Chapter 72 Imperial Edict Granting Marriage

The agonizing time of an incense stick's burning has finally passed.

Black blood gushed from the wound on Mo Yunhan's shoulder again, but it quickly turned red again.

The sensation of pain, pleasure, and tingling also disappeared.

Jiang Qingwan leaned closer to take a look and nodded with satisfaction.

"The poison has been forced out. My talisman is indeed invincible."

His raised eyebrows revealed a hint of barely concealed pride.

Lively and adorable.

"I'll have Ye Qi come over and bandage you up."

She turned to get out of the car, but Mo Yunhan grabbed her wrist.

"Give me the bag."

Through the thin veil, the temperature of the man's palm was just as hot as the temperature of his lips brushing against hers.

Jiang Qingwan struggled to hide.

"I was injured while saving you."

Jiang Qingwan gave him a disdainful look after hearing this.

"The Bagua mirror hanging around Ye Qi's neck couldn't be pierced by those short arrows, do you think I wouldn't be able to do something?"

The man frowned.

"So why did you give it to him but not to me?"

Jiang Qingwan choked.

It's said that his destiny is special, and ordinary magical artifacts have no effect on him at all.

But then he changed his mind before he could say it.

"It's none of your business who I give it to. You can't even handle Yun Xiaoran's affairs properly, yet you want to interfere with mine? Let go."

Taking advantage of the man's momentary lapse in attention, she forcefully pulled her arm back.

A bright yellow scroll was pulled from the man's sleeve, rolled to the ground, and unfurled beside her embroidered shoes.

"...Jiang is gentle and graceful, with a kind and gentle nature..."

A large hand quickly picked up the scroll and stuffed it back into his sleeve. He looked extremely uncomfortable and stopped bothering her to bandage it. He lowered his head and began to tear off the white robe he was wearing underneath, clumsily treating the wound with one hand.

However, because the position was on the shoulder close to the chest, it was impossible to tie it with one hand. He tried twice but failed, so he simply put a piece of white cloth on it and prepared to gather the clothes together.

Jiang Qingwan did not help anyone from beginning to end.

The poison has been neutralized. Someone with such great merit won't die from bleeding.

She crossed her arms and looked at him coldly.

After dressing, Mo Yunhan ordered in a deep voice, "Ye Qi, return to the manor."

Ye Qi responded, and the carriage quickly started moving.

After a while, Jiang Qingwan finally couldn't hold back and kicked the man's shin in anger.

Give me the things.

Mo Yunhan's dark eyes then turned to her.

Are you sure you want it?

"certainly!"

Jiang Qingwan clearly saw her own name; how could she not understand what the scroll was?

Mo Yunhan looked troubled, yet seemed unable to refuse her. After a moment's hesitation, he pulled a scroll from his sleeve and handed it over.

"Jiang Qingwan, here you go."

The last word was spoken very softly, and the tone was somewhat strange.

Jiang Qingwan was eager to see clearly, so without thinking much, she immediately reached out and took the scroll, fully unrolling it.

After watching it, I was completely stunned. My head was buzzing, feeling both empty and confused.

This was actually an imperial edict bestowing a marriage upon someone.

It was stamped with the imperial seal of the Great Zhou Dynasty.

The betrothal was between her and Mo Yunhan.

Moreover, she was the principal wife.

For a moment, she didn't know whether to say that the emperor had lost his mind or to curse Mo Yunhan for going mad and wanting to marry her, a divorced woman.

The man leaned back leisurely in the carriage, watching her expression change repeatedly, his heart not as calm as it appeared.

An eerily quiet atmosphere prevailed.

In the quiet, they could both hear each other's heartbeats.

After a while, Jiang Qingwan took a deep breath, rolled up the scroll, and looked up at him coldly.

What are you trying to do to me?

Mo Yunhan's eyes widened slightly in surprise.

He didn't intend to tell her about it so soon.

If the retired emperor and empress dowager do not take any action, he can pretend that this imperial edict never existed.

He had also wondered what Jiang Qingwan's reaction would be if she saw the imperial decree of marriage.

But he never expected her to ask him so calmly what he was scheming about.

It seems that she can see through the seemingly bustling and lively surface of everything and immediately get to the heart of the matter.

He was indeed scheming against her.

But marrying him didn't seem to bring her any joy.

Mo Yunhan's heart sank, and he said, "The Empress Dowager is investigating the Yun family. Yun Xiaoran insists that you harmed her. Your abilities can no longer be hidden. Once you become the Ninth Prince's consort, I can protect you."

Jiang Qingwan stared at him with clear, cold eyes, without saying a word.

Mo Yunhan continued, "I know you are very capable, but this is the capital, not the martial arts world. Under the rules, with the imperial power above, no one can act freely."

"As for scheming, this imperial decree of marriage was obtained by me. I do not want to marry Yun Xiaoran, nor do I want to be forced by the Emperor Emeritus to marry the daughter of a court official, which would arouse the Emperor's suspicion and destabilize the court."

He paused, then looked up into Jiang Qingwan's beautiful eyes.

"Why did I choose you? Because of the rumors circulating in the capital. I went along with them, and they seemed more credible."

Everything was so logical that Jiang Qingwan couldn't find a single flaw.

But all the explanations annoyed her, and she threw the imperial edict back at him.

"I defy the imperial decree."

Mo Yunhan seemed to have anticipated her reaction, and said calmly, "I asked you if you wanted it, and you confirmed that you wanted it and accepted the imperial decree."

Jiang Qingwan remembered his earlier words, "receive," which actually meant "receive the imperial decree!"

He immediately felt even more annoyed.

"How would I know it was an imperial decree bestowing a marriage upon me!"

The man calmly put away the imperial edict.

"This decree was requested by me. If you are truly unwilling, I will have no choice but to remove my crown, enter the palace to apologize, and face death. You need not feel guilty or concerned."
