Chapter 373 Betrayal

When Lu Jianming heard that Lu Shen had led his men to investigate the loan sharks, he knew that in a few days, Lu Shen would definitely find his way back to him, and then things would get complicated.

To prevent his identity from being exposed, he called Wang Dawei over and asked him questions.

"How's it going with the loan sharks?"

Wang Dawei explained cautiously, "Brother, it feels like the loan sharks will wipe us out in less than a day."

Upon hearing Wang Dawei's words, Lu Jianming frowned and pondered how to sever ties with loan sharks.

Looking at the files on the computer, his eyes finally settled on Chengfeng Group.

Now that the group is in his hands, he plans to sever ties with it first, so he called his adopted son, Lu Huayu.

"Huayu, I'm at the company. Come to the company to find me now." Lu Jianming carefully considered how to explain his upcoming plans to Lu Huayu.

When Lu Huayu entered the office, Lu Jianming patted him on the shoulder very considerately.

"You've grown quite a bit taller."

Lu Huayu expressed his gratitude to Lu Jianming for adopting him: "It's all thanks to your good care. But why did you call me over so suddenly? Is there something urgent?"

Lu Jianming thought for two seconds and said to him, "I've decided to hand over the management of Chengfeng Group to you."

Upon hearing Lu Jianming's words, Lu Huayu immediately declined, saying, "How can this be? Chengfeng Group is your life's work."

Lu Huayu also said, "If you have any trouble, you can tell me and I will take care of it immediately."

Lu Jianming simply patted him on the shoulder and said earnestly, "This company will be in your hands sooner or later, and it's time for me to let go."

The other party expressed their confusion: "Of course I can manage it, but if you hand the company over to me directly, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it."

Lu Jianming waved his hand dismissively, saying, "I'm just giving you a company to practice with. At worst, it will go bankrupt and you can just open another one."

Lu Huayu then agreed.

However, this company's strength should not be underestimated. After all, it had previously snatched many of Lu's projects from the market, which is why Lu Huayu initially declined.

Lu Shen kept track of Lu's projects every day. At first, he didn't care when one or two projects were snatched away by other groups. However, in two consecutive months, four or five major projects were snatched away.

He knew in his heart that a company must be eyeing him, specifically targeting large projects that his company was collaborating on.

Therefore, he first sought collaborations with a few insignificant art galleries, as such collaborations depended on fate.

If it succeeds, they can make a fortune; if it doesn't, their company won't lose anything.

Therefore, he first approached Mo Baiqiu, the most famous painter in Z City, to discuss a collaboration.

However, during the bidding process, once the Lu family called out the price: "100,000."

Several other companies followed suit and added money, including Chengfeng Group.

The price once soared to 500,000.

Some smaller companies couldn't keep up and decided to stop raising prices, but Chengfeng Group was the only one that kept up.

However, a few scattered companies also followed suit during this period.

It kept increasing until it reached one million.

No one continued, except for the peak-forming group.

The auctioneer from Lu's auction house immediately raised the price to 1.5 million.

Cheng Feng shouted out two million.

"Two million per time."

"Two million twice."

"Two million—three times!"

With a heavy hammer blow, the project once again fell into the hands of Chengfeng Group.

"The first four or five projects were also snatched up by Chengfeng Group," the secretary reported.

Lu Shen was somewhat irritated. It seemed that Chengfeng Group was quite capable; he hadn't paid attention before and Chengfeng had snatched several projects from him.

The secretary, quite perceptive, suggested, "Should we send someone to find out more about them?"

“No need,” Lu Shen said. “Go and contact Mo Baiqiu.”

When Mo Baiqiu arrived at Lu Shen's office, he happily asked, "How should we divide these two million?"

Lu Shen smiled: "They're all yours."

“Generous, Mr. Lu, you deserve to be rich.” Mo Baiqiu put the bank card back into his bag.

He continued to ask, "So how does it proceed from here?"

Lu Shen tapped on the table, beckoning Mo Baiqiu over. "How many paintings can this gallery hold?"

"This is a small exhibition; it can't display many items." Mo Baiqiu looked down on it.

"Then I'll give you the one next to the stadium."

Mo Baiqiu was waiting for Lu Shen to say, "Okay, that's the one."

Lu Shen rolled his eyes at him, saying, "You have quite the appetite."

“A larger gallery makes things easier.” Clearly, Mo Baiqiu has ambitious goals.

Following the gallery's subsequent application, Chengfeng Group increased its investment.

By the fifth day, the gallery was ready, and the Chengfeng Group logo was visible everywhere inside.

Many well-known paintings were also auctioned.

Lu Huayu was overjoyed, but to his surprise, the gallery was deserted the next day.

No matter how many times he called, Mo Baiqiu wouldn't answer.

At this moment, Mo Baiqiu was fast asleep on Lu Shen's sofa.

"Wake up," Lu Shen called to him.

Seeing that the other party was ignoring him, Lu Shen kicked him.

Feeling a sharp pain in her buttocks, Mo Baiqiu cried out, "What are you doing?"

"I've bought your plane ticket, hurry up and go." Lu Shen placed the ticket on the sofa in front of him.

Mo Baiqiu picked it up and looked at it: "Canada, that's far enough, brother. Are you not planning to let me come back?"

"If you don't leave soon, someone will come knocking on our door," Lu Shen said helplessly.
