Mo Yunhan changed out of his black robe.
Wearing a blue scholar's robe embroidered with bamboo patterns, he softened all his sharp edges and gained a more refined and elegant air.
Hearing this, she smiled slightly.
"A pill refiner who can actually summon spirits?"
Qi Huang felt agitated.
"What does this have to do with you? Is the Prince here just passing by, or am I being overly suspicious?"
Mo Yunhan raised his finger and pointed into the courtyard.
"What a coincidence! I came here to buy medicine, but I didn't expect to see another skill of Alchemist Feng Jiu."
Qi Huang rolled her eyes at him, unwilling to speak to him anymore.
Mo Yunhan then said,
"After leaving the palace, I learned about what happened to Alchemist Feng Jiu before she entered the palace. She was kidnapped to Chunxiang Courtyard when she had nowhere to go. She happened to meet the father of the Imperial Concubine, and she happened to offer him elixirs, which the Emperor found out about. Even the storytellers in the east of the city wouldn't dare to write a story like this."
Qi Huang glanced at him.
"It's just such a coincidence. If Your Highness thinks I have a problem, you may report to the Emperor and have my head chopped off."
Mo Yunhan looked her up and down, but said nothing more.
He didn't leave; he just stared at her.
It made her feel uneasy, and she didn't know where to put her arms.
But the other person said they were there to buy medicine, so she had no right to kick them out.
The time it takes for an incense stick to burn is extremely agonizing.
When the courtyard gate was opened again, she rushed in almost without thinking.
With others around, she was finally able to breathe more easily.
Old Cai had clearly been crying; he wiped his eyes and didn't think much of the person who had suddenly appeared.
I thought the two of them were together.
He walked up to Qi Huang and bowed respectfully.
"Thank you for fulfilling my last wish, young lady. I will go and get you the bamboo now."
Qi Huang stopped him and turned to look at Mo Yunhan.
"Didn't you also come asking for medicine? Tell me, what do you want?"
Mo Yunhan smiled faintly, "The same as you."
Old Cai looked the two of them up and down, then suddenly shook his head.
Thinking of her daughter who had attempted suicide, and those painful memories, she couldn't help but advise, "To be able to find a kindred spirit in this world is a blessing. Don't miss out, or you'll regret it later."
He sighed after saying that and went inside.
Qi Huang didn't hear what he said at all.
He just frowned and stared at Mo Yunhan.
"You also want Renzhu? What for?"
Mo Yunhan had no idea what Renzhu was.
He blurted out, almost as if possessed, "It's what my queen wants."
Qi Huang's heart skipped a beat, and her voice grew even colder.
"I'm afraid I'll disappoint the princess. Old Master Cai has already agreed to give me the Renzhu. Go look for it elsewhere."
Mo Yunhan was curious.
What exactly is Renzhu?
Just then, Old Man Cai came out of the inner room, carrying a wooden box in his hand.
As soon as he got closer, he smelled a strong stench of blood.
Qi Huang immediately took the box, opened it, and checked its condition.
The entire bead has been nurtured to a reddish hue, is in excellent condition, and is quite valuable.
She stuffed all the silver she had gotten from the emperor into his hands.
"I won't take it for free, please keep it."
After saying that, she prepared to leave.
But Old Man Cai called out to her.
He took another box out of his pocket and handed it over.
"Here, you can have this."
He opened the box,
There were two stones inside.
It has been carved into the shape of a seal, but no words have been engraved on it.
"These are the two pieces of bloodstone I found for my daughter, cut from a single, complete piece. I intended to give them to her when she found a good husband, but I never expected..."
The daughter was fierce and resentful of being confined at home by her father. When she heard that her lover was about to get married, she felt even more strongly that it was her father's obstruction that prevented the two from being together.
She fled in rage, only to witness her lover marrying another man.
She watched as her lover made vows of eternal love in her direction.
She thought that her lover had no choice but to make a vow with her that they would not share a bed in life but would be buried together in death, and then he turned around and threw himself into the river.
They offered their souls as a sacrifice.
But the truth is, the lover never intended to marry her.
Many years after her death, people have had children and are living happily ever after; they no longer remember her suffering.
Thinking of this, Old Man Cai couldn't help but burst into tears.
He stuffed the two stones into Mo Yunhan's hand, turned around, went back to his room, and closed the door.
Soon after, sorrowful cries could be heard from inside.
Extremely repressed.
Qi Huang suppressed the question she wanted to ask and glanced at the grave.
There was no sign of life on the grave.
Only that set of clothes remained, burned to ashes.
She frowned slightly.
He turned and walked out.
Mo Yunhan tossed the two stones around and then followed them out.
"This thing..."
Qi Huang didn't stop walking, coldly interrupting, "I will not give Renzhu to you. Forget about it."
The carriage we came in was waiting outside the alley; it was a bit of a walk from there.
Mo Yunhan followed closely behind.
Holding up two stones, he tried to explain.
The auntie who had given me directions earlier joked with a smile.
"Oh my, young lady, is this your husband? He's quite handsome."
Qi Huang stumbled and almost fell, hurriedly waving her hands.
"I don't know her."
Mo Yunhan clenched the stone in his palm without saying a word.
Once they reached a secluded spot, they chased after him for a couple more steps.
"Wait a moment."
Qi Huang was very unhappy.
"I don't care who you are. I asked for this Renzhu on behalf of the Emperor. If you dare to covet it again, don't blame me for reporting you to the Emperor."
Mo Yunhan raised the two stones in his hand.
The meaning of the laugh was ambiguous.
