Chapter 10: The Body and Mind of an Eighteen-Year-Old

The sound of the door opening suddenly rang out. Lin Xiaoman was engrossed in drawing on the table when she heard the sound. She turned around in confusion and her adorable eyes lit up when she saw who it was.

"Sister, you're back~"

The little one, with a sweet, childlike voice, jumped off the stool and ran over excitedly to hug her older sister's leg, burying her head and rubbing against her.

Looking down at the child in front of her, Lin Yanwan was slightly stunned, and it took her a few seconds to match her with her high school sister from the future.

Wow, so much time has passed already.

She patted Lin Xiaoman's head, her face showing tenderness: "Xiaoman, where are Mom and Dad?"

"Going to work~" came the childish reply.

Lin Yanwan nodded, thinking back carefully. At this point in time, her family's factory had not yet gone bankrupt, but under the influence of the global financial crisis, it had begun to lose money every month. If things had followed the course of her previous life, her father's toy factory would have gone bankrupt in a few years.

This is the general trend, and even as a reborn person, she cannot find an effective solution in the short term.

What is Xiaoman doing all alone at home?

“Mom and Dad went to work, and no one played with me, so I drew by myself. Look, sister.” Lin Xiaoman picked up a drawing paper. On it was a blue sky, white clouds, and sun, and under a tree was a lion eating a watermelon.

"Xiaoman's painting is really good," Lin Yanwan said with a smile.

She put her schoolbag away, sat on the sofa, picked up Lin Xiaoman and placed her on her lap, her feelings were very complicated.

My younger sister has been sensible and obedient since she was a child. She has good grades and never worries our parents. Even after the family factory went bankrupt, she would do her best to help ease the family's burden.

In pursuit of love, she married Jiang Xia right after graduating from university, spending far too little time with her family.

She sighed softly. In this life, Lin Yanwan decided to put family first and everything else second.

"Sister, do you want to draw with me?" Lin Xiaoman looked at her with hopeful eyes.

"Okay," she said with a smile, taking the pencil. "What should I draw?"

“Draw…” Lin Xiaoman cupped her chin in her hands, blinking her adorable big eyes vigorously: “Sister, you can draw anything.”

She smiled gently and began to sketch casually. With just a few strokes, she drew the outline of a little rabbit holding a carrot, which looked very cute.

"Wow! Sister, this little bunny has the same bow on its head as Xiaoman!"

"Yes, Xiaoman is a cute little bunny, do you like her?"

"I love it!" Lin Xiaoman raised two peace signs above her head, her smile radiant.

Lin Yanwan's smile remained unchanged. She recalled that she had learned these painting skills from Jiang Xia. Although she had only learned the basics, they were enough for drawing simple sketches.

After playing with her younger sister for a while, Lin Yanwan returned to her room, turned on her computer, and prepared to look up some things. As a reborn person, if she could make good use of the information gap between the present and the future, she could make advance plans in many aspects and even dream of things she wouldn't have dared to imagine in her previous life.

Gradually, she discovered that this world was slightly different from what she remembered. Some familiar names didn't even match up with her at all.

After several hours of surfing the internet, Lin Yanwan had to accept the fact that she had been reborn into a parallel world.

Although the world has changed somewhat, the general direction has remained the same.

The bad news is that even if she memorized the lottery numbers, it wouldn't be of any use. The good news is that without all the constraints, she has more areas where she can operate with confidence.

To verify this conclusion, she searched online for her familiar field. Some famous piano pieces were missing, while others were still available. However, the entire Chinese music scene was riddled with problems, with many familiar stars and works missing.

Lin Yanwan was stunned for a moment. Was this a special blessing from God, who saw how hard she had worked?

After all, if Xia Luo could become an overnight sensation by copying songs after being reborn, it's not impossible for her, a music teacher at a training institution, to do the same.

She suddenly thought of Jiang Xia. What would that guy do after his rebirth? Would he stand at the forefront of this era and soar to great heights?

He shook his head, banishing Jiang Xia from his mind.

Now, she has two paths before her: one is the broad road to the entertainment industry, and the other is to use the information gap she learned in her previous life to become a rising star in other fields.

Or should I just find a man I love and marry him, like an ordinary person, and live a peaceful and quiet life? Then what is the meaning of being reborn?

Moreover, her marriage with Jiang Xia has just broken down, and she is unlikely to love him again, at least for the time being.

Even divorced people cannot guarantee that their next relationship will be happy.

If you've taken a detached view of love and romance, perhaps staying single isn't so bad.

Thinking of this, Lin Yanwan closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, her eyes were filled with determination!

—No matter which path I take, family comes first, career second, and relationships... are optional.

"Sister, sister..." Lin Xiaoman walked into the room carrying a teddy bear, pouting and looking at her pitifully: "Sister, I'm hungry..."

Stopping thinking about these messy things, Lin Yanwan smiled slightly, her tone inexplicably lighter.

"Okay, I'll go make some food. Xiaoman, would you like some tender steamed egg custard?"

"Yes, yes, yes!"

"How about I take you to the amusement park tomorrow?"

"Hehe, Xiaoman loves her older sister the most!"

The afterglow of the setting sun grew softer, and the light filtering through the window tinged Jiang Xia's skin with an orange-red hue.

After finishing the storyboard in his hand, he lazily stretched his arms to relax and rubbed his neck, which had become a little stiff.

He had been drawing intently all afternoon, and a thick stack of storyboards had piled up on the table. He had finished most of the storyboards for the first episode of Tom and Jerry. Although the drawing was not detailed enough and only had a rough outline, it was fine as long as he could understand it.

Moreover, with storyboards, the speed of drawing original drawings will be much faster.

Pick up this stack of storyboards and release them quickly. You can clearly see the simple lines begin to move, and the story they express gradually overlaps with the scenes in your memory.

Jiang Xia wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt that after his rebirth, his painting process had become exceptionally clear. Once he entered a focused and serious mode, he could quickly replicate the scenes in his memory. While he wouldn't say that he could perfectly reproduce classic masterpieces, at least they would look very similar.

Could it be... that this is what an eighteen-year-old's body and mind are like?

He smiled softly, his mind completely clear at that moment, and he was full of confidence in whether he could create a masterpiece like Tom and Jerry.
