Chapter 1 Hello, 2009

The studio was cluttered, dark, and filled with a pungent smell of smoke. The only window was open, blocked by a thin, small figure, casting a long shadow.

Looking at the name already signed on the divorce agreement, Jiang Xia remained silent for a long time, reluctant to put pen to paper.

"And then, where do you plan to go?"

"I don't know, maybe I'll take a trip first." Lin Yanwan looked at the alley outside the window and said softly, "Eight years have passed, I'm a little tired."

With whom?

"Just me, and my guitar."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Xia's eyes twitched slightly. Looking at the guitar placed in the corner, he hesitated several times before speaking.

After a long silence, a soft meow broke the silence, and his voice slowly echoed in the room.

"It's good to clear your head."

Lin Yanwan squatted down and gently touched Yuyuan's head. Her wispy bangs fell down, obscuring half of her face.

"I hope you won't underestimate yourself or be defeated by temporary setbacks. Cheer up, gold will always shine. Also, please stop smoking, I really hate it."

Jiang Xia swallowed hard and nodded, "Okay."

"Eight years have passed. Have you ever regretted marrying me?"

Is it useful to say all this now?

Jiang Xia's eyes revealed a bitter smile.

Yes, it's no use anymore. Even the most beautiful love can be worn down by the daily grind of life, and the warmth of the past is gradually replaced by more and more frequent arguments.

"sorry."

"Jiang Xia, you didn't do anything wrong to me. You only did something wrong to this family." After a pause, Lin Yanwan gently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and sighed, "I did something wrong too."

There's no right or wrong, it's just the seven-year itch.

"I have already divided the property, half for each of us."

Jiang Xia sniffed and continued, "I wish you a happy future."

"The same to you."

He took a deep breath and slowly began to write his name.

However, just as I wrote the water radical, the room suddenly began to shake violently.

An earthquake?!

Just as the two realized what was happening, the old house collapsed.

The ceiling collapsed, and Jiang Xia instinctively lunged forward to pin Lin Yanwan beneath him. Then, everything went black, and he lost consciousness completely.

hiss--

It hurts!

"Hey, Lao Jiang, how are you feeling? Are you alright?"

The sound of a basketball hitting the ground reached Jiang Xia's ears. He covered his head, struggled to open his eyes, and his vision was slightly blurry. Before him was a basketball court that he used to know very well but had almost forgotten.

This isn't a hospital?!

He suddenly came to his senses: divorce, earthquake, collapsed ceiling, and... Lin Yanwan!

Jiang Xia stood up hurriedly, looking around nervously. There was no earthquake, no collapsed ruins everywhere, and no rescue workers. Instead, there was—

On the platform not far away, a banner announcing the 100-day countdown rally was displayed. Some energetic sports students were running laps around the playground, while on the basketball court were familiar yet unfamiliar young faces.

He suddenly froze, and distant memories gradually surfaced in his mind.

Is this a high school?

Or was he knocked unconscious by the falling ceiling and was dreaming?

Seeing his best friend's dazed expression, Wang Ming waved his hand in front of him.

"Old Jiang, don't scare me! Come on, let's go to the infirmary, you guys get your treatment first." Without saying another word, he pulled Jiang Xia towards the infirmary.

"You are... Wang Ming?"

Looking at the medium-sized, dark-skinned guy in front of her, Jiang Xia was in a daze and still didn't come to her senses. She was pulled away by him in a daze.

“???” Wang Ming stopped and looked at him.

"Dude, don't tell me you lost your memory after being hit by a basketball. I've been hit by one before, and it hurts pretty much. That chubby kid from the next class even lost a tooth after being hit by one. But amnesia is such a far-fetched thing, isn't it?"

Jiang Xia closed his eyes, ignoring his friend's incessant chatter.

A long-lost friend suddenly appears before you. Does that mean he is also dead? Or is this a vision of his life that he is seeing before he dies?

"Hey, hold on, don't faint, don't faint, is it really that serious?" Wang Ming quickly helped him up.

Jiang Xia looked up at his slightly immature face and suddenly smiled.

"You son of a bitch, I told you long ago that you've always had a stern face, but you insisted on arguing with me, saying that you only got tanned after going to Sanya."

Upon hearing this, Wang Ming's face darkened even further.

"Old Jiang, you've gone too far! It's true I'm dark-skinned, but when the hell did I go to Sanya?"

"You told me about it during the summer after the college entrance exam, I think." Jiang Xia recalled with a complicated expression.

Wang Ming looked at him like he was an idiot. Had this guy's brain been damaged by the basketball?

"There are still more than three months until the college entrance exam. Did I tell you that in your dream?"

Jiang Xia smiled and suddenly punched him in the chest, muttering, "Hmm, is this dream with such a realistic feel?"

Wang Ming was knocked back two steps by his blow, rubbing his chest and looking at him: "What did you say?"

"Old Wang, try punching me."

"Are you serious?"

Jiang Xia nodded earnestly.

"I've never heard of such a despicable request."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Wang Ming retaliated by throwing a very forceful punch.

Jiang Xia was so struck by the punch that his vision went black and he almost passed out.

"Holy shit, you son of a bitch, you did this on purpose, didn't you? That's so ruthless!"
