The atmosphere became silent and oppressive for a moment.
Xiao Hong seemed to sense Jiang Qingwan's feelings and suddenly leaned over to rub her big head against Jiang Qingwan's small hand.
With a hint of appeasement and reassurance.
Jiang Qingwan lowered her head and looked at Xiao Hong and Xiao Hua squatting in front of her.
"That person took away the demon fetus, but used the black cat to cause trouble everywhere. I guess the demon fetus was never born, otherwise, the black cat wouldn't be the one causing trouble."
"Night Seven said something wrong. Among cats, black cats are the most spiritually intelligent, followed by other cats. Dogs and poultry can only sense demonic energy and evil spirits, but cannot control them."
"One more thing, no black cat appeared after Qin Run's accident, which means that the black cat can't affect the living yet, at least we haven't seen any. Xiao Hua and Xiao Hong can smell the location of black cats tainted with demonic energy. Qing Sui, you and Ye Qi are good at light footwork, each of you take one and track them down. If you encounter a black cat tainted with demonic energy, have Xiao Hua and Xiao Hong absorb it. If it harms civilians or if zombies appear..."
She thought about it.
He pulled out several talismans from his pouch at his waist.
He bit his fingertip and used his blood to draw a talisman.
"This is a spirit-binding array. If you encounter a zombie, stick it to the center of its forehead."
She drew several more, and her face had turned somewhat pale.
Mo Yunhan raised his hand to stop him, feeling sorry for him.
"Use my blood."
Jiang Qingwan glanced at him.
“The Spirit Binding Array is different from ordinary talismans; it requires pure spiritual energy, and this matter cannot be taken lightly.”
Moreover, it wasn't her who used the talisman; it was Ye Qi and Qing Sui, two people who had never cultivated before, so there couldn't be any impurities involved.
They each gave four questions.
Jiang Qingwan then gave up.
"That should be enough, you can go now."
Ye Qi and Qing Sui went to pick them up separately.
Mo Yunhan, however, snatched the talisman from Qing Sui's hand first.
"In terms of lightness skill, they can't compare to me. I'll take Xiaohua with me. Qingsui, protect your princess."
After saying that, he patted Xiaohua's head lightly and walked away without looking back.
Xiao Hong leaped onto Ye Qi's head and shoulder, slapping his face with her fox paw. The message was clear: hurry up and leave, don't delay.
Ye Qi's neck was bent over from being pressed down.
"I'll tolerate you, but don't pee on me, or I'll never forgive you."
The two, one human and one fox, chattering away, caught up with Mo Yunhan.
Qing Sui pursed her lips.
"Your Highness, I feel like His Highness is angry."
Jiang Qingwan watched the departing figure, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"I might... be eating pig liver again."
Lian'er burst out laughing.
"Qinghui, the prince feels sorry for the young lady, but he can't go against her wishes, so he can only sulk."
Qing Sui understood.
Pointing to the corpses on the ground, he asked, "Should we throw these two things back into the mass grave?"
Jiang Qingwan nodded, "I was just about to go take a look, so take him with me."
The four quickly arrived at the secluded mass grave.
Looking at the white bones and half-rotten corpses at the bottom of the pit, Jiang Qingwan gently shook her head.
His gaze drifted toward the distant palace, a symbol of imperial power and wealth.
"Who would have thought that just miles behind the majestic palace walls would lie a field of bones?"
Li Dou threw the two female corpses back into the pit.
"Miss, shall we burn it?"
"Burn it."
Jiang Qingwan nodded.
She raised her hand to make Lian'er and Qing Sui stand back. Spiritual energy gathered at her fingertips as she drew layers of golden talismans. A low voice escaped her lips as she chanted the Rebirth Mantra.
Flames began to rise.
They were then bound in the pit by golden talismans.
A surge of resentment, carrying the bitterness and hatred of its past life, yet unable to gain any strength due to the lack of spiritual energy around it, gradually gained some power within the Rebirth Mantra, roaring as it tried to vent its pent-up emotions.
The golden talisman suppressed everything, gradually dissolving all the roars and wisps of resentment.
A breeze rose from the pit.
It vanished without a trace along with the golden light.
Lian'er suddenly murmured, "Miss, I think I heard someone crying."
Jiang Qingwan had already turned and walked out.
Hearing this, he chuckled and explained, "People are reluctant to part when they die, and so is their souls. Let them cry a few times."
Lian'er felt a chill run down her spine upon hearing this.
"Are there really ghosts?"
She rubbed her arms and quickly chased after him.
Li Dou and Qing Sui covered the flames with soil before leaving together.
The four had just returned to the Prince's mansion.
Mo Qingrui, who was talking to Song Yushu in the courtyard, came up and knelt down in front of Jiang Qingwan with red and swollen eyes.
"Aunt Jiu, please save Jiang Zhao! He's just a poor, pedantic scholar who doesn't even dare to kill a chicken, how could he possibly kill someone?"
Fearing that Jiang Qingwan would be put in a difficult position, Song Yushu quickly stepped forward and helped her up.
“Princess Qinghui, Wan’er doesn’t know anything yet, so don’t frighten her. Let’s go to the pavilion and talk, and we’ll all think of a solution together.”
He gestured with his eyes as he spoke.
Yu Ying immediately dismissed everyone.
Lian'er and Li Dou returned to the main hall first, leaving Qing Sui to guard the outside of the pavilion.
Inside the pavilion, Song Yushu personally brewed tea.
Mo Qingrui simply didn't have the patience to drink it.
“Sister Song, Aunt Xiao Jiu, I really have no other choice. The Empress Dowager is in mourning, and the Emperor will never see me. The Wang family has already run to the palace gate to cry. That old lady Wang is almost eighty years old. She was kind to the Empress Dowager back then. Maybe she can get an imperial edict to be issued and directly cut off Jiang Zhao's head. By then, even if it is proven that he is not the murderer, it will be too late.”
Song Yushu handed hot tea to Jiang Qingwan and Mo Qingrui.
“Take a breath first. This matter cannot be rushed. Liu Ruzhi is a reasonable and good official. If there are any doubts, he will not easily issue a judgment. Even if the Emperor issues an imperial edict, he will still ask about the case and look at the evidence. We can’t let the old lady of the Wang family cry a few times and then kill the dignified Prince Consort.”
These words, however, did not appease Mo Qingrui.
“Sister Song, you don’t understand, that’s the difficulty. Liu Ruzhi examined the body and meticulously investigated the scene. All the evidence and clues point to Jiang Zhao. Moreover, everyone in the Wang family can testify that when Chief Physician Wang was murdered, only Jiang Zhao and he were in the tea room; there was absolutely no third person present. These case reports have already been taken by the Wang family. If the Emperor sees Old Madam Wang and reads the reports, this…”
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face again.
Song Yushu was at a loss for words.
She knew Liu Ruzhi well and knew she would never bend the law for personal gain.
If he can't find any evidence, the only possibility is that Jiang Zhao really did kill someone.
Jiang Qingwan took a few sips of tea and gently placed the teacup on the table.
"Princess Qingrui, is it true that Jiang Zhao didn't kill anyone?"
Mo Qingrui turned to look at her anxiously.
Upon meeting Jiang Qingwan's clear, cold eyes, his heart suddenly skipped a beat.
His expression froze on his face.
Jiang Qingwan asked again, "Did Jiang Zhao tell you himself that he didn't kill anyone? Or did you rely on your marital relationship to be so sure that he didn't kill anyone?"
She did not assume ill will towards others.
She just wanted Mo Qingrui to set aside her personal opinions and speak frankly about things, so that she could judge whether to help or not.
