Unexpectedly, Hu Lan did not back down: "Xi Xi, you call her so affectionately, but I haven't seen you visit her during this time."
Lu Shen argued, "The company has been busy lately, and this is between the two of us. What business is it of yours?"
But Hu Lan mocked him: "What's it to you? Where were you when Xixi was harassed by the bullies in the village? Where were you when the Hope Primary School was halted? I was the one who resolved all these issues."
Lu Shen knew nothing about any of the things Hu Lan mentioned. Only now did he realize what Gu Hao meant by protecting Jian Ruoxi's safety.
However, Lu Shen refused to back down: "I'm about to marry him. As for what happened before, I can only say you were lucky to have encountered it, but Xi Xi has nothing to do with you."
Hu Lan was furious. He felt that the man in front of him was always possessing Jian Ruoxi and refusing to let go, yet he was so indifferent to her.
So he declared, "Fine, we'll see who ends up with Xixi."
Having said that, he turned and left.
Lu Shen returned to Huarui and summoned Ran Jie: "Why have you never reported to me about Hu Lan and Jian Ruoxi's matter? How could you be so derelict in your duty?"
This question stumped Ran Jie. He was busy with filming and hadn't noticed what had happened between Jian Ruoxi and Hu Lan at all.
Seeing the other person's confused look, Lu Shen knew that Ran Jie had nothing to do with that matter, so he said to him, "Hide Jian Ruoxi."
These words stunned Ran Jie. Previously, it was Hua Rui's former chairman who wanted to sideline Jian Ruoxi because of her bad reputation. But now, Jian Ruoxi's fiancé actually wanted to sideline her, which really baffled him.
"Brother Lu, you mean you're hiding Xixi?" Ran Jie asked Lu Shen with a skeptical tone.
Lu Shen felt like he had donkey hair stuffed in his ears: "Didn't I make myself clear?"
"I've explained it clearly, but can you tell me why?" Ran Jie asked, somewhat puzzled.
But Lu Shen didn't intend to explain to him: "This is a company order. Do what you're told."
Ran Jie had no choice but to agree, but he didn't know how to inform Jian Ruoxi, so the matter was delayed.
When it was time to shoot the next commercial, Jian Ruoxi asked Ran Jie, "Why hasn't the schedule for the next episode been arranged yet?"
Ran Jie stammered, "There won't be another trip, and there won't be any more in the future."
"What's the meaning."
Since he was going to die either way, Ran Jie simply said, "Xi Xi, you've been sidelined. It was Lu Shen's order, and I dared not disobey."
"Who? He said he'd sideline me? Is he kidding me?" Jian Ruoxi was still in shock. She never expected Lu Shen to take this step.
After hanging up the phone, she said to Gu Hao, "Drive to Huarui."
As Gu Hao sat in the driver's seat, he felt a little uneasy. After all, he was the one who had written the report, but he hadn't expected it would cause Jian Ruoxi to lose her job.
Although Jian Ruoxi was pregnant, she still walked briskly and arrived at Lu Shen's door in just a few minutes. She didn't even knock and just pushed the door open and went in.
"Gu Shen, don't push your luck." Jian Ruoxi scolded him directly.
Lu Shen was quite satisfied with his decision: "What's wrong? Shouldn't you be happy about being sidelined?"
Jian Ruoxi grabbed a book from the table and threw it at Lu Shen: "How dare you say such a thing?"
"And how dare I say such a thing? How could you have the nerve to have such intimate contact with Hu Lan?" Lu Shen questioned her about her relationship with Hu Lan.
Jian Ruoxi realized at this moment that Lu Shen knew about what had happened between her and Hu Lan. She explained, "Those were all his one-sided actions. I rejected him from the very beginning."
"When I was on set, he only stopped by to see me because he was visiting me in prison."
But it was clear that Lu Shen wouldn't listen to her excuses: "Stop making excuses."
Jian Ruoxi had no choice but to try to persuade him from an acting perspective: "Even if you stop my cooperation with the Hu family, you shouldn't freeze me out. How am I supposed to act in the future?"
Lu Shen disagreed, because he saw a deep sense of crisis in Hu Lan, fearing that Jian Ruoxi would be taken away by someone else. However, when he said it, it had a different meaning.
“First there was Su Ziyu, then Hu Lan, and who will be next? If you insist on putting on an act, there will be a constant stream of people coming.” Lu Shen said angrily.
But Jian Ruoxi felt that he was being unreasonable, actually coming up with such a illogical set of nonsense to fob her off.
The two eventually parted on bad terms.
All Hu Lan knew was that Jian Ruoxi's endorsement had been forcibly terminated, and that Hu's company had received several times the compensation, but Hu Lan still hadn't given up.
He contacted Jian Ruoxi first: "How have you been lately?"
After all, he had a big argument with Lu Shen at the company before, and he knew that Lu Shen wouldn't give up so easily.
Jian Ruoxi sighed deeply: "Hua Rui has blacklisted me, and we even had a fight."
She worried about her future, fearing that if Hua Rui didn't let go, she would never have a chance to succeed.
Hearing this, Hu Lan was somewhat surprised. He thought that Lu Shen would at most stop Jian Ruoxi's cooperation with his company, but he did not expect him to be so ruthless.
Seeing this situation, he came up with a solution: "How about this, I'll set up a personal studio for you, so you can work independently on filming movies and commercials without being controlled by others."
Jian Ruoxi was somewhat delighted: "If it's a person, I can decide what I do from now on."
But she quickly calmed down. If she were to open a personal studio, Hu Lan would definitely provide the funding, and he would have to bear all the expenses, including those for assistants, photographers, and so on.
Jian Ruoxi felt uneasy. She felt that if she really did this, she would be taking advantage of Hu Lan's feelings for her.
Not knowing what to do, she hesitated.
Seeing this opportunity, Hu Lan pressed her advantage: "The kindergarten is organizing an event in a few days, and I would like to invite you to participate."
"What activity?" Jian Ruoxi asked him.
Hu Lan said, "This is a parent activity organized by my daughter Xin Xin's kindergarten."
Jian Ruoxi hesitated, saying, "It's a parent activity, and I'm not Xin Xin's parent, so it's not appropriate for you to invite me."
“Of course not. It’s because some activities require mothers to participate with their daughters, so I thought of you. If you don’t want to come, I won’t force you,” Hu Lan said, but her mood was somewhat downcast.
However, his move was a strategic retreat, intended to make Jian Ruoxi feel guilty.
As expected, Jian Ruoxi agreed: "Okay, I'll go with you."
