Jiang Qingwan returned to the backyard of the Prince's Mansion and began to catch up on sleep. She was half asleep when she was awakened by the noise outside.
"You can't go in!"
"The owner of this mansion allowed us to stay here; we did not trespass."
"Li Dou!"
"How can you hit people like that!"
Lian'er's voice grew increasingly urgent.
Jiang Qingwan quickly put on an outer garment, pushed open the door, and went out.
The once quiet courtyard was now filled with people.
The earthen urn that Li Dou had just built up was kicked over.
Covered in mud, he was wrestling with someone.
Lian'er stretched out her arms to block the front of her bedroom. Facing her was a stern-faced maid who simply told her to move aside without making a move.
"Lian'er".
She called out softly.
All eyes turned to that direction.
The maid who had been confronting Lian'er immediately stepped back when she came out, and a graceful young girl in green helped a dignified and noble woman step forward.
The woman had striking features and a solemn expression. She was none other than Song Yushu, the maternal aunt of Ninth Prince Mo Yunhan, who had raised him since childhood and held a very high position in the household.
Song Yushu looked Jiang Qingwan up and down with a sharp expression.
Her clothes were disheveled, her hair was loose, she had a soft waist and a voluptuous chest, and she possessed a natural allure; she was clearly not a respectable woman.
Having grown up in the military, she had the utmost contempt for those who sold their bodies for a meager meal. She immediately asked in a cold voice, "What's your name? What's your relationship with the prince?"
Jiang Qingwan also sized her up. This person had a bright forehead and was full of righteousness, but the aura of good fortune between her brows was sometimes strong and sometimes weak.
"The Prince's aunt is a first-rank noblewoman personally bestowed by the Emperor, and also the mistress of this Prince's mansion. Why don't you quickly bow and respond!"
A sharp shout interrupted her thoughts.
She looked at the girl in green standing next to the noblewoman.
She was seventeen or eighteen years old, with a pretty face and her hair styled in two flowing buns adorned with the finest gilded hairpins.
Despite being adorned with jewels, she couldn't conceal the fierce look between her brows, nor the deep-seated resentment emanating from her, a dark aura that had been lingering for years.
She didn't point it out, but turned her gaze back to Song Yushu and nodded slightly.
"My name is Jiang Qingwan, and my relationship with Mo Yunhan..."
She was pondering what kind of relationship the two had when the girl in green sharply interrupted her.
"How dare you! How dare you address the Prince by his given name!"
Jiang Qingwan pursed her lips. This woman had been full of hostility from the moment she saw her, and was really unlikable.
She ignored it and glanced casually to the side.
"Li Dou, stop."
Li Dou was extremely strong, and ordinary guards could not subdue him at all.
He shoved the person aside menacingly, walked up to Jiang Qingwan covered in mud, and angrily began to complain.
"Miss, they've ruined my earthenware jar, so I can't make grilled fish now."
Lian'er hurriedly tried to pull him away.
"Don't speak!"
Jiang Qingwan, however, did not take it seriously. She glanced at the collapsed earthen urn and gently comforted Lian'er, "Lian'er, add some water and mix the mud again to repair the urn."
"Yes, Miss."
Lian'er agreed and pulled Li Dou to leave.
"stop!"
Yun Xiaoran's pretty face darkened with anger at being completely ignored, but she tried her best to maintain her dignified and noble appearance.
"How dare you trespass into the Prince's mansion's backyard and even start a fire to grill fish! Every flower here is carefully cultivated and cherished by the Prince. You can't afford to compensate for even one of them if you lose one! If you don't want to be punished, tell the truth. Otherwise, your maternal aunt and I will not let you off lightly."
Another county princess?
Jiang Qingwan already disliked her for the bloodshed she had committed, and upon hearing this, she became even more displeased.
"My maid has already told me why I'm here. If you don't believe me, you can ask Mo Yunhan. Since you know these flowers are precious, don't make a scene here and tarnish your dignity as a county princess!"
Yun Xiaoran was speechless, her face filled with disbelief.
How dare a vixen speak to her like that?
Could it be that this woman really has a relationship with Mo Yunhan... that's why she's so arrogant and spoiled?
No!
Absolutely not!
Her brother Yunhan would never touch a woman like that.
“Madam,” she suppressed her anger and immediately turned to Song Yushu, giving a gentle bow, “Although this is the backyard of the Prince’s mansion, we cannot be careless. If some messy rumors spread, wouldn’t that damage the Prince’s reputation?”
Song Yushu already had a bad impression of Jiang Qingwan, and upon hearing this, he held Yun Xiaoran's hand tenderly and patted it.
"My Xiaoran is the most sensible. No wonder she was personally raised by the Empress Dowager."
She looked up at Jiang Qingwan again, her tone cold and stern.
"You look charming, but I didn't expect you to be so sharp-tongued. I dislike that the most. Regardless of your relationship with Yun Han, since he entrusted me with the affairs of the Prince's mansion, I have a responsibility to manage them properly. You can't stay here. Guards, take them out!"
A smug glint flashed in Yun Xiaoran's eyes, and she immediately looked at the old woman beside her.
The old woman had been with her since childhood and understood immediately, so she nodded to her.
Yun Xiaoran obediently helped Song Yushu and said, "Auntie, you've had a bumpy journey. Let me help you back to the main courtyard to rest. You can leave these things to the servants."
"Alright."
Just as the two turned to leave, they suddenly heard a shrill scream behind them.
For some reason, the old woman had several silver needles stuck in her arm, which she held stiffly, her face pale with pain.
Yun Xiaoran's eyes darted around, and she shouted urgently, "What did you do to Granny Li? Your aunt is kind-hearted and only asked you to leave, yet you resorted to such cruelty! You are too heartless!"
Song Yushu's face also darkened.
"Who gave you the audacity to run wild in the backyard of the Prince's mansion!"
