's just a lucky break. You were exposed as soon as you returned to the capital. In my opinion, you're only fit to guard the city gates."
Qin Minglang angrily broke free.
"We're all from the Su family, what do you want?"
Snap!
Sun Ke kicked him in the stomach.
"You still have the nerve to mention the Su family? You've got some pretty clever schemes up your sleeve, hiding an illegitimate child behind the old prince's back. Now you're stuck guarding the city gates. Why didn't your illegitimate child come to your rescue?"
Qin Minglang had certainly considered going to find Qin Run, but he couldn't get into the royal villa.
He clenched his fists, enduring the pain in his stomach, and glared at Sun Ke through gritted teeth.
Sun Ke sneered.
He pointed to the teapot on the table and said to the guard, "Pour it down his throat."
The garrison commander was stunned.
If you pour that pot of hot water in, your throat will definitely get burned.
Seeing that he didn't understand, Sun Ke glanced at him sideways.
"What? You still expect him to rise to prominence and repay you in the future? It's just a pot of hot water, it won't kill him. Or are you going to oppose this general because of a useless person?"
The garrison commander was so frightened that he quickly waved his hand.
"General Sun, what are you saying? He's no longer capable of rising to prominence. He's even lost his general's title. Now he's just a lowly guard, not even qualified to carry your shoes."
As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves and picked up the teapot.
"Qin Minglang, don't blame me, it's your own fault for being so blind."
Qin Minglang was so frightened that he kept backing away, but Sun Ke's men pressed down on his shoulders and made him unable to move.
As the teapot drew closer, his eyes widened in terror, and he bit his lip and shook his head in resistance.
"stop!"
Cheng Nan jogged over, slightly out of breath.
Qin Minglang saw anyone as a savior and immediately shouted, "Father-in-law, save me!"
Sun Ke glanced at Cheng Nan with disdain.
"Another piece of trash."
Cheng Nan was used to being called useless, and he cupped his hands in a gesture of respect to Sun Ke.
"Brother-in-law, how have you been?"
Sun Ke ignored him.
Cheng Nan immediately pulled out a large stack of silver notes from his sleeve and handed them over.
"My brother-in-law is away from home all year round, working hard for the stability of the Great Zhou. This has given us merchants the opportunity to make money and live a stable life. This is a gift from your younger brother, so please don't refuse it."
