Seeing the two talking, Chunmei bowed and withdrew, instructing the kitchen to prepare a meal, and then went to the storeroom herself.
But after searching for a long time, she still couldn't find the shop's land deed. She knew something was wrong and immediately turned back.
“Princess, something terrible has happened! The shop deeds are not in the storeroom, but I personally sorted them out when you first arrived at the manor.”
Qin Run was just about to leave when he heard this and his expression changed.
After being angered by Jiang Qingwan when he bought inkstones at the bookstore last time, he went to Qin Minglang to ask about the shop.
But Qin Minglang scolded him, saying that children are not allowed to meddle in adult matters.
But he wasn't stupid; he already knew that Qin Minglang had sold the shop.
But to his surprise, Su Yulan was unaware of this matter.
What did Qin Minglang do with the money he got from selling the shop?
Could it be that it was given to that slut Jiang Qingwan?
He was angry at his father for his lack of ambition and for not being able to see who the Qin family would rely on in the future, but he didn't dare to say anything at the moment and quickly cupped his hands in greeting.
"Mother, I have to go to the Imperial Academy for morning study, so I won't be able to have lunch with you."
Su Yulan was thinking about the shop when she heard this and waved him away.
After Qin Run left, Chunmei said anxiously, "Princess, could it be that Qin's father stole the land deeds to gamble? He even stole Zhang's private savings."
Su Yulan snorted coldly with a sullen face.
“He doesn’t have that kind of guts. After dinner, I’ll go to the shop myself and see who’s been tampering with me behind my back.”
...
In the alley outside the backyard of the Ninth Prince's Mansion, a black carriage stopped at the entrance.
The groom, wearing a felt hat, knocked on the door. After a short while, Li Dou opened the door, looked at him, and asked, "Who are you? What brings you here?"
The coachman peeked inside and spotted Jiang Qingwan drinking porridge in the pavilion. He immediately called out, "Madam Jiang, someone has asked you to go somewhere. They've sent me to fetch you."
Jiang Qingwan paused, then turned her head to look at the doorway.
Lian'er was surprised.
"Miss, are you going out? Let me tidy up."
Jiang Qingwan shook her head gently, remembering what Mo Yunhan had promised her last night.
"No need, I'll go myself. You and Li Dou don't need to come along."
Most of the war records were stored in the Ministry of War.
It was already inconvenient for her to go in given her status, let alone bring maids and servants.
She finished her porridge, wiped her mouth with a handkerchief, had Lian'er fetch a dark cloak and fasten it, and then went out.
The driver respectfully arranged the footrests and then attentively lifted the curtain for her.
Once she was on the carriage, she immediately sat on the side of the carriage shaft, raised her whip, and hurriedly left.
Beneath the brim of his hat, however, gleamed with calculated smugness in his eyes.
...
On the other side, Mo Yunhan returned to his residence after the morning court session. After changing out of his court robes, he prepared to go to the backyard to find Jiang Qingwan.
As soon as I stepped out of the room, I saw Song Yushu walking over with Yu Ying and Yu Tao, his expression solemn.
"Aunt," he nodded in greeting.
Song Yushu waved for Yu Ying and Yu Tao to stop at a distance, then pulled Mo Yunhan into the inner hall.
Are you going out?
"Yes, it's some personal business."
Mo Yunhan didn't mention Jiang Qingwan. Seeing that Song Yushu's expression was off, he asked again, "What happened? Aunt, please tell me directly."
Song Yushu sighed softly.
"Before you get busy, accompany your aunt to visit Xiaoran."
Mo Yunhan frowned slightly.
"She made a scene with you because of the refusal to marry? Very well, I will explain things to her."
Song Yushu reached out to stop him.
"Let's go to the backyard and call Qingwan along."
“This has nothing to do with Jiang Qingwan.” Mo Yunhan’s voice was slightly somber.
During our conversation last night, that woman said she wanted to roam the world freely.
From the first time he met her until now, he could see that she was resistant to many things, including the power struggles in the imperial court and the inner quarters.
His relationship with Yun Xiaoran involved the Empress Dowager, and she shouldn't have been implicated in the first place.
Song Yushu was extremely anxious, and he lowered his voice.
"Only Jiang Qingwan can cure Xiaoran's illness. If something happens to Xiaoran, the Empress Dowager will definitely use this as an opportunity to blame the Prince's Mansion. Whether you are willing to marry Xiaoran or not, it will be difficult to end the situation."
She was quite agitated, and her chest heaved up and down.
“Yun Han, I went to the palace to see the Empress Dowager yesterday. If you really want to protect Jiang Qingwan, you need to think this over carefully and not be forceful.”
Mo Yunhan frowned even more deeply.
"Is Xiaoran sick?"
Song Yushu let out another long sigh.
"I fell ill after leaving that day. I thought it was because I couldn't bear the blow and was depressed. I went to see her yesterday and she was very ill. The people in the county princess's mansion all gave the same story, saying that Qingwan was the one who caused it. The Empress Dowager has also heard the news."
Mo Yunhan was well aware of the implications.
He pondered for a moment.
"I'm going to visit the county princess's residence."
"I'll go with you."
Song Yushu had already asked Jiang Qingwan for help but was rejected, and knew he couldn't persuade her. Now he could only hope that Mo Yunhan would see Yun Xiaoran's situation and then personally go to invite her.
The two quickly took a carriage to the county magistrate's residence.
Upon hearing that Mo Yunhan had arrived, Yun Xiaoran immediately covered her face with the blanket.
But Mo Yunhan still saw her sallow and emaciated face, and was greatly surprised.
From under the covers came Yun Xiaoran's soft sobs, mournful and aggrieved.
"Brother Yunhan, please stop appearing in my dreams. If you won't marry me, why torture me like this? I'm in so much pain, I wish I could go with my sister, rather than stay in this world all alone, suffering and feeling like I'm living a life worse than death."
A chilly wind swirled through the hall.
The beads hanging from Mo Yunhan's waist suddenly flickered, and the wind stopped instantly.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Granny Li knelt on the ground, raising half of her bruised and blackened arm and crying out.
