Sun Ke and Mo Shaojun both saw it.
Both of them looked completely bewildered.
Mo Yunhan was covered in blood, and his face looked extremely pale.
Looking down from above, Mo Shaojun was like looking at a dead man.
"The idea of massacring the village was Su Weichuan's idea, wasn't it? Mo Shaojun, you are a prince of the Great Zhou. Even if you cannot ascend the throne in the future, you will still be a pillar of the state. Do you still have even a little bit of concern for the people of the Great Zhou in your heart?"
Mo Shaojun was completely flustered.
“Ninth Prince, I didn’t. I really didn’t send anyone else to slaughter other villages. It was Father Emperor’s idea to bring troops to Xiahe Village.”
Jiang Qingwan stepped forward and grabbed Mo Yunhan's sleeve to check.
Are you injured?
Mo Yunhan shook his head.
His tone was unusually heavy.
"We arrived a bit late; many people were killed or injured in the village."
The village chief was alarmed upon hearing this.
"Someone's dead? My God, what... what on earth is going on?"
Mo Yunhan looked at everyone.
Where is the doctor?
Dr. Yu immediately came out with his medicine box on his back.
"I can go and treat my injuries, but I don't have many medicinal herbs on me."
Mo Yunhan thought for a moment and said, "Uncle, take out all the wound medicine you have on you, and help as much as you can."
Zheng Qing nodded.
They gathered all the usable medicinal herbs and gave them to Doctor Yu.
Mo Yunhan patted Jiang Qingwan's hand.
"You should rest well, I'll take him there."
Jiang Qingwan shook her head.
“I’ll go with you. If you’re bleeding too much, wound medicine won’t be able to cure it.”
Mo Yunhan frowned deeply.
"Can you handle it?"
Jiang Qingwan smiled gently.
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
...
The Su family mansion in the capital
Inside the Buddha Heart Hall.
Su Weichuan, with his gray hair disheveled, stood within the formation and attempted it for the ninth time.
Yet, not a trace of death energy gathered within the jar in front of them, which was covered with talismans.
He was like a madman, holding the jar and looking at the sky, questioning it over and over again.
"How can there be no death aura?"
"Why is there no death aura?"
Just then, the old servant came in from outside, carrying a black carrier pigeon in his hand.
"Master, a letter has arrived from Xiahe Village. The Third Prince has been captured, and our men were wiped out by the Ninth Prince and his men while they were massacring nearby villages."
"They're all dead?"
Su Weichuan's eyes widened, his bloodshot eyes appearing ferocious and terrifying in the dark night.
"If they're all dead, why is there no death aura? Tell me why there's no death aura."
The old servant's eyes were filled with heartache.
"Master, you should rest now."
Su Weichuan seemed not to hear him at all, and his ferocious eyes suddenly lit up.
"I know, it's Jiang Qingwan. It must be Jiang Qingwan who sealed the death energy. How could she be so damned? She stole my Heart of the Sea Dragon, and now she's stopping me from getting any death energy. She deserves to die!"
He became emotional, his internal injuries flared up, and he clutched his chest, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
The formation was completely destroyed.
The old servant quickly helped him up.
“Master, General Sun Ke accompanied the Third Prince to Xiahe Village. This matter concerns the Su family. You should rest well and think about how to deal with this matter first.”
The mad ferocity in Su Weichuan's eyes gradually faded.
He gave a cold, indifferent twitch at the corner of his mouth and smiled silently.
"The Su family deserved it all; these debts should have been paid long ago."
...
That night, almost no one slept a wink.
Jiang Qingwan was forced to lie on the recliner by Mo Yunhan and managed to sleep for an hour.
As dawn broke, she opened her eyes.
"Sleep a little longer, no rush to go back to Beijing."
Mo Yunhan supported her shoulders, his eyes bloodshot.
A man-made plague averted an assassination attempt by the royal family, but the price was innocent villagers.
His heart felt heavy, as if weighed down by a stone.
Jiang Qingwan raised her hand, her cool fingertips touching his brow.
"The cause and effect originate from you, but you shouldn't have to bear the consequences. Relax and do what you feel you should do. There's no point in getting caught up in these emotions."
Mo Yunhan felt a tightness in his chest.
He nodded heavily upon hearing this.
"good."
Jiang Qingwan helped him stand up.
He waved and summoned the village chief.
"Let's go check if the well is safe."
The village chief was instructing people to set up a pot at the gate of the courtyard, where steaming hot rice porridge was being cooked. The aroma of the rice dispelled the stench of blood that had lingered all night.
"Your Highness, please eat something before you go. The water used to cook the porridge is from those two mouthfuls of water that were not infected."
Jiang Qingwan waved her hand.
She had no appetite at all.
I just want to finish this business quickly and go home to sleep.
"No need."
Mo Yunhan accompanied her to inspect the well.
The morning air in the countryside was not as fresh as it used to be; it was mixed with the lingering smell of fire and the lingering stench of blood.
Fortunately, Jiang Qingwan moved the heavy rain away; otherwise, the surrounding area would have turned into a living hell.
After the examination, Jiang Qingwan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fortunately, the remediation was timely, and there was no problem with the groundwater. The plague has been resolved."
The village chief was overjoyed, tears streaming down his face.
"Thank you, Your Highness. Thank you, Your Highness."
As he spoke, he knelt down on the ground with a thud.
"Your Highness, Your Highness, regarding the plight of Xiahe Village and Shitou Village, especially Shitou Village, I have spoken with the village chief and we intend to go to the capital with you to demand an explanation. I hope Your Highness and Your Highness will grant our request."
As the village head, he wasn't deliberately causing trouble.
Instead, they knew that if this matter was suppressed by the powerful figures in the capital and caused no disturbance, a surprise attack might occur soon.
